Review: Soon, Bristol beat-maker Boca 45 will celebrate 20 years in the game with a compilation on Bomb Strikes entitled Bombs From The Vaults. This typically floor friendly 7" is described by the label as a "companion piece" and contains two sticks of bona fide dancefloor dynamite. On the A-side, the cider-loving producer joins forces with West Country band Mohawkestra, cutting up recordings of the funk outfit in action with emphasis on the combo's DJ-friendly breakbeats. On the flip, Regular Boca 45 collaborator Kelvin Swaby takes to the mic, delivering a gravelly funk-rock vocal that perfectly compliments the producer's killer manipulations of an old dancefloor anthem.

Five years on from the release of the first seven-inch, Mako and Mr Bristow's Soul Edits" series reaches volume six. On the A-side's "Stealin Alright" they get to work on a riotous slab of funk-rock heaviness from the golden age of the sound - albeit one whose sweaty drum breaks, weighty bass and gravelly guitars also come accompanied by steel pan melodies. It's an odd combination but one that works really well. Over on side B, "Stealin' Nolan" is a tidy edit of another rhythm and blues style dancefloor workout, this time rich in stomping drums, memorable guitar riffs and stomping, Northern Soul style drums.

Review: Although this tidy little 7" from Mako and The Hawk might sound like it was made in the late 80s on a pair of cassette players, these two beatsmiths are very much part of the current wave of dance producers, and Number Nine is there to support them on their mission. "The Devil Made Me Do It" is a funky, breaks-heavy funk bomb guided by Chima Anya's masterful lyricism, while "Strut Your Strut" is slower, looser and that little bit deeper for those B-side cats. Whether you're into old-school hip-hop or soul music, this EP has what it takes to float your boat good and proper.

Review: ** Repress for the breaks dons ** The long awaited new Visioneers Limited Edition 45 produced by Marc Mac of 4hero is here at last on BBE offshoot Omniverse. No messin' here as Visioneers go straight for the funk jugular with two dope versions. On the A-Side a version of The Shadows classic ''Apache'' gets flipped by Visioneers remake of Johnny Pate's B-Boy bomb "Shaft In Africa". Heavy horns and bongos aplenty - this is just wanted the doctor ordered. It's limited, it's hot, go get it!
