I Could Love You
Middle Of Nowhere
Review: Alice & The Majesty is a new band fronted by bohemian London songstress Alice McLaughlin, featuring members of UK new folk stalwarts
Clayhill and trip hop/breakbeat legends Red Snapper. Alice's second single 'I Could Love You' is a bittersweet, stripped down love song
that parallels any Joni Mitchell or Kate Bush classic. Produced by the renowned Dan Grech-Margeurat and out now on Sunday Best.

Where Does Your Mind Go? (Doorly remix)
Where Does Your Mind Go? (Nu:Tone remix)
Where Does Your Mind Go? (Darkstarr Diskotek dub)
Where Does Your Mind Go? (JFB remix)
Review: Putting aside all the grandiose claims that surround Beardyman ("international online phenomenon" and "viral video architect" are just two that pop up should you choose to investigate) it's pretty bewildering that the sounds which form "Where Does Your Mind Go?" are made entirely from one mouth, four Kaoss pads, looping devices and a sampler! Demonstrating a willingness to veer away from the beat boxers template, this new track is more obviously placed in Michael Mann budget electro house circles with undertones of dubstep drama for good effect. The track's dancefloor intricacies are explored more fully on the swathe of remixes that follow from such luminaries as Doorly, Nu:Tone, Dark Starr and JFB.

Review: The loveable Cuban rogues, Miguel, Archerio, Clemente and Kengo release their second 12" single taken from their "A-Z of the Cuban Brothers" compilation, and bring their inevitable world domination one step closer. The new single is a cover of the sex-drenched classic "Love is Alive", originally performed by the weaver of dreams himself, Gary Wright. With their debut single "A Million Stories" already considered a classic, this single is guaranteed to earn an equally special place in the heart of every Cuban lover, and is a massive favourite at every Cuban Brothers live show.

The Emotions - "Blind Alley" (3:01)
Erykah Badu - "Next Lifetime" (4:01)
Review: The Cuban Brothers drop some heat of their own with this surprising compilation that blurs the lines between original music and DJ composition. La Familia does have some odd their sounds on it, namely the opening "I Hate Hate", a funky-ass pop tune that kicks this thing off on the right foot, but the majority of it is made from the very artists who launched funk and pop onto the world stage. Inside, you'll fid some absolute classics from legends like Herbie Hancock, Teddy Pendergrass, A Tribe Called Quest, D'Angelo, and many more hot shots.

Review: English ska and dub singer Rhoda Dakar has been enjoying a renewed release schedule in recent years. As of late, Sunday Best Recordings (founded by Rob Da Bank and co., way back in 2000) has been adding to her fore, planning a series of rocksteady single releases, beginning with 2021's 'Everyday Is Like Sunday' and a complementary dub version. 'As Tears Go By' follows, being a new dub cover of the classic Stones' song. A must for all our dub, lovers' rock and rocksteady fans.

Review: 2Tone icon Rhoda Dakar is back on suitably dusty pink vinyl 7" given that it drops the day after Valentine's Day. This one is another reggae-infused cover following the success of her latest album, 'Version Girl.' 'I Don't Mind' was originally penned by Peter Shelley of Buzzcocks but here gets the Rhoda treatment, and is an homage to one of Rhoda's favourite songwriters. It pays tribute to Shelley's songwriting prowess and reflects on an encounter with Shelley in 2015. Dakar's soulful rendition of it means 'I Don't Mind' resonates as a timeless tribute.

Great Britain
Review: This unlikely duo have matured nicely since the instant attention brought by their first single "Thou Shalt Always Kill," and this EP is a fine showcase of their evolving sound. Spoken word don Scroobious lays down his flow nicely over "Sick Tonight’s" fast, D&B-tempo beats, while "Great Britain" has a more dirty electro feel, complete with some bubbly synth work. The remixes are just as strong, with Doctor P turning "Sick Tonight" into a heavy dubstep stomper, Mumdance working his grimey magic on a slowed-down "Great Britain" and Sampha turning "Sick Tonight" into a woozy and dreamy hip-hop soundscape.

Review: "B-sides, Remixes & Rarities" kicks off with "Your Rules Obey" and "Sixty Seven Up", a couple of melancholy tracks where shimmering guitars provide the backdrop for Rudd's laid back vocals. The album moves into more retro territory, belying the pair's time spent on the west coast of America, with the likes of "Leaves" and "Rabbit Facts". This album highlights the array of influences that go into a Grand National record.

Review: Rob Da Bank always knows best. His Sunday Best imprint now brings us Good Times: Skank & Boogie, compiled by the one and only Norman Jay. This is in its 12th edition so you can certainly trust the DJ on this one. Starting out with a cover of the classic Pink Panther theme by Henri Mancini by St. Germain, it also features another brilliant cover of Steve Wonder's "Living For The City" by Michael McDonald (Doobie Bros./Steely Dan) but there's some super fine boogie in the form of Paul Johnson's "Better Than This (Dego & Kaidi 2000 Black mix)". There's classics too; the timeless wonder of Deodato's "Never Knew Love" from 1984 and Stone City Band's 1980 hit "Little Runway" featuring Rick James. All killer, no filler on this one, thank you Sir Norman!

Pinky's Dream (Trentemoller remix)
Pinky's Dream (Visionquest Velvet Curtain remix)
Review: The opening track from Lynch's mesmerising 2011 album gets the remix treatment from two very well considered producers; both of which have really highlighted the track's strengths in two vastly different ways. Trentemoller's up first and, as you'd expect, takes us head first into a swampy, rocky psychedelic groove that fuzzes and flickers with 50 shades of distortion and funk. Troxler et al's Visionquest retain this textured hypnosis while taking things deeper again thanks to haunted echoed voice samples and a deep, throbbing two note bassline.

Separate From The Arc (Andrew Weatherall mix 2) (5:48)
Review: Those who picked up Solar Bears' recent Advancement album on Sunday Best will recognize "Separate From The Arc"; the track offered a deliciously triumphant end to a set crammed full of glistening ambient and IDM treats. Here, the track gets handed over to veteran producer Andrew Weatherall, who delivers two distinctive touch-ups. His first version drowsily joins the dots between skittering dancefloor jazz, string-drenched movie soundtracks, and the duo's twinkling original. Arguably even more impressive is "Mix 2", where Lord Sabre indulges his long-held love of beatbox electro, fusing those swirling strings and grandiose atmospherics with the kind of body-snapping beats that were once a feature of his early Two Lone Swordsmen work with Keith Tenniswood.
