Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain is a post-apocalyptic 1973 film, perhaps THE post-apocalyptic movie when you get the nerds talking. The grittiness and sheer psychedelia within its every scene is a marvel in itself, but it also happens to have one of the nuttiest soundtracks to ever appear on the big screen. Having been reissued a few times as a bootleg, the unstoppable Finders Keepers have finally dropped their reissue, the ultimate reissue of the soundtrack with a proper remastering job and a new-look sleeve (which is just as jaw-dropping and otherworldly as the original one). First and foremost, this was made in 1973; the album contains so many different shades and characteristics that we wonder what the hell Jodorowsky was on at the time. From Indian raga drones to dark, cavernous horns and bursts of electronica, there is not one angle that this beauty doesn't cover. Lo-fi beats, tribal drums, sparse soundscapes and gorgeous strings combine to create a real spectacle, a stupendous 25 experimental ballads. A must, for all.
