Review: Robert Finley returns for a new album of his distinctive Louisiana blues style. Having devoted himself to music more fully after losing his sight at 60 and now boasting an incredible catalogue of albums behind him, Finley's recent life story is a marvel in itself, but as Black Bayou proves his tales only deepen the further back you go. Drawing on early memories such as the nerve-racking story 'Alligator Bait', Finley lays down one of his most direct albums to date. It was written and recorded in situ at Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound Studio in Nashville, and it captures the raw honesty of music made in the moment, from the heart, with a dirty Southern crunch to the production you'll never tire of.
