Real With You (3:45)
Real With You (acoustic version) (3:43)
Review: Hip-hop artist Shing02 (Shing Annen) is a longstanding fixture of chill hop, and is notable for his cross-cultural focus, having been born in Japan but growing up in Western cities. With a precise, multilingual emceeing style few of his contemporaries can match, he's also known for his involvement with Nujabes and the soundtrack for Samurai Champloo, we're happy to see he's still hard at it. 'Real With You' is a collaboration with contemporary lo-fi hip-hop/chill-hop artist 14? and is a bright and serene wonker, lyrically dealing in themes of going with the flow, revisiting memories and letting go.

48v Spargel Brothers - "Bitten"
Club Paranoia - "The Cabinet Maker"
Slazenger's People - "Britney's Spear"
Freeman - "Dariana"
Review: Tough asparagus themed drum tracks for the culinary minded vinyl DJs out there on volume 4 of Don't Be Afraid's annual series that celebrates the fact that Record Store Day shares calendar space with the first day of the British Asparagus Season. Those who indulged in last year's inaugural pair of releases will be pleased as asparagus punch that Slazenger's People are once again involved, whilst the cuts from Freeman, Club Paranoia and 48v Spargel Brothers, the three series newcomers, demonstrate that quality control remains as high too. Indeed opening cut "Bitten" from the latter bumps with the kind of sweat inducing authenticity that many a current budding house producer could do well to sit through and take notes.

Some Song Teachers (5:56)
Dilemma (5:40)
Review: There's a lot to be said for club music that aims to both soothe the senses and move the feet. We can think of few better examples than "Some Song Teachers", the title track from this Public Possession collaboration between Cos/Mes member 5ive and label-hopping Swede Samo DJ. While underpinned by a sturdy, tactile rhythm track, it's the blissful electronics and undulating, rising and falling synthesizer melodies - new age influenced, but also intensely positive and mood-enhancing - that make the track so addictive. Flipside "Dilemma" is similarly smile inducing, offering a tasty twist on melodious, dusty deep house. It's nowhere near as striking as its' predecessor, but it's still a very fine track indeed.

Smooth Tutors - "Rhododendron"
Review: Ooh... Only 350 of these hand numbered doozies are being pressed with no digital versions and a three colour hand-stencilled sleeve. Talk about hot property! Naturally the content is exemplary. A classic east-meets-west scenario: Japan's 9DW shows off his slinky jazz boogie side and more mischievous Italo side with "Bobby's Jam" and "Funky Magician" respectively. Meanwhile on the B Pittsburgh live fusionists get loose with a Pat Metheny style jazz session ("Groovejam 1.6") and a freaky drum-supported bed of Rhodes and crisp clean guitars ("Rhododendron").

Abacus/Chez Damier - "Closer" (Jorge Caiado Morning dub) (6:58)
James Duncan - "416 Zone Dub" (6:24)
Jacksonville - "Twilight Industries" (7:58)
Satore - "Keep On" (5:31)
Review: Well over two years has passed since the release of Keeping The Legacy, a compilation style EP featuring tracks inspired by "the classic sounds from Chicago, New York and Detroit". This belated follow-up begins with something rather special: a fine Jorge Caiado 'Morning Dub' of lesser known Abacus and Chez Damier hook-up "Closer". While it boasts their usual chunky, groovy bottom-end, the mix also makes great use of a yearning, cyclical electronic melody. Elsewhere, James Duncan delivers the hazy deep house bump of "416 Zone (Dub Mix)", Jacksonville laces dreamy, drifting chords over a killer bassline and heavy percussion on "Twilight Industries", and Satore reaches for the cowbells and Gwen Guthrie vocal samples on the disco-influenced throb of "Keep On".

Let Your Body Talk (7:11)
Aint That Somethin' (7:45)
Shakin Room (6:01)
Review: Comprised of the pair that found notoriety as Virgo Four, this reissue showcases one of the rarer cuts from one of the great forces in the early days of Chicago house. The title track spits out a sharp salvo of drum machine beats, while a particularly squidgy line in 303s and other such synths creates a nagging front line behind which some wistful pads can stretch out. "Ain't That Somethin'" is a more upfront jam with a catchy disco lick built for a more direct dancefloor impact, while "Shakin Room" predates the Detroit beatdown brand of house music by a good few years with its soulful licks.

Acid Arab - "Zahr"
Gilbr Beesan Rum - "A Song For Anna"
Society Of Silence - "Baghdad"
An I & Capablanca - "Farsi Farce"
Review: To date, the Acid Arab Collections EPs and CD - compiled by the Paris-based producers behind the concept, Guido Minisky and Herve Carvalho (who DJ/produce under the Acid Arab alias) - have been little less than stunning. This third vinyl-only EP is of a similar standard. As usual, there's a strong focus on house and techno, with Middle Eastern instrumentation, vocals and samples atop. Highlights include the raw, heavy pump of Society of Silence's deliciously distorted "Baghdad", the spiraling, Brown Album-era Oribital style intoxication of An-I & Capablancas "Farsi Farce", and the ghostly horns and humid pulse of Gilb'r Beesan Rum's "A Song For Anna".

Acid Mondays - "Fomo"
Sean Thomas - "Fantasizer"
DJ Ali - "Park Your Mind"
Garry Todd - "Dice Me Up"
Review: You know when a vinyl arrives with dizzying artwork, artist names like Acid Mondays and track titles like "Dice Me Up" that you've simply gotta give it a listen. And so it proves here, with the debut release on Illusion Recordings. First up Acid Mondays - aka Dan Ward - drops "Fomo", which effortlessly weaves beefy club drums, piston-pumping chords, cleverly arranged vocal snippets and a bulging bassline for house jam that winks knowingly towards the old school. This shares the A-Side with Sean Thomas's "Fantasizer", with the Philly producer locking in a groove that wallows in the deep end. DJ Ali and Garry Todd share the honours on the flip, with the former opting for a crisp tech house flex while the latter goes for an 80s e-funk tip, utilising a killer disco sample along the way. A nice debut for Illusion - more of the same please!

Review: .Naples-based Afro house label MoBlack returns with the fifth edition in its various artist series titled Gold, tapping some of the scene's heavy hitters for their unique style of contributions to the catalogue. ACN opens up with the entrancing spiritualism of 'Creatures' on the A-side, followed by some of Emanuele Esposito's hypnotic polyrhythms on 'Tuwani' (feat Mavhungu). Review: For their second release, new French label Cosmocities welcome Active Ingredients aka golden era MC Stan Smith and Inkswel, the futuristic pair who blurs lines between hip hop, beats and house music. "The Middle" finds them come together in a real sweet spot, where smooth flows and lush beats sooth the soul and lyrical depth proved plenty of brain food. Broken beat maestro Kaidi Tatham also appears with a superb remix of the title track to close out a record that very much sums up the vibrant intersection between jazz, beats and hip hop that has been blowing up in 2019.

Agnes - "Question Rhetorique"
Eddie Leader - "Slumster"
Rick Wade - "Giochiamo"

Review: Booming warehouse beats and a looping female vocal similar to Marco Shuttle's hit "The Vox Attitude" dominates Agnes' "Question Rhetorique", the first track from a various artist sampler Hudd Traxx has put out to celebrate eight years of releasing records. Hudd Traxx stalwart Eddie Leader - who recently appeared on another EP with Agnes - supplies "Slumster", a rigid drum track swung by a choral of synthesised pads and heavily struck chords. Detroit legend Rick Wade delivers something a little more ambient until his trademark, tremolo-effected chords shine down on the track like a ray of light breaking through the clouds. Greek producer Sek caps of an energetic EP with the deeper - potential poolside anthem - "All Over Me".

Review: Now three releases deep; new Finnish indie Mood Of The Era is really hitting its stride now with its first six-track V/A EP. Digging into the foundations, each cut resonates with timeless textures and aesthetics; "Let Me Tell You" swaggers with a broken shuffle and an iconic vocal sample, "Life In The FCP" resonates with old acid house sentiments while "Forgotten Lands" is perfect iced-out introspection with atmospheric classic electro elements. Meanwhile on the flip "Finally I Saw You" is a cosmic sci-fi soul whirlwind, "Syvael" bumps and shakes with a stumbling post-garage two-step and DOS closes the show with an authentic homage to the warehouse golden era on "1990". Get in the mood.

Review: Launching with a very clear remit in mind, Prized are obviously set on being all about clean, smooth deep house. They've reached for an interesting spread of accomplished producers who have been doing the right things in the right places for a number of years now, and they sit together perfectly on this EP. Alex Agore has a punchy production finish and a prime cut of garage diva vocals; Ernie is a little more languid in his own "Tu En Mi", while Stojche takes a different tack with a robotic Detroit-flavoured jam that makes a nice diversion from the rest of what's on offer.

Review: In something of a surprising move Rinse turn to the straight-up tech-house styles for their latest various 12", representing a sound a world away from the grime roots of the label. Richy Ahmed is most readily associated with Jamie Jones and the Hot Natured brand, and here he throws down some limber acid arranged in a stripped down style that reflects his surroundings neatly. Clive Henry's SAS project turns out a more pumped up excursion in "Cloak & Dagger", full of gnarly stabs and insistent beats for the darker dancefloor, leaving it to Michael Jansons to lighten the mood with the sassy "All I Give".

Review: Another arm of Chez Damier's multi-limbed Balance Alliance, Courtesy of Balance inaugurate a new series of 12" compilation releases with COB 3, arriving on limited edition transparent vinyl. Amir Alexander kicks things off following a crop of killer releases for Vanguard Sound and Hype LTD with "Dragon Fly!" featuring the subtly undulating bassline and fresh take on the deep house template he's known for, while City 2 City's "True People 88 89 90" comes true on the promise of its title, with a piece of vintage house that goes beyond the usual hollow revivalism. On the flip, Immer & Mr J's "Delta 23" offers a thick piece of mid-tempo house, with a piercing kick drum, offbeat dub chords and contained acid madness, while St Sene & Janeret's "Nightshifter" takes things down a notch with a late-night house track filled with swirling pads and diva vocals swelling on the midnight horizon.

Review: Deep House doesn't get deeper than Deep Explorer, Dubbyman's evergreen label transmitting out of Spain. On this latest 12", Allstarr Motomusic makes a welcome return after the first volume of Beauty & Simplicty back in 2015. This time they're working in collaboration with vocalist Sarignia Bonfa and the results are stunning. "Burning (In My Soul)" is a gorgeous, dubbed out slice of deep house with a true Midwest flavour, while "El Sonido Deepex" takes things into even more sultry territory. There's also space for downtempo reflection on "Space Of Life", but also watch out for the deadly remix of "The Whole Hood In My House" by CVO.

Lindigo - "Tany Be" (Alma Negra dub) (8:55)
Review: For the latest excursion on their eponymous label, the Alma Negra crew is in full remix mode, in turn reworking tracks from contemporary Maloya combo Lindigo and lesser-known French Afro artist Salem Tradition. Their vocal and dub interpretations of the former's "Tany Be" are particularly special. While the dub is little more than a killer spaced-out percussion track with added delay-laden vocal and instrumental snippets, the "remix" is a near perfect fusion of woozy, spacey deep house and traditional maloya - all half-chanted vocals, snaking sax lines and warm bass. Those looking for heavy and druggy, kick-drum driven tribal Afro-house vibes should head straight for the remix of Salem Tradition's "Kabare", which is little more than loads of drums with an evocative vocal atop.

Review: The Alma Negra collective are based in Basel, Switzerland and are made up of Miajica, Dario Rohrbach and Dersu Figueria. The third release of the 12 Rhythms series (on their eponymous imprint) is dedicated to the music of Eritrea. On this EP, they wished to showcase the music of the Saho People from the Region of Zula. The word 'Saho' translates to 'nomad'. The spiritual and esoteric vibe of their native music is captured magically on the epic "Haleto Lale Lalo (Saho)". On the flip, a previously unreleased edit of "Erytrea Nedege (Saho)" by the band SOL is featured. A truly primal groove that will hypnotise you into submission. The exact source for these edits of the Saho sound are said to be very rare, and are based on traditional folk songs. In conjunction with Colophon Records, the label was able to access and work with these sounds.

Sakro - "Soulafly" (7:26)
Review: Bon Vivant is a freshly minted record label and party series from pals Andrade and Sakro. To kick things off, EP1 features two tracks each from the young producers. Their aim is apparently to release "timeless music", and there's something certainly ageless about Andrade's two contributions. Opener "Get Away From The Pressure" sounds like an unlikely hook-up between Paperclip People, Chez Damier and DJ Sneak, while the breezier - but similarly loopy - "In The Waiting Line" offers a European take on early 2000s Chicago deep house. Speaking of Chi-town, there's much swing and bump to Sakro's hazy and bass-heavy "You Are Gonna Die Anyway", while "Soulafly" adds a touch of sun-kissed humidity amidst the shuffling beats and jazzy keys.

Leonel Castillo - "Stone Peace" (Delano Smith remix)
Review: Sushitech finally unveil the second round of Tessera remixes and they've really gone to town here with contributions from Chicago and Detroit heavyweights. Kenny Larkin takes over the A Side with a superlative remix of Anonym, infusing "Go Deeper" with some vintage Motor City soul via deep organ flourishes and searing strings. This is more than matched by Chez Damier who adds some real bump to the drum programming of Soulmate's "Set Fire To My Feet", retaining the bassline throb but replacing the hopeful mood with something altogether sleazier. Finally Leonel Castillo's subaqueous exercise in filtered jazzy deepness is given a soaring once over from Delano Smith, who adds some weight to the groove and introduces delightful chords for good measure. Essential stuff!

They've come through with plenty of promising new talent since last year, and this latest EP is a collaborative effort from a further selection of new producers on the scene. Aries drops a delightful little house bomb in "You Make Me Wanna" - one for the garage heads or the lovers - while LK's "It's Been A Long Time" is a scorching disco bomb filled with neat little samples. The flip sees Steven BC go for a bittersweet approach on his tight little house bomb "Nice & Slow", leaving Deejay Astral to enter the deepness with the utterly lovely and vocal-led "Never Gonna Let You Go".

"Cruel Intentions", then, should be essential listening for anyone who enjoys the trio's trippy, clandestine blends of tech-house rhythms and off-kilter pop savvy. The winding, '80s-pop influenced original - blessed with a typically evocative spoken word original - is joined by a solid trio of remixes. Grant Nelson - "In The Dark" (5:59)
Pontchartrain - "Don't Change It Up" (5:43)
Goddard - "Almasti" (6:11)
Review: With such a star-studded line-up of old and new talent involved, it's little surprise to find that De La Groove's fourth vinyl release is seriously good. It's that good, in fact, that there's no space to go into each and every highlight. Instead, we'll point you in the direction of some of our personal favourites. Check first the breezy and soulful US garage revivalism of Art of Tones' impeccable "So Sweet", before turning your attention to the dreamy, vibraphone-laden deep house sexiness of Cody Currie's "As of Yet (featuring Joel Holmes)". Grant Nelson's "In The Dark" is a fine slab of late '90s style UK garage, while Goddard's "Almasti" sounds like a nu-disco era riff on Pepe Bradock deep house classic "Deep Burnt".

Break Of Day
Thinking Of You (Peter Christianson LCG remix)
Review: Canadian Atnarko first hooked up with the Lazy Days crew last year for his Solid Ground EP featuring Nica Brooke. Obviously more than pleased with their choice, the label welcome him back again, this time for the Thinking Of You EP featuring vocals from none other than Sam Mollison, the voice behind Sasha's "Magic". "Thinking Of You" is a slow burning and rolling track, the addictive vocal complimenting the simple yet effective musical basis. On remix duty, Peter Christianson from LawnChair Generals speeds things up with quickened tempo and disco sirens aplenty. "Break The Day", completes the EP with a melodic and thundering house record from Atnarko that will no doubt seep its way onto many discerning dancefloors this summer.

Attias - "Blue Note"
Simon Weiss - "City Drum Central"
Aldo Kapone - "Just Dance"
Maurice - "Still"
Review: Swiss label Freedom Soundz serves up a menu of four deep house variants with their latest VA Sampler Volume. Opener "Blue Note" from Attias brothers Alex and Stephane is an upbeat and percussive mind bender; long synth notes and a mellow bass line give a languid style, serving as a pleasing contrast to its dancefloor-centric vocal line. A Side counterpart "City Drum Central" exudes jazzy piano riffs and an upbeat, straight house beat. Shuffling along with metallic snares, a heavy electronic keyboard comes into play and punches its way through till its bitter end. On the flip, Aldo Kapone's "Just Dance" begins with a crisp rhythmic intro and heavy kick, before steering us into an unexpected but hypnotic swagger. Maurice's "Still", with its delayed stabbing echo, steady piano and suave jazzy hats, stands out at the sophisticated deep house fan's choice cut on this release.

Review: Stevo is the man behind this newly launched Kioto label and it is said to "draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of Japanese culture." Elements of both traditionalism and modernity colour the grooves and meticulously designed artwork houses the first 12". It's a various artists affair that launches with the lithe and silky minimalism of Audio Werner's 'Whistler.' VICARI offers a delightfully original sound with wispy melodies and punchy kicks that makes for irresistible body music. Stevo's 'Hanma' is blissed-out cosmic tech and this most classy inaugural EP closes with the silky and loopy charm of Peer Du's 'Whereabouts.'

Review: It's been 12 years since Creative Swing Alliance's Pablo Valentino launched the Faces label, and this is only the imprint's 16th 12" release. Despite the sometimes infuriating infrequency of their releases, Faces records are rarely less than inspired, offering a deliciously soul-soaked take on deep house. This split EP contains four superb offerings in the label's trademark style. There's some loopy, Rhodes-laden goodness from S3A (doing a good impression of Moodymann), a more bumping but thrillingly immersive outing from 4004 & Sebastien Vorhaus (the sumptuous "Selections B"), a lovingly loose and sweet blast of soft focus deepness from Valentino under his Creative Swing Alliance alias, and a bassy chunk of eyes-wide-shut house from Aurelian AKA KM3.

Soundstream - "Disco Crash"
Review: Berliner Frank Timm brought us the second release in the Sound Sampler series, showcasing his work under the Soundstream, Soundhack and T.S.O.S. monikers. The A-side opens with Soulhack's remix of Auto-Repeats' "Auto Disco", featuring an undulating bassline beneath rough textures teetering on the edge of collapse. The kick drum hammers through a raw acid line distorted beyond recognition, while the female vocal intermittently tries to escape the overwhelming wall of sound. Soundstream's "Disco Crash", on the flip, adds a polished touch to the release, delivering a shoulder twitching bass line, crashing textures and flickering guitar licks that can't fail to make a crowd move. As always with Mr Timm, this is essential.

'My Feelings For You', with all its stellar vocal sample work, gets a stunning dub house rework from Mark Knight, while further soulful house and Detroit tech cuts follow from Joshwa, Hotmood and JARC. Review: A fully global affair; new Slovenian white label House On Wax follow their launch this spring with a four-piece that spans the world's dancefloor with more authentic deep house charm and spirit. Miami's Avstin Frank gets all warm with dusty chords and brush drums on "Trasladar", Manchester's D.Kno sets off a cool breeze with the sweetly shuffled "24/7", Buenos Aires' Franco Strato lays down a super cool soulful jacking vibe while Ukraine's "Kiddmisha" brings us back down the earth in a classic Chicago haze. Deep, limited and properly understated; this is what house white labels were made for.

Review: Concrete has been integral in the rebirth of Parisian clubbing culture, offering a unique 19 hour long party that begins early on Sunday and goes on and on in the picturesque setting of the Port De La Rapee on the River Seine. Looking to expand, this new Concrete Music label should operate as an extension of the party commencing with a series of three planned Textures releases inviting local talent and previous guests to contribute. Volume 1 inaugurates the label in style, brandishing original productions from the excellent Jared Wilson, Awanto 3 and Nsyde artist Samuel Andre Madsen as well as Parisian producer S3A (Sampling As An Art). "Sit On This" is a typically dusty slice of house from Awanto 3 which contrasts nicely with the percussion heavy classicist house of "The Ravist" by S3A and the deep acid of Jared Wilson. Madsen takes it deep and moody on "Waterwalking Paris" to end a superb and diverse debut release.

Review: Untold Stories finally tells their first story in Various Artists form, reaching their hands deep into a forgotten folk corpus to retranslate each tale to we, who only speak house and techno. Described heartily as a ripple-maker, Lebanese producer Nesta devises his own folk fairytale with 'Bouchees A La Reine', with Axel S leading on with a nostalgic and groovy jazzy infused minimal track to counterpoint the A's meaty copra. On the B, Sonus takes the help with a surreal electro-dance burbler on which a winsome voice repeats the word "dreaming". And closing out comes the flat beat knockout 'Like This Girl', an instructive melody for future storytellers.

Review: Munich nu-balearic crew Public Possession broaden their horizons beyond said sensibilities, but instead venture further into oddball groove territory; in this case it's Sweden. First up Born Free main man Samo DJ delivers the low slung funk groove of "Triad Board Meeting" (sounding like some creepy, old midi file.. yet not altogether unpleasant) while Baba Stilz delivers some of the weirdest deep house you'll hear this year on on "Pacific Times" and "Beirut" respectively. But they save the best for last on the explosive collaboration between Samo and Cititrax troublemaker Tzusing on "Hollabackboi", a smashing, pop-inflected curveball that'll flip your mind.

Review: "One swallow doesn't make a summer" isn't just a famous aphorism by the philosopher Aristotle. It's also the name of this stalwart Running Back V/A compilation, which aims to live by the mantle of the famous Ancient Greek thinker's passion for gestalt consistency via a stunning series of house musical forward-movers. This time bringing five tracks across the spectrum of technicolour dance music, we kick off on the trance-dance pscyho-efflorescences of Ricardo Baez' 'The Age Of Energy' and end on the twinklingly ovular world-as-will that is Jonus Eric's 'Ribbon'. All tracks here burst with the energy of a flowerbed on steroidal growth serum, yeahsome yellers and puce petunias flourishing with lady-lucky eudaimonia.

Review: LEGRAM VG & Rubber Ducky Records have come together for this playful Game of Tunes series, and the third entry in it offers four more wafty tech house delights. Baldov's 'Dance Connection' is a balmy and breezy opener with some warm synth injections to soften the rickety tech beats. Sif B's 'Small World' is a bubbly cut with sci-fi motifs and Buenaguas's 'Music Or Noise?' Marries distant cosmic pads with sparky synth sequences that make for some nice colourful combinations. Alich's 'The Evidence' is the best of the lot - a pent-up, garage-tinged kicker with ass-wiggling beats and acid prickles. Pure heat.

Feel Like I Feel (Legowelt remix)
Review: Released back in January, Tyson Ballard's "Feel Like I Feel" was something of a deep house gem - a tasty fusion of warm, dreamy keys, hazy chords and hissing analogue beats. Here, Ballard hands it over to two mighty talents - deep house veteran John Daly and analogue eccentric Legowelt - for reinterpretation. Daly kicks things off, layering Ballard's original chords and keys over a thicker, fatter groove and a killer analogue bassline. Legowelt takes a different tack, choosing to emphasize the depth of the Australian's original via shuffling, soft focus beats, woozy chords, drowsy synthesizer melodies and yearning vocal samples.

Review: Scottish label Craigie Knowes are back with Knowes Universal Broadcast: Seg 1. Considering the likes of local heroes Vince Watson and Stephen Brown; we know the Scots have knack for hi-tech soul and this release does not disappoint. Starting out with "Baltra" then the epic acid odyssey "Fade Away", we then get treated to the soulful and emotive electro of Highfield Casual's "Highfield Daze" which will appeal to fans of Gerald Hanson or Gerald Donald without a doubt. On the flip Natureboy Gold (what a name!) serves up "Prozac Test" which is reminiscent of Laurent Garneier's acid epics of the mid noughties; you can't beat that for a compliment can you? Finally "Qaua" by Stephen Simpson closes the release out in sublime and dubby deep house territory; loving' it! Tip!

Review: The Lit Level series continues with another strong, multi-artist collection of deep house cuts. Baltra steps up first, combining Motor City style cymbals patterns, lilting chord progressions and punchy drum machine hits on the fuzzy "Never Let Go (Of Me)", before YancityGurl dives deep into the ocean depths via the rock solid kick drums and woozy pads of "We Leave". Flip for a chunk of tech-tinged, ghetto-inspired wooziness from experienced producer Ray Kandinski and the distorted, analogue-rich positivity of Sonderr's "Method". With its ghostly chords, quirky vocal samples, subtle acid lines and spacey chords, the track offers just the right balance between dancefloor weight and head-in-the-clouds beauty.

Swiss act Bandura has taken a 1946 live recording of The Duke From Trinidad and given it a stunning contemporisation. With a soulful groove and tight broken beats, it's a fine fusion of both generations and territories. Meanwhile on the B we find Resense regulars Sono Rhizmo letting rip with a cheeky 1950s voodoo jazz revamp. Both tracks are impeccable.

It's all about full throttle, emotionally intense house, soul and disco and that is exactly the case on Melvo Baptiste's opener 'Gonna Be Alright' (feat Jamie 3:26 & Annette Bowen) with its big diva vocals, piano stabs and hand claps. Mousse T keeps it silky and funky on the feel good 'Take It Back' and Riva Starr brings the swing to 'How It Feels'. Shakedown & Bootsy Collins's 'Funky & You Know It' (Shakedown Work That Mother mix) is a nice sleazy ass-shaker to close.

Review: There's something previously matter-or-fact about this debut EP from FUSE offshoot LOCUS's new multi-artist series, LCS TRAX. Musically it's as on-point as you'd expect, with the assembled artists and tracks prioritising no-holds-barred peak-time fun.
