And don't let the title fool you - it's not all accessible summer festival fare, in fact none of it is. It is all head down and serious tackle. 7053M4R14's '4 N3W HUM4N' is a driving, dark, visceral sound with raw breakbeats powering through the cosmos. Rec_Overflow offers a moment to catch your breath with some slower, dubby rhythms on 'Pocket Dial' and Pauk explores twitchy future synths capes and post-human transmissions on 'Shiawasena Fukushu'. Promising/Youngster shuts down with a sense of optimism and hope with the airy melodies and slithering electro drum patterns of 'Arbey.'

Review: A hefty double 12" from Generator features a slew of basement techno bombs from both sides of the Atlantic (oh, and Australia). Other highlights include the broken beats and woodblock percussion on Plural's "07" and the more experimental vibe of "Fine & Mellow" by Mathematics boss and general Chicago underground legend, Jamal M. An unmissable collection of tracks packaged in highly collectable artwork by Alan Oldham, who was also responsible for the superbly illustrated Defenders Of The Deep House World EP that surfaced on Third Ear a few months back.

Review: Hydraulix Records continues to push the boundaries of ravey techno with Va03, a four-track EP that transports listeners back to the early '90s warehouse scene with its infectious energy and relentless beats. Review: From the title to the artwork, everything about this EP screams high energy and peak time dancefloor explosions. And so it proves when you drop the needle into the first groove. It is Acid Mutant who kicks off with 'Disco Balls' which has lacerating synths spraying about the mix over turbo charged beats. P.I.N.O. Lopez then keeps up the pressure with 'Welcome To Rave' with its squiggly acid lines and hurried, hard hitting drums. Review: Native New Yorker Adam "X" Mitchell has long been a fan of collaboration, with a long list previous sparring partners including Ancient Methods, Navario Suaro and, of course, his brother Frankie Bones. For Mutiny & Disorder, he's joined forces again with fellow techno veteran Alistair "Perc" Wells. The duo begin in typically retro-futurist fashion on "Mutiny", whose rising and falling synth lines, dense beats and clanking hits recall the early days of Roman techno. The "back-to-the-future" feel continues with the warped riffs, spacey electronics, apocalyptic textures, surging sub-bass and thunderous rhythms of flipside workout "Disorder".

Review: Perc's clearly a busy man these days; with his Perc Trax empire currently expanded to include two sub labels (Perc Trax Ltd and Submit) the revered UK industrial techno producer has joined forces with an equally respected Stateside counterpart on another label. The self explanatory AX&P operation sees Sonic Groove's Adam X align with Perc for a series of intermittent studio collaborations, with the decision to release under this joint banner due to the packed schedules of their respective labels. It's a collaboration that's apparently been in gestation for two years and it shows on this superb debut three track 12" AMPERE & OHM which brings out the best of both. Lead track "Coulomb" is a throbbing mass of tunnelling, weighty techno with sparse percussion snapping away sadistically as proceedings rumble menacingly forth. On the B Side "Dines" is wound tighter, unfurling with deadly precision into a worming DJ tool that takes on increasingly psychedelic qualities as it progresses, whilst "Joule" ensures the relentless nature is kept up but offers a more rhythmic based insight into the AP&X combination.

Review: The Danza Nativa label is fresh off the back of a fine fifth birthday celebratory 2 part compilation but wastes no time getting back to business. Alderaan is the man in charge with his second for the label and 'Transition' kicks off with some mad LFO business melting your mind. Psyk remixes it into a more paired back and spooky subterranean techno prowler. With 'Vortex' there is yet more nocturnal menace with ticking hi-hats seeing rhythm as squelchy, unsettling sounds peel off the beats. 'Futurismo' closes down with a gurgling lead line and distant sci-fi sounds that complete this most futuristic EP.

Review: Poggio and Gabriel Belabbas' cheeky Positive Future label is back once again to bring some playful mischief to the contemporary electro-techno scene. This split release showcases some of the artists orbiting the label, kicking off in spooky style with Aline Umber's 'Hypnotized', which features a pitched down vocal from Poggio no less. Juaan's 'Talt' is equally steeped in B-movie freakery and tongue-in-cheek samples, while Ramez takes things deeper on bass-toting dirtbag joint 'Devil Selectro'. Plazeg finishes the record off with the scattershot bleep feast 'German Physicist', which has a whale of a time plying its own line in gleefully macabre club music.

Review: To complement Erol Alkan's long overdue induction in the Fabric mix hall of fame, the London clubbing institution have pressed up this 10" featuring a rare original production from the Phantasy Sound boss backed with a early 90s rarity from Uwe Schmidt. Within the context of the mix the B Side precedes the A Side, but given how special an Erol Alkan original is, it's no surprise "Sub Conscious" is presented as the main draw here. Undoubtedly inspired by originators such as Hardfloor and Phuture, the acid soaked "Sub Conscious" still has a certain cosmic edge to it, whilst Phreak's "Acid On" sounds just as vital now despite the fact Schmidt originally recorded it some 23 years ago!

Review: The KHIDI label kicks off with a stern statement of intent from a batch of blackened souls in the techno domain. First up is Ancient Methods, who marches forth with the militant brutalism of "Cradle The True Side Of Reality" before OTHR turns in some cinematic EBM-flavoured intensity with "Damage Your Pain". Berlin-based Berghain warrior Phase Fatale turns up on the B-side with the hard thrum of "Cursing Losses", before Roman delivers the finishing blow with the mean-spirited surge of "Break The Matrix". This is maximalist techno with an industrial bite just begging to be heard clanging around darkened cathedrals of endless night.
