Review: Wewantsounds is set to reissue Steve Beresford's highly coveted 1985 album, Dancing the Line, originally released by the French label nato. Drawing inspiration from the fashion of French designer Anne Marie Beretta, the album features contributions from Beresford's Alterations bandmate David Toop, Alan Hacker, and Kazuko Hohki of Frank Chickens, with lyrics by Andrew Brenner. The music blends sophisticated ambient pop, driven by an RX11 drum machine, with synth funk and experimental elements. Tracks like 'Tendance' and 'Comfortable Gestures' have achieved underground classic status over the years. This reissue marks the first time the album has been re-released, with newly remastered audio by Translab in Paris, the original gatefold artwork, and a four-page insert with liner notes by nato's Jean Rochard. Steve Beresford, a prominent figure in British and international music since the early 70s, began his recording career with the Portsmouth Sinfonia and has collaborated with artists such as Derek Bailey, John Zorn, and Thurston Moore. In 1985, introduced to Anne Marie Beretta by Rochard, Beresford and Brenner crafted songs inspired by Beretta's designs. Review: Originally released in 2007, Bjork's Volta, and later named Voltaic, is considered to be one of the artist's greatest works, one which incorporates everything from African rhythms, industrial tones and even elements of hip-hop thanks to Timbaland's appearances on the LP. At the time of release, the album was and is still praised by critics, it spent a good 10 week's on Billboard's charts and explored another side to Bjork's many talents. If you haven't heard it yet, you have definitely missed out because it is truly magical.

Review: Following from the success of this year's Vulnicura LP, Iceland's Bjork has decided to release an acoustic companion made up of string-only reinterpretations; a more abstract and pensive piece, if you will. One Little Indian is the label, of course, but this time there are strictly no beats, and the only concrete sounds within it are the subtle and placid wails of Bjork's own voice. While it isn't truly a pop album, there is enough playfulness and charm to render it playable not only as a solitary piece of music, but also alongside other pieces...in an explorative DJ set, perhaps.

Review: 'Born Pink' hears South Korean mega-girl-group Blackpink explore the rosier side of their sound, in a sophomore effort that follows up 2020's The Album, not to mention a smattering of dazzling K-pop live shows. With production from the Sinclairs, Bekuh Bom, R. Tee, Kush and Teddy Park, this is a modern-day extravaganza of pop, EDM and stadium rock. An ultra-modern statement of all-girl solidarity, Blackpink continue to shoot to heights of fame we hadn't thought achievable, notably snatching the spotlight from boy groups of the same ilk such as BTS.

Review: There's no denying Domino know how to knock 'em down hard. Having already delivered long players from Cat Power, Bob Moses and Villagers just this year alone, they are now turning to Devonte Hynes who is no stranger to the label either. Negro Swan provides the London artist with his fourth studio album which in large draws from the lost souls of '90s pop. It's hard not to hear Michael Jackson, Phil Collins and R&B four pieces all at once in tracks like "Saint", and even "Charcoal Baby", while there's even suggestion of Will Powers' spoken charm in the words to "Family". More Contemporary touches of genre are there in the emotional, beat pop of tracks like "Chewing Gum" and "Nappy Wonder" without forgetting the tropes of neo soul in "Holy Will". A grand album wrapped up in the angel wings of Blood Orange's queer poetic.

Review: Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning sensation Bluey is one of those shows you are only made aware of if you have kids. And then it pretty much takes over your life for a while as kids love it. Dance Mode is the follow up to the number one album Bluey already put out and it is another collection of 17 brand new recordings from series two and three of the hit animation, originally composed by Joff Bush. The heartfelt, funny portrait of family life is always brought alive by the colour sounds and has plenty of upbeat EDM tracks that bring the good times to any family disco.

Review: The self titled album by the late Laura Branigan was one of the biggest debuts by any female singer in the decade. Fuelled by the insanely popular hit single 'Gloria', which reached number two on the Billboard top 100, catapulted Laura to international stardom. The song would go on to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female in 1983 and would be the signature song for her career. Branigan comes in limited numbered copies and pressed 180 gram red vinyl.

Review: Kate Bush is right back into the popular consciousness of even younger music lovers these days thanks to one of her most iconic tracks was included in some of the key scenes in Stranger Things. Because of that, most probably, plenty of her music is being reissued and made available for those who missed it first time round, or those who still value its truly unique sound. Hounds of Love is of course Bush's most famous single, and her second most famous single, 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)' as mentioned above, also makes it onto this album, proving why it is deserving of the classic status it has long held.

Review: One of the most crucial art-pop records of all time, 'Hounds of Love' was British legend Kate Bush's fifth studio album, her most commercial and most daring. "It was just a lot of work" Bush laughed on an interview with Richard Skinner in 1992, explaining the sudden resistance she felt following her polarising 'The Dreaming', the first album she also produced. Despite the fear, the pressure and the workload, 'Hounds of Love' is, without question, her most beloved, opening with one of the most treasured songs of the 20th century, 'Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)' that has been revived time and time again in the soundtracks of TV shows like 'Pose' and 'Stranger Things'. Steadily approaching its 40th anniversary, there's still so much to this record beyond its singles. The latter half of the album contains a concept mini-album, the 'Ninth Wave', a narrative suite of songs based on the Ivan Alvazovsky painting of the same name. It follows the psyche of a woman who is stranded in the ocean, confronted by the ghosts of her past, present and future. I could go on about this album forever, truly, and its constant relevance in the zeitgeist is a testament to the lasting power of these songs. This is the first time this record has been released in over 10 years, featuring the Fish People remastering on a purple 180gm vinyl, an obi strip tied over a spot finish sleeve.

Review: Kate Bush enjoyed an unlikely renaissance (and a welcome boost to her bank balance, no doubt) with the younger generation when her music was used in iconic scenes in the hit Netflix show Stranger Things. She has long been a revered pop great who always had an outlier sound which despite that saw great commercial success. For that reason, she was invited to the BBC for a Christmas Special in 1979 and that recording is now pressed up just in time for the festival season. It features plenty of her best moments which will bring great warmth to the winter including the likes of 'December Will be Magic Again' and 'The Man With The Child' plus a version of Peter Gabriel's 'Here Comes the Flood' featuring the former Genesis frontman himself.

Review: Dubbed the 'Escapologist Edition', this edition re-presents the album with completely new artwork designed by Timorous Beasties, the same Glasgow-based design studio responsible for the new Hounds of Love reissue. Originally released in 1982 and featuring the international singles 'Sat In Your Lap' and 'The Dreaming', this album is pressed on 180g vinyl and uses the 2018 remastering as the source. An important album for her career in a beautiful new design, which makes this a must buy whether you have the original or not.

Review: Kate Bush has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity ever since one of her most iconic tracks was included in some of the most notable scenes in Stranger Things. It is maybe for that reason - that and the return of Bush to the live arena after a decades-long absence - that her canon is now being revisited and reissued with Fish People offering up this remastered version of her classic Never For Ever full length on lovely heavyweight silver and black vinyl. It comes with brilliantly ghoulish artwork and kicks off with the classic 'Babushka' before taking in the likes of 'All We Ever Look For' and 'Night Scented Stock.' A classic amongst many from this singular songstress.
