Review: To mark a sombre five years since the world lost music genius David Bowie, this new compilation has been put together by a journalist from Jazz Magazine. On it he has selected some of contemporary jazz scene's best talents to pay tribute to the legendary artist with a selection of new and original tunes. The mood is gentle and soothing throughout with names like Keren Ann, The Puppini Sisters, Mike Garson, Bojan Z, Delta Saxophone Quartet Jen Chapen and Rosetta Trio, Caecilie Norby, Franck Wolf, Yelloworld and Eric Le Lann all contributing.

VinylArt: Bob Dylan (picture disc LP)

Folk/Americana
Review: If you're a Bob Dylan collector, you're never short of new products to catch up on. It might be a rare live recording or a premium reissue of a seminal album, but here's something a little different. French label Wagram have put together the VinylArt series, focusing on specialist picture discs for celebrated artists from Ray Charles to James Brown, Frank Sinatra to Nina Simone. Now they're turning their attention to Bob Dylan, creating a serious collectors piece which would, in truth, look as good on the wall as it sounds on the turntable.

The Avener & Phoebe Killdeer - "Fade Out Lines" (The Avener rework)

Flume - "Never Be Like You" (feat Kai)
Review: Electronic Music Anthology is a simple but effective series that pulls together some part ready jams from a wide range of artists. There never seems to be much of a theme to the series given the broad range of styles each one incorporates but that doesn't stop them being hugely popular. This second volume gets a reissue which will please fans of the more funky, playful side of house. Legends like Mr Scruff sit next to new school stars like Claptone, with pop hits from Disclosure rubbing up next to more underground sounds from Swayzak. There is plenty to enjoy here.

Club Cheval - "Now U Realize" (4:00)
Bob Sinclar - "Vision Of Paradise" (6:25)
Apparat - "Outlier" (Solomun remix) (7:52)
Review: There is nothing fancy about the title of this compilation, Electronic Music Anthology, but that directness also carries over into the music. Now on a fifth volume after four well received earlier instalments, it once again serves a wealth of club ready tracks for DJs who like high impact sounds from some of the biggest names in the game. There is electric tech from Laurent Garnier, bumping house from the one and only Kerri Chandler and a stone cold classic from Mr Oizo alongside lefty of main room melodic tech from the likes of Fedde Le Grand & Deniz Koyu.

Review: French DJ, musician and producer Kid Loco has a storied career that dates back to the birth of his own Bondage Records in 1982. Since then he has become a real reference point for alternative sounds that sit at a junction between the worlds of rock and electronic music. Sometimes sampling, sometimes playing the music himself, he has made an entry into the hallowed DJ Kicks mix series and now returns with a new album that draws on trip hop, downtempo and indie pop. "Venus Alice In Dub" is the sort of lushly detailed tack that is perfect for modern audiophile bars and "Yes Please, No Lord!" could become a cult curveball for brave DJs, amongst many other highlights.

Review: Chances are you've already got at least one Bob Marley album in your collection. Even if you own a few, we'd still recommend taking a close look at this quintuple-vinyl celebration of the reggae superstar's career and legacy. The first four slabs of wax take us on a whistle-stop tour of Marley's career with the wailers, moving from fuzzy, lo-fi early career recordings to the height of his worldwide fame in the late 1970s. While there are some classics missing, the compilers have made up for this by including harder-to-find instrumentals and dubs. The fifth disc showcases the strength of Marley's song writing skills by gathering together covers from the likes of Sly & Robbie (with disco star Gwen Guthrie on vocals), Black Uhuru, Max Romeo, Horace Andy and Gregory Isaacs.

Review: The original reggae legend lives on as strong as ever. This newly remastered collection is a real behemoth and comprehensive overview of the Jamaican's great career. Unlike any other world renowned star, Marley transcended music and became as known for his political views and positive outlook as he did his music. Here though it's all about the latter, with smash hits like "Sun Is Shining", "African Herbsman," and "Trench Town Rock" all present and correct across five slabs of wax, with a poster also included. Add this to your collection and you'll have all the maestro's greatest work in one place.

Review: The Buddha-Bar franchise was created by French-Romanian restaurateur Raymond Visan and DJ and interior designer Claude Challe. It now has outposts all over the world and has always had a rather commercial bent but the mix CDs have often offered some worthy lounge and downtempo sounds. Now we're treated to a look back to the early years with this bumper triple vinyl collection featuring lots of zen grooves, oriental ambient and Middle Eastern moods. It is a worldly collection that is actually well worth having to bring a touch of class to dinner parties alone.

Review: The Buddha Bar series is one of the most enduring in all of dance music. It made famous the bars of the same name which started in Paris and are now found throughout the world, all with a signature soundtrack of gentle downtempo, jazzy house and stylish Balearic. French label Wagram attempt to pull together some of the very best bits from the very many cosmos over the years onto this one triple pack. And they do a fine job too with nice horizontal sounds from Ravin, Carlos Campos & David Visan, Consoul Training & Pink Noisy and Panjabi Hit Squad amongst many more, all with a nice worldly feel and cocktail-sipping atmosphere.

Review: First put out back in 2007, Soundz of Freedom is a landmark album in Bob Sinclar's discography. The French man has long been a towering figure in the world of house music with many chart hits and a DJ diary that takes him on endless trips around the globe. This album helped get him there and is now being reissued for the first time as a double vinyl. It has already been certified gold and features collaborations with renowned stars such as Axwell, Tocadisco, Ron Carroll, Jamie Lewis and Mousse T. Between them they explore plenty of accessible house sounds from deep to vocal to Afro-leaning and they have all aged well enough to still do a job to this day.

Review: Thanks to Massive Attack's recent anniversary reissue of their touchstone "Mezzanine" album, trip-hop is back in the headlines. While we don't expect a full-blown revival just yet, it's always worth dipping into the style and its hazy, dub-flecked and sample-heavy sound. This triple-disc genre retrospective from Wagram should be an essential listen for both confirmed trip-hop heads and newcomers alike. It contains plenty of well-known classics - see the contributions from I Monster, Tricky, Smith & Mighty, Kid Loco, Moby, Boards of Canada, Kruder and Doefmeister, Tosca and Nightmares on Wax, for starters - as well as under-appreciated underground hits and lesser-celebrated selections (Sabres of Paradise's remix of Red Snapper's "Hotflush" being the undoubted highlight).

Review: Classics are classics for a reason, and this compilation champions them across two slabs of wax. All four sides are jam packed with firm reggae favourites from Bob Marley's stirring "Soul Rebel" to the buttery croons of Gregory Isaacs on "Babylon Too Rough". Mick Hucknall's inclusion will raise some eyebrows, but there is no denying his version of "Night Nurse" with Sly & Robbie has something going on. Smokers will delight in ganga odes from Eek-a-mouse and the lovable innocence of The Congos hit "La La Bam-Bam" will always have a place in anyone's affections.

Review: Wagram's always comprehensive compilation series is back with another deep dive into a specific sound, and this time it is French touch aka the Gallic take on early house that is in the spotlight. Plenty of the early pioneers feature like Bob Sinclar, DJ Gregory, Saint Germain and Tour-Maubourg, but so do some more recent explorers of that sound, namely Folamour whose gorgeously sampled and gospel-tinged opener 'Ya Just Need 2 Believe In Yaself' is an early highlight here. Add in some other favourites like DJ Deep's 'Learn 2 Love' and De Pompidou's 'Can't Be With You' and you have a great overview of this popular house sub-genre.

Review: Wagram offers up a mega-rare groove compilation, and a one-way ticket to France from the late 60s to the early 80s. Spanning movie soundtrack cuts to releases that have never seen the light of day, you're not likely to know many of the names on this one, thanks to its super-niche focus. Nevertheless, what links funk and France is fromage, so they go together like cheese in a rind. Worth the grind!

Review: Wagram really loves a good compilation and this is a good compilation. It finds the French label focusing on well, lo-fi beats that are jazzy and nice. Across 19 often short but very sweet tunes a range of beat makers show off their skills and sink you into lounge vibes, late-night lovers' trysts, gentle grooves that seduce and soothe and plenty in between. Whether you need an easy listening companion for a late-night drive or something for a smoochy Sunday this is likely going to please. once again kudos to Wagram for putting this one together.

Review: The so-called French touch sound that emerged from France in the 90s and beyond will always be one of the Gallic country's most famous musical exports, certainly in electronic terms. Its god fathers are of course Daft Punk who fomented filter heavy, textural, and loopy jams that are bustling and overflowing with good vibes. But many an artist followed and added their own spin, plenty of whom are included here on a second volume of the genres finest moments. Standouts come from greats like Justice, St Germain, Alex Braxe & Fred Falke and more.

Review: Wagram's musical boundaries know no end. The French label has in recent times served up super collections of everything from disco fo funk soul to techno, house to now cumbia. A primer in case you aren't familiar: cumbia is a folkloric sound and dance that emanated from Colombia in the 1940s. It involves influences from all over Latin and South America and is richly instrumental. Here, some of the genre's biggest tunes and most notorious players all get serve dup across tow sides of wax that will have your ass wiggling in no time. They have turned their hand to every genre you can think of and then some more from techno to disco and now to rocksteady. This emotive Jamaican sound hits is peak in the 70s and this collection, subtitled 'Take Place At The Heart Of Rocksteady' showcases plenty of its many great highlights. Review: Discover all the gems of house music in a double vinyl special collection selected by the Rex Club, the emblematic Parisian club that has hosted the greatest names in electronic music. Local legend Point G nails that French Touch vibe on the sublime classic 'Underwater', and there's the Masters At Work with India classic 'I Can't Get No Sleep' - a true zeitgeist of 90s US house, as is Logic's seminal 1990 anthem 'The Warning' - a staple of the Strictly Rhythm back catalogue. Another quintessential track from the club's heyday comes from the inimitable Etienne de Crecy on 'Prix Choc', the timeless, balmy summertime groove that is 'Byrdman's Revenge' by Mike Delgado, and representing the new school is Leo Pol on a similar vibe with 'Chantal'.

Review: Wagram's seemingly endless thirst for compilations means we have another one on the racks this week. This time out, after focussing on everything from disco to blues, techno to soul, it is Sampled Disco Funk in the spotlight across four sides of vinyl. There are plenty of nicely sought out sounds here from a mix of artists that we all know and love such as Leon Ware, but also plenty of lesser known artists such as Lafayette Afro Rock Band and Celi Bee & The Buzzy Bunch. These are characterful sounds from the world of funk, with plenty of fire in their breakbeats and richness in the bass.

Review: Wagram France specialise in serving up compilations. They have a great knack for puling together great overviews of a wide array of sounds and scenes - some are really niche and in-depth, some are simply big hits for fun times. This time out set their sets on Italo Disco with this new double album which is packed with plenty of loveable and highly danceable disco sounds. Many of them are classics but not from the obvious end of the spectrum - the likes of Kano's 'Another Life' from 1983 is a particular highlight while Miko Mission's 'The World Is You' (vocal mix) is over seven minutes of vocal Italo disco splendor.

Next up the French label sets its sights to trip-hop - a distinctly British sound that emerged in the 90s quite specifically from Bristol and artists like Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead. None of those pivotal names actually feature, weirdly, but there is still a wealth of love downtempo goodness here from the likes of Manchester's Mr Scruff, world music don Bonobo, disco divas Moloko and musical maestros Quantic and Thievery Corporation. It takes for a top listen.

Wagram puts together a selection of what they think are the greatest ever funk records and they certainly do a good job of it. There are plenty of the names you would expect here, such as George McCrae's classic 'I Get Lifted' as well as Jimmy "Bo" Horne's 'Clean Up Man.' Patrice Rushen's 'Forget Me Nots' still sounds irresistible no matter how many times you have heard it and that is basically true of most of the music on here.

Review: Wagram have put together this mighty compilation of essentials from Jamaica's rich music culture. If you needed a primer on reggae, or just fancy having an avalanche of the best tunes in one box set, then look no further than this five-disc epic. Most of the names are familiar - Bob Marley, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Gregory Isaacs, Horace Andy, John Holt, Sister Nancy... the list goes on. But this isn't just a case of obvious or perhaps even commercial hits - you can tell this has been put together by someone with deep knowledge who can reach for a more modern cut like Soom T's 'Politic Man' as easily as a vintage bit of dancehall.

Review: French label Wagram have pulled together a great compilation here featuring 12 essential funk and soul tracks from the Baxploitation era. Out was a time define, musically, by a groove heavy strain of soul throughout the 70s so makes for a n all killer no filler collection. Plenty of it we know about, but plenty we do not, and so Wagram Music tires to fill us in that bit more with this super collection of rare groove sounds from a range of artists. Some are legendary, some are less well known, all are in fine form. On the tunes, soul, funk and disco all permeant traditional Brazilian sounds like bossa, samba and batucada. The resulting unions are highly infectious and cheerful making this a great collection for fans old and new.

Wagram France has you covered with this timeless collection of some cold gems. All the biggest names appear such as Bob Marley with his hazy 'Sun is Shining,' Horace Andy with his legendary 'Skylarking' and Toots & The Maytals with one of their signature uplifters, '54-46 Was My Number.' Also included is Eek-A-Mouse who still headlines festivals to this day, and his ode to the weed, 'Ganja Smuggling,' ill surely never go out of date. As if that wasn't enough, the bulbous dub riddims of 'Oh What A Feeling' from Gregory Isaacs make fro a perfect closer.

Review: Wagram Music continues its compilations with a third volume in its Hip Hop Vibes series. The short lived but potent sound which hailed from the streets of Bristol in the wake of artists like Tricky and Massive Attack made a truly global impact that resonates to this today. And you name it, they feature on it here with Tricky himself as well as RJD2, DJ Vadim, Flume, Zero 7, DJ Cam and many more all serving up the sounds. They are lush and instrumental, escapist grooves that cannot fail to sink you into a chilled out state of mind as you soak up the jazzy, dreamy grooves. A fine overview indeed.

All the bands biggest singles are taken on from 'Money' to 'Another Brick In The Wall' via 'Wish You Were Here' and 'Us and Them.' Review: Thanks to Massive Attack's recent anniversary reissue of their touchstone "Mezzanine" album, trip-hop is back in the headlines.

Review: The Wagram label loves putting together a good compilation and that's what they do here with a focus on drum & bass. In particular and early on, they opt for a rather sweet and soulful sound, a deep take on the green with liquid grooves and warm, glowing pads next to angelic vocals. Plenty of the names you would expect appear from Goldie with a stone-cold classic to Nookie and Kid Loco. There are more edgy jungle vibes later on from Soulja, steppers from Roni Size & Reprazent and raga styles from Congo Natty Presents Conquering Lion.

Review: It seems like we write about a great new compilation from French powerhouses Wagram every week. This is the latest and it takes aim at trip hop which is the niche sub-genre to emerge from the shadows of hip-hop, firstly in Bristol. This is an unashamed collection of what the label thinks are the biggest tunes and most classic joints from across the years all on one triple vinyl set. Some unpredictable inclusions are the likes of Radiohead's otherworldly hymn 'Everything In Its Right Place' amongst standouts like Snooze's 'The Chase' (Revisited By Fila Brazilia).

Review: Wagram is a heavyweight when it comes to putting together one-stop shop compilations that cover any given style, scene or genre in fulsome detail. This time they take aim at the 90s and serve up plenty of hits from that much-loved decade. All the usual are here such as Reel 2 Real's 'I Like To Move It', Chaka Demus & Pliers's 'Murder She Wrote' and Cunnie Williams's 'Saturday' (feat Monie Love - Mousse T House edit) making this a must for anyone throwing a nostalgic house party.

Review: French label Wagram is a go-to when it comes to quality compilations that take a broad look at certain sounds and scenes, and this one is an on-going series that focuses on house sounds with an Afro undertone. The grooves are lively and often come with plenty of percussion. The drums hit hard but with funk, the vocals are Afro-centric and plenty of irresistible hits come thick and fast from the jazzy tribal swagger of 'Imbalaye' to the big steel drum party sounds of 'Viet Dao' (Klement Bonelli & Yann DL remix). Another great collection of colourful Afro house sounds.
