The Music Sounds Better With 'Fro (Soft Rocks Adjustment)
Brothers (& Sisters) On The Slide (Soft Rocks Adjustment)
Review: Black Rox is back with 2 more sneaky Soft Rocks specials that have somehow been liberated from locked CD wallets and released into the wild for general consumption. Lead track "Music sounds better with 'fro" is a Stardust aping afro groove exploding into ecstatic, almost house, pianos. This one has been thoroughly road tested by dem Idjut Boys and Soft Rocks themselves... dancefloor detonation guaranteed. On the flip we get more righteous with "Brothers (& Sisters) On The Slide". Funky rollin' drums and a spoken word intro leading into a glorious anthemic song about struggling against the man.

Date With The Rain (Soft Rocks edit) (11:38)
Le Beat Is Technotronic (Roots Unit edit) (6:12)
Review: The fourth release on Black Rox finds the Africa-loving label looking to a fine pair of suitors to do the business on a fine pair of edits. Soft Rocks is up first, channelling all the sun of the source material into a track called "Date With The Rain". It's a sweet natured jam layered with gorgeous vocals, perfect Afro guitar licks and a bubbling organ line. Roots Unit takes over on the B side with the more tricky-to--pin-down affair that puts snaking percussion at the front of the mix and loops up some mantras and chants for a truly head-spinning end result.

Sabu Dance
Every Breath I Take
Review: Black Rox is back with two more sneaky Soft Rocks specials that have somehow been liberated from locked CD wallets and released into the wild for general consumption. The A-side Sabu Dance combines Horns, Flutes & Percussion on this killer slice of midtempo funk from Africa via Berlin. This has been thoroughly road tested by Soft Rocks at their Kinfolk night & never fails to get a great response from the dancefloor. On the B-side is not the tantric one's ode to voyeurism but a rare as hens teeth slice of UK. reggae at its finest. Adjustments have been made sensitively and sounds have been chosen to carefully match those from the appropriate era. A perfect track for blissful summer evenings.

Filaw (Soft Rocks remix)
Once In A Lifetime (Soft Rocks remix)
Review: The Soft Rocks collective feature twice on the upstart Black Rox label with two heavily tribal remixes for a so far unknown artist. The Soft Rocks take on "Filaw" is wrapped in horns and jungle sounds - not too far off a 1970s Brian Jackson and Gil Scott Heron collaboration. On the flip is a possible Talking Heads reference in "Once In A Life Time", which gathers mesmeric African drums and percussion, grooving in harmony to ritualistic chant. A Mohican David Byrne perhaps?
