Review: Planka Records continues to lay out its musical agenda with a fourth EP that takes the form of a forward-thinking compilation that blends fresh talent with trusted names. Hypnotic rhythms, shimmering textures, and fearless experimentation define this release, creating a soundscape that's equally suited for deep club immersion or solitary reflection. Feel Me Flow (reissue)
Cat: TB 55741. Rel: 29 May 25

Hip Hop/R&B
Feel Me Flow (3:31)
Feel Me Flow (instrumental) (3:31)
Review: A cornerstone of East Coast hip-hop's golden era, Naughty By Nature's 'Feel Me Flow' gets a 2025 reissue on limited edition black 7" vinyl. Originally released in 1995, it stands as one of the trio's most commercially successful and artistically sharp singles, built around a shimmering summer-ready groove and driven by Treach's blistering yet effortless flow. It was the third single taken from the group's Grammy-winning Poverty's Paradise album and quickly became a chart success, peaking at number three on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. The track also picked up a Grammy nomination and reached a new generation when it was used in the Eminem-starring film 8 Mile. With this reissue, the iconic original is backed with its instrumentalihighlighting the warm production and razor-sharp drum work that often gets overshadowed by Treach's commanding vocal presence. A must for collectors of classic hip-hop and mid-90s boom bap history.

Broken Beat/Nu Jazz/Nu Soul
Captain Future Theme (4:26)
Captain Future Theme (Delfonic remix) (4:55)
Review: Broken beat legends Nautilus return with a futuristic teaser for their upcoming 2026 studio album, and on this evidence, it's going to be superb. The first single reimagines a legendary anime soundtrack with their signature groove and features Japanese singer and sanshin virtuoso Anna Sato, whose vocals elevate the track to a new dimension. The release is completed by Berlin-based DJ and producer Delfonic, a well-known disco and house don and label head, renowned for his deep club remixes and praised by Gilles Peterson. Delfonic adds a magical touch with heavy beats that come with plenty of lavish synth work.

Love Theme From Spartacus

Broken Beat/Nu Jazz/Nu Soul
Nitsu - "Love Theme From Spartacus" (4:33)
Joe Thomas - "Coco" (6:04)
Review: 'Incense Music for Dining Room' is the third release in the acclaimed Incense Music compilation series curated by Toru Hashimoto, with artwork by Jiro Fujita and mastering by Calm, who is one of Japan's leading figures in jazz, chill-out and Balearic music. The 7" comes with two standout tracks: side-A features a beautiful reinterpretation of Yusef Lateef's 'Love Theme From Spartacus,' famously sampled by Nujabes on 'The Final View,' while Side-AA delivers a mellow, jazzy take on Joe Thomas' 'Coco' which also known as the basis for Buddha Brand's 'Buddha's Holiday.' It makes for a refined blend of nostalgia, jazz and chillout for discerning diggers.

Review: The third volume in the Insense Music compilation series, Insense Music for Dining Room, deepens its exploration of ambient, jazz, chill-out and Balearic sounds, all of which are perfect for serene dining moments. Curated by Tohru Hashimoto with artwork by Jiro Fujita and mastering by Calm, who a key figure in Japan's music scene as well as a renowned Balearic boss, this 7" release shines from the off: side A features Yakenohara's subtle, exclusive take on Bill Evans's 'Peace Piece' which blends his genre-fluid skills as rapper, DJ and producer. Side B offers Noa Noa's warm tribute to Bobby Hutcherson's 'Montara,' a hip-hop sampling favourite. The release precedes a full compilation dropping this May.

Review: Four years, a lot of gigs, and a change of lineup are all that have stood between Vyvyd and The Uncanny Extravaganza. New Candys triumphant return after the best part of a half decade is exactly that, unleashing some of the most powerful tracks in their oeuvre after no less than two years spent writing, recording and producing them. Which is ironic, given the raw, unfettered distortion that makes much of what's here so compelling and utterly devastating. It would sound off-the-cuff, it it weren't so complex. The Uncanny Extravaganza is one of those records that makes you genuinely excited about the prospect of seeing a band live again. It's loud - even if you've got the volume down - and its disharmonious, it's soaring and distant yet immediate and up front. It's psyche-infused garage rock with a dusting of raucous shoegaze (if that's possibly a thing), at times nodding to the likes of Ringo Deathstar or Death In Vegas, in other moments Spiritualised. Or maybe that's just us.

Review: Charly's reissue of this lost gem marks the start of Immediate Records' 60th anniversary celebrations, spotlighting a psych-pop marvel once nearly buried by industry chaos. Crafted by Billy Nichollsijust 16 at the timeiit's a sun-streaked, orchestrally rich set that genuinely holds its own next to Pet Sounds, a comparison that's often lazily thrown around but here actually fits. Tracks like 'Would You Believe?' and 'Girl From New York' shimmer with melodic ambition, the arrangements buoyed by John Paul Jones, Ronnie Lane, Arthur Greenslade and guest appearances from the Small Faces. Despite being shelved shortly after completion, it's aged into something quietly mythic: Swinging London filtered through orchestral grandeur, full of naive wonder but sophisticated beyond its years. A reissue that rewrites the teenage dream with baroque precision.
