Techno
Kingston Riddim (7:34)
Kingston Riddim (Sato interpretation) (8:10)
Review: Two decades deep into his career and still pushing forward, this seasoned German DJ delivers something that feels both timeless and fresh. The original version of 'Kingston Riddim' is a smooth, sun-soaked affair. Drawing from island dub but built with a crisp, modern hand, the track is full of warm organic textures and laid-back swing. The chords are clean and expressive without feeling too polished. There's a breezy confidence to the groove that makes it feel effortless. It's the kind of track that could slip into any set and feel right at home. Sato's interpretation dives into deeper territory. The bass rolls in thick and heavy while the chords get more tangled and echo-laced. There's a submerged quality here, like the track has been dragged through deeper waters. It's moodier than the original but still carries that same rooted sense of rhythm. This is one of those rare records where both sides hit in different but equally effective ways.

Everything Is Porridge (3:55)
Wormy Wonderland (3:30)
Eeeeeermmmm (3:07)
Review: Karachi-born, Toronto-based Measure Divide steps up for a first full EP on Mutual Rytm X here after having become known for reviving Toronto's techno scene through his FORMAT parties. Measure Divide has crafted a distinctive sound in that time which collides techno with innovative breaks and modular experimentation. Drawing from his experience in sound design and film scoring, this playful release departs from his usual serious tones by offering adventurous DJs and listeners a vibrant, chaotic journey through tracks like 'Wormy Wonderland' and 'Eeeeeermmmm' which mix unconventional percussive sounds, twisted synths, and caustic rhythms into real bangers.

Wake Up/A Trip To London
Wake Up/A Trip To London (10" limited to 300 copies)
Cat: ENDELLST 03. Rel: 13 Jan 25

Minimal/Tech House
The Mingers - "Wake Up" (6:46)
Timmy S - "A Trip To London" (6:30)
Review: Endell Street returns with a strictly limited 10" that features some rare gems that were originally produced back in the early 00s by Timmy S. Plenty of heads will know these have been expensive to cop on the second-hand market but now they have been restored and remastered by Yossi Amoyal in collaboration with Eukahouse's Nils Hess. Deep tech house doesn't get more authentic than this with the slick, driving drums and nocturnal pads of 'Wake Up' and the more percussive darkness of 'A Trip To London' both sounding superb.

Drum And Bass
Strictly Ragga (5:14)
FM Dial (with Kid Lib) (5:47)
Review: Future Retro continue rebooting recent history with these repress and it's great to see the demand for high grade timeless jungle music. Especially this one. The enigmatic Mr Sensei and the bossman himself go toe-to-toe on two very different breakbeat workouts. 'Strictly Ragga' goes full foundation with a very thick subby mixdown and layers of percussion. 'FM Dial', meanwhile, goes much more contemporary. Militant cuts and hits but bags of space and sudden twists. With Kid Lib on collab duties, too, some argue it's one of the most powerful tracks FR have ever blessed us with.

The Last Transmission LP Sampler
The Last Transmission LP Sampler (10" limited to 200 copies)
Cat: SFRLPS 01. Rel: 06 Jun 25

Drum And Bass
Pixl - "Synthetics" (6:09)
Murder Most Foul - "Mirror Maze" (6:22)
Review: Silent Force Recordings drops a heavy 10" teaser ahead of the much-anticipated The Last Transmission album. This sampler of it features two standout cuts from Pixl and Murder Most Foul, who ramp up the excitement for what's to come. Gritty, atmospheric, and razor-sharp, both tracks tap into the label's signature blend of deep breaks and futuristic dread. The sound designs are pristine and the beats heavy so it's a fine preview of the full-length project due later this year-raw, cinematic drum & bass built for dark rooms and loud systems. Silent Force isn't playing here.

Review: Argentine singer, songwriter, actress and psychedelic neo-folk high priestess Juana Molina may not be a familiar name to many in the West. But she's been putting out consistently fantastic records since the mid-1990s, debuting with Rara (not including the original score to the movie Juana y sus hermanas back in 1991) and is the sort of artist you don't forget once you discover. Allow Exhalo to open the door on this South American titan of folktronica, casting spells with a combination of lo-fi indie electronic, curveball pop, and progressive folk, with some influences also stemming from her upbringing as the daughter of tango legend Horacio Molina and actor Chunchuna VillafaNe. A deep and captivating listen that seduces you from the word go, this is one not to be missed if you can help it.
