Review: B.Love is next up on Leeds legend Ralph Lawson's 20/20 label having come to his attention on Record Store Day 2024 with his Music Dance Experience EP and then later that day when playing as a resident at the Bizarre Trax party Lawson was en route to play. Here he showcases his electro sound across four cuts starting with 'Rhythm Freq', a celestial and disco-tinged sound. 'Movement Feeling' is a party starting cut with old school style and plenty of percussive lushness, then 'Soda Junior' brings louche, low-slung disco funk before 'Bisous' shuts down with more cosmic playfulness and vibrant synth colours.

Review: Inspired by "cosmic vibes and alien sounds", Cut Line Records is a freshly minted imprint founded by New York-based producers Majak and Diego Knows. Wisely, they've decided to set their stall out via a multi-artist EP that offers more than a few hints about what we can expect to hear in the months and years ahead. Naturally, they contribute, rounding off the EP via the collaborative 'Electrik Funk', a smooth, spacey and sub-heavy slab of tech-house funk marked out by cut-up vocal snippets, intergalactic-sounding motifs and rubbery beats. There's plenty to set the pulse racing across the rest of the EP though, from the acid-flecked tech-house funkiness of Pedro Goya's 'Celeste', to the star-fall haziness of Digital Pimps electro roller 'Warning Bells', via the electro-goes-breakbeat shuffle of 'Alien Vision' by Frankula and St Xose.

Review: The third EP by DJ Immortal aka Paul Tellimerg brings hip Latin voxes, metallic percs and generative stylings to a functional tech funk palette, serving several big and brash cuts, the logical result of a recent encounter between fellow producer Dawidu. A2 'Vitamin' especially compels with its vocoded interjections demanding we take our vitamins; and our personal fave 'AF Zone' provides a gasping closing counterpart, with its twanging Westworld guitars and hurried intakes of breath.

Review: Step aboard Venetia's spaceship and embark on a journey that is well with it across his fine debut EP. The ride kicks off with 'Camel' which is driven by a purring bassline that might evoke a familiar nostalgia. 'Jet' follows by weaving a hypnotic melody with sweet acid flourishes. 'The Mind' then delivers a powerful stew of vocoder-laced vocals and commanding bass and finally, 'Shangri-La Disco' closes the voyage with its striking, disorienting energy and unifying dance floor vibes. Venetia's ability to craft rich soundtracks is evident here and we're already looking forward to hearing what he has to say next.

Review: The "Rhythms Of The Pacific" series hears Vancouver label Pacific Rhythms reimagine dance music to aid in vast ocean traversals. Returning with another 12" sampler of material - the tracks are slated for inclusion in a celebratory ten year anniversary comp later this year - we hear Lnrdcroy, Waterpark, Kennedy and Active Surplus bring upper-echelonic, chameleonic beats of the much-less-peggable variety. 'Galaxio Salaxio' moves between dark synth and watery dub, scarcely preparing us for the immersive chordal swims that ensue on 'Coastal Plus'. Finally, 'Blue Beam' incurs an underwater search for coves and water pockets, as jets of pressure escape through riser synths and pufferfish drums.

Review: Lisbon's Hubble Recordings present their sixth release so far, keeping firm to their artist-specific EPs approach following brilliant releases from Kaesar, Costin RP, Miroloja, Octave and Alex Pervukhin. The latest is from tech house hurler Sublee aka Stefan Nicu, whose flight-booking impulse is as strong as ever, here having stopped over from far-flung Romania. After a string of both digital and vinyl stopovers, 'Personal Universal' appears as the pendular follow-up to 2024's Rawax debut 'Simple Two', bringing hugely doubled vocal cantata to a fervent acid build on the title track, while ensuers 'Simple One' and 'Laculesdesample' bring fidgety synth double bass and unorthodox percussions. Review: Ukraine-born, New York-based Kurilo's latest release captures a period of deep personal reflection and movement. Drawing inspiration from his time in Berlin and his tours around Europe, the music balances the frenetic energy of big cities with moments of solitude. 'Clarify That' opens with a direct, no-nonsense groove, setting the tone for a release that doesn't linger on nostalgia but instead pushes forward. Tracks like 'Save Kit' work with subtler textures, allowing bass and percussion to breathe, while 'Hanging Around' and 'Slender Machine' explore more unconventional rhythms and sonic space. Review: With both his experimental yehyeh and dancefloor focused ninih labels, founder Pieter Janson prefers to space out releases. This quality over quantity approach has thus far paid dividends, with the slim catalogues of both labels simply bursting with quality. Remarkably, this outing from sometime Kalahari Oyster Cult contributor RDS is only the sixth ninih EP in total. Predictably, it's superb, with the Amsterdam-based producer flitting between moody and ghostly breaks ('Bfc01'), lightly bleep-inflienced tech-house purism ('Vnecktechtheme'), heavily psychedelic late night intoxication (the alien-sounding chords, immersive pads and hallucinatory electronics of 'Tpssty'), and deep, spaced-out, hip-hop tempo electro ('Bfc04'). By jove, Janson's done it again!

Review: It's five up for the small but already fine NRV label who welcome Me&MyDog for this one. There is a darkness to their brand of tech that is evident from the off with 'Body Move' with its stark drum hits and twist deadline, all topped with some moody vocal mutterings. 'Moonside' brings kinetic rhythms that have carefully designed percussion sprinkled over the top to bring some looseness. A login bassline keeps things firmly rooted to the floor while 'GR308L (6AM mix)' gets more trippy with some acid modulations and wispy synths all fleshing out the minimal grove.

Review: Athens-based label Ethos is looking to build on the good start it made with its first two outings with a third raw and direct EP. DimDJ is a legend in Greece and has been since the 90s when he first began making his mark. His sound is not all about nostalgia though - he opens his Welcome To This World EP with 'This Little Face' which is a deep house reverie with painterly pads smeared over dusty drums. Nice analogue textures make it all the more lived in and a Beatless version strips away everything but the suspensory synths. 'Welcome To This World is another lo-fi and crackly deep house meditation and 'Hyper Tonic' flips the script with some undulating acid lines, more light synth work and hissing hi-hats.

Review: After the inexorable 'Techno Disco Tool', Mella Dee shot like a shuttle from heartthrob disco-techno editor to all-star producer in his own right. 'Steady Movin' hears the British DJ and producer nod to Warp-era Yorkshire breaks, with his native Sheffield sound-checked through four in-yo-face selections, including 'NRG VIBES' and 'Fiedel Played A Big One'. Review: RFXN kicks off life with a new single from David Agrella which has seen early support from Ricardo Villalobos. First off he offers up his own Acid Mix of 'Perro Balearico' and it's a supple, deep and dubby track with liquid synths and prog chords that sound both retro and future all at once. The original is a more dreamy and spaced-out sound for 5 am sessions. On the flip is a more punch but still silky and warmly melodic remix from Mario Liberti before last of all, Gabriel Rai gets darker. His drums hit harder and the synths are moodier as he takes dancers down a late-night path of mystery and intrigue.

Review: Kommuna marks its tenth year of activity with this new dancefloor-focused record from various artists whose music "reflects the glimmer of hope that music provides during these dystopian times." Fabricio's 'Collateral Effect' opens with a strident nu-disco sound and retro-future chords that get you moving. Charleze's 'Rage Power' is another chunky disco stomper with some nice cosmic melody and Wooka's 'Tirty Dalk' hits harder with mechanical beats and churning bass. Review: Robert Drewek vs Tomie Nevada's 'Time 4 More' EP was originally released on Unleash Records in 2005. Nine years on and Rawax are reissuing it on black wax and the tunes sound as good as ever. 'While He's Away' is a slick blend of garage-infused house drums and warm synth pulses with catchy vocal samples that bring a hint of old school. On the flip is 'Down With the Bass' which flips the script with a stripped back and militant but silky groove, dubby pads and a head's down vibe that really hypnotises.

Review: Global Underground is a bastion of compilation cool and it has been for decades. The series has seen plenty of top tier DJ stars take charge and soundtrack cities all over the world from Budapest to Los Angeles via Miami. It has also saved up a fine line in late night after-hours soundtracks over the years and that sub-series, Global Underground: Afterhours , now hits volume number ten with anther tasteful collection of tunes on CD. The vibes are deep and introspective as you would expect, with appearances from such seasoned greats as John Tejada, DJ Hell and Seth Troxler, and needless to say, is always high on quality.

The five tracker explores the tension between peace and conflict and notes the forest as a sanctuary for strength and reflection, somewhere to find respite from the chaos. Review: The world of dark disco tech is vast and so covers plenty of niches and nuances with artists all over the world adding their voice to the conversation. Spanish label Waste Editions offers up four more to the mix here with another well-assembled VA. Dark Vektor's 'Amb La Mirada Ens Menjarem' begins with some synth sounds that evoke a horror scene over snappy drums and sleazy guitar riffs. Synth Alien's 'Replica Cosmica' gets a little more loose but still comes with evocative vocal samples and a characterful world of synth sounds, some that fart, some that gurgle, some that amuse. Imiafan's 'Stupaj (Keen K RMX)' is another prying, loopy sound brought to life with myriad effects, textures and vocal snippets and Wardum shuts down with 'Wrambling' which has grinding bass and scuttling effects topped with occult vocals.

Review: Having made a name for herself via a series of fine EPs for Shall Not Fade, Chiwax and Tresydos (the latter in collaboration with Vince Void), rising star Lis Sarroca makes her Smallville label debut with a quartet of typically impressive cuts. The Spanish producer is in fine form on opener 'Atacote', where positive and gently sunny piano motifs and Italian dream house influenced pads ride a smooth bassline and shuffling deep house drums. 'Breaks Reminder' sees her successfully fuse the immersive dreaminess of classic Smallville deep house with shuffling electro-breaks and tight TB-303 acid lines, while 'Early Years' is a sumptuous slab of picturesque deep house dreaminess. To round off a brilliant EP, she serves up the revivalist electrofunk-meets-early European house excellence of 'Might Be'.

Review: Lemaia's latest introduces rising Italian artist Alex Dima for four fresh tracks of futuristic tech house. There is a cinematic element to the crispy metallic drums and evocative pads of 'Running Against Time' while 'Love Perspective' has pensive pads melting away behind snappy drum work and gloopy bass. The precision-designed drums of 'What About The Future' and the fizzy synths that buzz about the mix make it another fresh sound while 'Mass Destruction' shuts down with a more looming sense of doom. Review: Exxtra Beats Records backs up its commitment to pushing things on with a new four-tracker of minimal and tech cuts. Edo Ecker's 'Extraluxxo' has warped synth lines that encourage introspection while the snappy beats make you move physically. Leff's 'Future Problems' has hazy and positive arpeggios that toot away over sustained chords and move at a nice inviting pace. Little Sea offers the snappy drums and gurgling acid lines of 'How I Wanna Feel' while Andrea Bertoli & DJ Bogdan's 'Extremely On Line' is a snappy and upbeat cosmic tech cut with wonky lines adding the charm.

Review: Contemporary bass music up-and-comer Pîrvu returns to Meander with a clever take on breakstep, breakbeat and electro, the 'Skylark' EP. With the little brown job of a bird held firmly in mind - its avian grace matched well by the light, but also hot-winged determination of the title track - we find ourselves compelled to dance with both light and hot footing in equal measure. Following that up, there's 'Edge Of A Strange Euphoria', with its phat FMs and murky narration proving that some if not most states of ecstasy are mixed bags, provided they do the proper job of challenging our inner status quos. Finally 'Zuzu' ends things on a franker note of gaslamp-lit acid, with Dan Andrei also lending a hand to produce a neat 4/4 version.

Review: Global Underground has always been right up there with some of the most esteemed mix series brands in all of dance music. It is long-running and has many seminal entries from top names soundtracking various hotspots around the world. This new one widens the remit and is a more broad collection of beats for the after-hours setting. It's the tenth volume in the series and is another well-curated one with a blend of deep, late-night, twisted and freaky sounds from names like ARTBAT, Dino Lenny, Ede & Seth Troxler, Cagedbaby & Dorothys Fortress and many more, all on nice blue wax.

Review: Ooof. Sometimes there's nothing better than that in between vibe, beats and noises that speak to genuine rave, one white glove in techno, another rooted in house. 'Sirius D' certainly speaks to that need. Squelchy in the right places, oh-so-hypnotic but fundamentally punchy, it's halfway between sending you off on a blissful cloud and slapping you around the chops in an attempt to revive at 6AM. Nicola Cruz's Debug mix opts to make sure that blow lands, stomping and slamming but not so much of a groove to hold on to. No criticism, though. The roll returns later, though, 'Declination' looking to those sparse but precious dancefloors that make you realise this is still no a mainstream competition - equal parts eerie and warm. Throw in 'Right Ascension', which essentially captures all of the above and then hits 11 on the scale of whatever we're judging this on, and the deal is sealed.

Review: Amplified People is a prolific French artist based in Paris who roams from minimal glitch to bleeping house and driving techno. Here he brings his class to the fledgling Arpanet label following a debut EP from founder and French veteran DJ Speep back in October last year. It's Ghost Black that opens up with sleazy and ghetto-friend tech complete with plenty of Motor City style. There are then melodic stompers like 'Canon Jack' and brilliantly deep and sleepy cosmic techno trips like 'Solitaire Wargames' to make this a real doozy.

Review: Southern Magic is a sub-label of Secret Society Chile, but there is nothing submissive about the sounds of this new various artists 12". Valerio Vaudano soundtracks the end of the party with a big house bouncer full of vamping chord energy and euphoric little vocal stabs that cannot fail to send people home happy. Luca Piermattei then welcomes you to the after party with scuffed up and frazzled deep house drums under mind melting synth modulations on 'Quilmes.' Flip it over for VICARI's fizzing but feel good tech house on 'Residual Bitterness' and Lootbeg's brilliantly futuristic 'Transitions,' which is alive with alien lifeforms and a crispy tech beat.

Review: Not to be confused with Stefan Robbers' early alias, this Florence 12"series reaches back to 2013 amidst a string of low key club cuts with an emphasis on quality and originality. On the 14th in the series, we lead in with the snappy, mellow electro tones of 'Modmood' with its poppy vocal hooks in the midst of the 808 jamming. 'Crazy' offers another strong singalong moment as we get snatches of a Beyonce classic set to a brooding electronic backdrop. This series is a unique enterprise exploring the divide between underground dance music and mainstream pop and coming up with something truly compelling which might just create an unforgettable moment in the club.

Review: The Digital Finesse label was founded as an outlet for two artists, Jimmy Batt and Blinkdus Dischetto. This release is the latter's first on the imprint and it's a biggie: a debut album that does a terrific job in showcasing his hybrid style. That naturally comes to the fore on opener 'Oulala', a chunky blend of synth-heavy nu-disco, French touch funkiness and the more picturesque early deep house works of Pepe Bradock. Squelchy acid bass, cut-up vocal snippets and sun-bright melodies mark out 'Allez Ouste', while 'Corsica Express/Nuit Squanche De Solid State (Tascam Dub)' cannily combines ambient and acid house. Elsewhere, he beefs up the beats ('Le Dernier Des Cristaux'), displays his mastery of 1990s style IDM ( 'Alain Des Cloches') and successfully whips out his MPC (the boogie-tastic 'Breuil Voisinage').

Review: Pauli brings some class to this tense and effective new EP on Shoyu, a young new label that has already made some great moves with its first two releases. 'FirstH' pairs a driving ow end with some nice sparring synth work and killer bass. 'Bodyrise' is another perfectly reduced sound with effective drums, sleek cosmic synths and a rasping bassline to counterpoint the smooth pads. Add in two more blends of physical drums and emotive synth pens and you have some smart and classy cuts for knowing dancefloors.

Review: Hamburg-based Rupert Marnie helped found The Press Group back in 2015, and has since been weaving a compelling strain of minimal tech house on his own terms. Now he makes it over to emergent label System Error for a suite of head-tweaking workouts which tip closer to techno, especially on the rushing arps of opening track 'Prospect 8'. 'Tilt' toys with some trance elements and 'Mystery House' locks in a sub-heavy bassline and spooky theremin-style leads up top, while 'Clean' reaches for a sweeter, synth-led mood and captures it beautifully.

Review: Robert Witschakowski has been a man on an electro mission (as well as many other side mission, to be really quite honest) for as long as we can remember. His furtherment of electro knows no bounds and it has often come in association with Dutch label Clone and its offshoots, though here he has his They Arrive EP reissued by fellow Dutch label Creme Organization. It landed first back in 2011 but has aged like fine wine and sounds as good as ever - there are a mix of creepy and atmospheric pieces, sick dancefloor rhythms and plenty more to enjoy here.

Review: For their tenth release, the Hanover-based label Malonian re-sign the now firmly established Andrei Ciubuc with the new 'Gotta Have House' EP. Since 2015, Ciubuc has helped bolster the Romanian spirit in minimal house and techno, releasing seven EPs for the likes of Cuplet, Tooloop, UVAR, and one other release for Malonian (their debut release), totting up to seven releases besides this one so far. Boasting a heavy rotation by many a major league DJ, 'Gotta Have House' is a synaptic sonic papier mache, the evident talent with which its beats and ambiences were compiled proving the reason for its becoming a favourite on the circuit. Echoes of deep Chicago house are firmly evident on the swelling chordisms heard on the A2, 'One Of A Kind', while the radiophonic jumps and jitters of 'Gotta Work It Out' prefer down-the-phone-line soul samples and sterling vocal science; 'Baba', finally, is the brukky closer of choice, and our future-facing favourite.

Review: Secondo is an artist we have long been keen to hear more from so this return to vinyl is welcome indeed. It comes on a hand-stamped white label 12" in the form of 'Unlikely Companions'. This one is a cosmic deep house sound with an alien energy, crispy hits and smeared pads that bring colour and introspection. The drums are well designed to and help make this one as heady as it is cinematic. Marco Passarani's Nature remix on the flip gets a little more warped and dark with unsettling sci-fi ambiance.

Review: Nemo Vachez's debut album Forest III is a great statement of his studio mastery across 12 tracks that span space house, dark funk and minimal. His approach to rhythm is spare and he often constructs his grooves from fragments, loops and stripped-back kicks. Plenty of evocative details from police sirens to glowing bell hits add colour and charm and there is a futuristic sense to every tack here - the melodies are serene and clean, bright and hi-fi. It all adds up to a compelling journey from the Frenchman.
