Stand By 4 Fast Beats (5:14)
Drop (KZ1 remix) (5:47)
Review: Reissue! Brent Newitt's Vinyl Fanatiks has become a key player in the reload game as they continue to excavate pivotal pieces of wax from the 90s in order to preserve the foundations and make sure the stories of the often over-looked early artists are told. 3rd Rail is a great example; the brainchild of Bournemouth's Ben James - he only released this one record on Delirious in 1992 before getting on with his life.... Only to realise that almost 30 years later, the OG copies of "Look No Further" have been known to fetch over L200! Although you would be better off with this crisp, remastered version instead. With all four tracks, including the original remixes from KZ1, this is a fitting reload of 3rd Rail's short-but-powerfully formed legacy. Watch out for those 4x4s on "Stand By 4 Fast Beats". Woof!

Review: A&A aka Anton Kubikov and Artem Rudakov, share a groovy, Detroit-influenced casualiser of an EP, bouncing between slipstreams of rubbery bass and slick, soulful chord voicings. Whatever said "blue transfer box" is, we're unsure whether it's wise to ask what exactly said box is transferring, or simply leave the mystery be. After all, it sounds great. And besides, we've also a 'Slow Disco Smoke Machine' to marvel at, one which wafts effortlessly between dreamboats of blue pad smoke and acidic stabs, facilitating the necessary headspace for 'Deep Thought'.

Review: Acid For The Grandma's fourth release is another boundless trip into warped rhythms and surreal soundscapes with acid liquid textures that make for a psychedelic experience that sparks the imagination while pulling you into otherworldly dimensions. 'Login Beat' casts you adrift amongst circling snares over jacking beats and 'Biancone Interno' then cuts loose with freewheeling arms and sci-fi motifs that leave long neon trails. 'Strobe Transforms Thinking' taps into more taught dub tech with sinewy leads and last of all, 'Light And Illusion' places you in a colourful world of refracted rhythm and slivery tech house drums sent back from a distant planet.

Aisha - "Give A Little Love" (8:59)
Jah Shaka, Norman Twinkle & Mad Professor - "African Message Dub" (7:34)
Review: Reggae singer, soundsystem heiress and "first lady of dub" Aisha (Pamela Ross) had already made an enduring name for herself by 1997, at which point she was already ten years into her singing career. A veritable blue-blood of soundsystem culture, Aisha had also already released four albums before 'Give A Little Love', which was contrastingly released as a standalone single not intended as a part of any wider record. Notably enough, it was also produced by Mad Professor, whose boxy, whistly production brings a ghostly, wastelain feel to the otherwise lively track; the instrumental version connotes entirely different themes without the lyrics, proving the infatuating effect of Aisha's words and delivery: with her, it becomes the quintessence of lovers' rock; a rousing floor-filler and lyrical impulsion to give over, so to speak, to the virtues of sharing, as opposed to withholding for oneself, love.

Review: Two toolroom essentials from Rob Amboule, former London stalwart come Frankfurt familiar. Where years of collecting and playing gradually evolved into Rob making music of his own, it wasn't long before he made the move permanent, settling in around the Main. A late stopover in Paris has now domino effected this new one: 'Wovv Tools' brings 'Melortra' and 'Kopuie', equal parts dance-incenting and vagus nerve-soothing. The B is especially brilliant, cycling through generative hypnotic whirls and sweller padwork.

Review: The fledgling WEorUS label rolls out more stylish, minimal and tech here from a trio of artists. Andrade goes first with 'Kubernetes,' a driving minimal house cut packed with hefty groove. It is followed by 'Content Security Policy' which is a slick, rhythm-forward roller that locks you into its flow. Flip to side-B and get swept into Dragosh's 'One Way,' a deep, hypnotic workout that's all tension and release and rounding off the trip is Fabrizio Siano's 'Control Your Emotions,' a poignant, late-night burner that delivers introspection through rhythm.

Review: Chicago house newcomer Arsene's 'Jack Shit' is guaranteed to detonate on impact, because its 7" release back in February has already done plenty of damage and got shouts from Luke Solomon, Moodymann and Danny Krivit among more. Now the Chicago upstart finally unleashes the full EP with three other, equally fresh cuts of raw, tracky Windy City house. Crunchy drum machines, hypnotic basslines and that unmistakable Chi-town swing are all present and correct here, with dark undertones but persuasive atmospheres all packed with Arsene's own urgent spark. No weak imitations here - this is a familiar analogue grit with future intent.

Review: After 15 years of live space-rock improvisations and jam sessions around Europe, Bambi Davidson finally got round to delivering their second LP last month. Warmly received by old fans and new, here we find the title track repurposed as an extensive 13 minute exercise in spatial expressionism. Dreamy, deep and full of endless twists and turns, this is the epitome of modern cosmicity. Claremont never cease to surge forward.

Review: Beau operates at the sharp end of the UK electronic underground and creates an immersive, dark ambient sound that is influenced by trailblazers like Burial. His soundscapes combine ethereal textures with moody rhythms and that is very much the case here on Lacuna, his new album for Feat PLAtes. It is full of roomy sounds, icy glass synths, smeared pads, late-night moods and evocative atmospheres that draw you in ever deeper, sometimes looking over your shoulder, always lost in deep thought. A real lost tape from the short-lived night bus genre, you could say.

Review: The long-running and influential US house label Moods & Grooves welcomes BitterSuite aka Jon Gray for a new EP that finds him distilling plenty of influences into his Compulsive Response EP, which is perfect for mind, body and soul. The title cut is a light and skipping house sound infused with soul-drenched synth warmth, 'Flash Flood' has a more far-sighted sense of cosmic futurism to it and 'Turbulence In The Valley' slows things right down to a delightfully airy and late-night vibe with languid drums and swirling pads. Shutting down a sophisticated EP is the dusty deep house of 'Compulsive Response' with yet more irresistibly emotive synths and wispy melodies.

Now, four decades later, Stop 4 Remixes breathes new life into the cult classic with four dynamic reworks. Woody Bianchi delivers a masterclass in mixing with 'Pushed Up' while Danilo Braca (aka Danyb) offers two deep, expansive edits tailored for discerning dancefloors. Review: Blending vapourwave haze with Balearic ease, while dipping into Italo house and post-disco playfulness, the debut Bar Part Time EP delivers four tracks that feel nostalgic but entirely fresh. 'Bath Bomb' with its cheesy synths and 80s flair are softened by lush pads and a groovy, laid-back rhythm. It's a hip, shimmering introduction that balances irony with sincerity. 'Morning Dew' is more club-friendly, mixing jackin' house energy with ambient textures to create a track that's as dreamy and driving. On Side-B, 'Blurry Moon' adds urban flavor and depth, led by a bouncy bassline and island percussion. Its gorgeous keys and loose funk make it a highlight. 'Wine 69' ends things with a tropical mood. African island-inspired rhythms, chant-like vocals and a shuffling groove lend it a transportive quality. Together, these tracks form a cohesive and adventurous debut.

All hitting hard with an old-school, sequencer-happy flavour, one which requires no second-guessing, our faves here have to be the basal FM roller 'Zone' and the brash, trashyard B-fronter 'No Frequency', both of which make deft use of the same bassline, yet each to drastically different effec.

Review: Cirkle's Vakandra's Spell delivers four serious techno burners, each track packing its own punch and depth. Side-1 kicks off with the title track, 'Vakandra's Spell,' a sci-fi stomper that echoes the hypnotic intensity of Jeff Mills' Purpose Maker work. It's slightly demented yet profoundly captivating, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that pulls you in. Following this, 'Lunar Orbit' presents a fast-paced, loopy groove that drives the energy forward, making it a perfect fit for peak-time sets. On Side-2, 'Evolving' stands out with its chord-based loop style, offering a deep, rhythmic flow that keeps the momentum going. Review: Renato Cohen has been kicking out jams of all shapes and sizes for many years, but this new outing on French house classicists Skylax amounts to some of his best work in ages. 'Roaring' is a disco-tech cut with dazzling arps loping in sugar, pixelated circles over the striking beats. 'We Desert' then gets more loose with synths spraying about with a mind of their own and plenty of cosmic colour. On the flip, the open gets reworked twice, first into a more heads down and bendy acid workout for the afters and also as a hands-in-the-air piano Balearic classic.

Review: Italian trio Colours shared only three singles with the world, and all were made in the hotbed period of 1985-86, when labels such as Discomagic monopolised the roost. 'Lonely Night' was their manifest magic trick; its poking, reverb-slurried lead is a slick staccato, upon which a lonesome vocal line by singer Mauro Santoro calls out into the night from the picture window. A kind of emo efflux is at play, where the 80s fascination with vulnerability is set to the brunt-borne, sublimated beat of the discotheque. Little is known about this band save for Santoro, making this a collectors item less concerned with band BTS or making-of shenanigans, and more the inherently appreciable shape of a sound.

Review: Pretty much does what it says on the tin, this one. Classic Tyree Cooper productions in all their glory, plus some remixes of them from fellow US greats. Cooper was, of course, an early pioneer of what was known as hip-house - a raw mix of hip-hop and house that was short-lived, probably because the man himself perfected it and few could ever do much more with the blueprint. 'Hardcore Hip House (Tony Humphries mix re-edit)' is dusty, raw, piano-laced house excellence, 'Acid Over (Mike Dunn edit)' is a more frenzied 303 workout and 'I Fear The Night (feat Chic - vocal mix)' is a jack track for dark and strobe lit floors. 'Video Crash' shuts down with a coarse and textural collision of drums, synths and crashing hits.

Review: This second set of remixes from Paris-based eight-piece Cotonete's "Super-Vilains" album is another heavyweight selection with Alex Attias, DJ Deep and Romain Poncet and Aleq Notal all coming correct. For his part, Attias keeps the jazz-tinged Latin vibes front and centre with a sunny, sweaty jam laced with house goodness. DJ Deep & Romain Poncet dub things out for those more subtle moments in the night, when a slick rolling groove is enough to hypnotise a crowd, and then it's pure bumping and jazzy deep house from Aleq Notal. With six tracks on show, there's plenty to set the senses tingling, from the jazzy, dreamy and soulful downtempo beats of impeccable opener 'I Need To Know' and the joyous, piano-sporting sunshine house excellence of 'Do You Think About Me', to the rising, subtly jazz-flecked deep house perfection of 'Freddie's Groove' (a kind of Crackazat update of Pepe Bradock's 'Deep Burnt', with added horns) and the broken jazz-house-soul of Potash Twins collaboration 'Phantom'. This time out the Dallas, Texas resident lands on Dolfin Records with a deeper sound that is raw and heavy. 'Choose' rides on knackered-sounding kick with just deft synth smears for company. Though Bryce needs no introduction as an unstoppable force in the modern day breaks sequencing game, we nonetheless must restate the special intent of the sublabel: these are relatively experimental "massives", swapping out functional flathead beats for heavier, pozi-driven drillings. That watery, pitch-warped breaksy mid-90s jungle era is given a full audit on this new 13th addition to the label, and things gets increasingly weird, wet and wild: 'Trouble Yu' especially sounds like a bong-hitter from another universe, its impact unsuspectingly poking through a wacky, radiophonic, space dubbed texture.

It's the Brit-based Dockett Eddy who runs the Turnend Tapes label who steps up and brings some invention to four tracks of deeply atmospheric techno. 'Monofly' has modulated synth bleeps and squeaks and smeared pads, making it a trippy and futuristic sound, while 'Delayed Response' is slow, heavy and marbled with sombre, downcast chords that make it an introspective delight. '00:04' has a lithe, jittery rhythm with eerie pad swirls up top and 'Tapeline' brings a bit of late-night urban grit and cosmic eeriness. It's a moody EP, this, but one that is always intriguing and inviting.

Review: Very unorthodox and textured deep house from Edward with the self-referent 'Eddie Green' EP. The fourth record on Smallville, this one bolsters the label's enduring status as a weirdo's deep house favourite, with A-siders 'Primal Dream' and 'Blue Glue' bringing a kind of Seussian or Carroll-esque adventurism to the genre. All manner of slippery, slimy, verging on post-organic sound effect - be they from chup-chup birds, slerber gerbs, and every other 'nonsense' organism imaginable - are heard on these otherwise mechanistic beats, which, merely between the cracks, sound as alive as a collective fungus' inner mycelial core. Then, on the B, by far the standout is 'Eddie Green', which bowls down a suddenly, seemingly endless speedway of neon-lit whizz-past scenes, yet tempered by a still surreal animism shared on the A.

Review: Rotterdam-based techno label Arts returns with an EP from its founder, Emmanuel, including a remix from special guest German musician Shed. 4 cuts of banging big room techno, the first four tunes don't do anything radical, but they don't need to. These are tracks for DJs looking for fast-paced techno with big kicks, grooved-out percussion & dubby chords. The last track, 'Mascara', is probably the pick of the bunch, a surprising but very much welcome drum & bass cut that wouldn't sound out of place on techno-inspired drum & bass labels like Samurai Music or UVB-76.

Review: The Space Trace label keeps quality high with this fourth outing on wax. Eric Os is on the button for this one with 'Underworld' first to lure you into its world with gently broken bets and moody pads setting an eerie tone. 'Stereophysical' is more jacked up with fizzing synth lines and warped pads over future house beats and 'Elusive' bringing some trance energy to its flashy, bright synths. 'Electrodreammachine' is a wonky electro workout with withering sci-fi motifs, puling synth sequences and raw hits. 'Feeling Real' and 'Cherry Red' complete the EP with more blends of house, electroclash and sleazy guitar riffs.

Review: Something ineluctable about the year 1999 haunts music. It's as though the cusp of the millennium wrought a flurry of pre-terror romance, that last slice of postwar epochal gold reaching an ecstatic, elliptical peak before the crossing of a limp, millenarian threshold. Ernesto's second EP for French label Sour leaves us as loosened and open as any such nostalgic rendezvous could, assuming you were born before the fated date. Over brilliants like 'Morning Sweat' and 'Hardware Boogie', the producer joins the likes of Moop Jr. and Lekind in crafting timbral and sophisticated tactiles, chunked analogue basses and filter-designed keys, deepening and advancing our taste in Gay Paree sensuality.

Review: For their latest trick, Moods & Grooves has decided to introduce the world to a DJ/producer who has long been operating on the Detroit underground, Marvin Panther AKA Eternal Student. His debut 12" is a slick, deep and seductive affair featuring two original productions: the deep, starry and spacey broken house dreaminess of 'Transpose Deep' and title track 'Hear Me Through', a retro-futurist deep house number smothered in jazzy guitar motifs, lilting synthesizer lead lines and tactile electronic bass. That track is remixed twice on the A-side: first by Xander Dominique, who adds a little Motor City techno shimmer, and Deepset. The latter's take is deep, driving and sci-fi-fired whilst still retaining the hazy warmth of Panther's original mix.

Mr Love (long version) (6:12)

Mr Love (Luca Dell'Orso remix) (5:49)
Review: One of the joys of Italian dance music in the pre-house era was the sheer volume of records made by prolific producers but fronted by session singers and female vocalists plucked from obscurity. Eva's 1987 workout 'Take Me... Mr Love' is a fantastic example. Produced by frequent studio partners Mario Percalli and Piero Fidelfatti, the track combines the jaunty, synth-powered cheeriness of earlier Italo-disco workouts (most notably Kasso's 'Walkman') with the locked-in propulsion of early house music, Nile Rodgers inspired guitar licks and a memorable lead vocal from an uncredited vocalist (who, we assume, is called Eva). The superior 'long mix' and original instrumental come accompanied by a fresh rework by Luca Dell'Orso that turns it into a throbbing, stripped-back Italo-disco number of the sort made in 1983 and '84.

Review: Flabaire reaffirms his status as one of France's most refined producers with this masterful deep house EP on the no-nonsense Skylax label. Known for leading D.KO Records and contributing to Skylax House Explosion, this latest suggests a new level of artistic maturity across four tracks that channels the spirit of revered house artists like Black Jazz Consortium, Mike Huckaby and Soul Capsule. From the lush opener 'Echoes' to the dreamy closer 'La Haye,' each cohesive sound blends jazzy textures and ambient depth with club-ready grooves. This is timeless, introspective house music of the sort that is always going to appeal to the heads who like their sounds intimate, pensive and slow during for those cosy back rooms.

Review: Dookuzot is the entrancing debut from Floid & W92 aka Woody92, and it's released on their own Omen Wapta imprint. Across eight tracks, they craft a labyrinthine soundscape full of shadowy textures, tribal rhythms and eerie, dissonant tones that feels both ancient and futuristic-an ambient-techno blend that channels family history into sonic myth-making. Standout 'Maushe' hints at dancefloor tension, while 'Veriyou' is seriously deep and heady as part of what is a haunting, high-definition journey through imagined realms and moody post-human worlds.

'Cerere' sets the tone, its hypnotic groove and atmospheric textures creating a captivating sonic landscape. 'Rippol' picks up the pace, its driving bassline and infectious melodies building towards a euphoric climax. There's a similarly hazy and hypnotic feel about his latest EP, Dualism, which sees the East Londoner return to Livity Sound for the first time in the three years. He sets the tone via the EP-opening title track, a typical on-point combination of broken techno drums and drowsy dub techno style textures, before opting for more energetic Afro-tech beats and spacey, almost ambient chords on the equally brilliant 'New Day'. He further explores his love of polyrhythmic techno on feverish and mind-altering flipside opener 'Ritual', before joining forces with Lucky Pereira on cumbia-influenced, sub-heavy workout 'Scorpion'.

Review: Second time around for Doctor Soul's terrific reworks of cuts by yacht rock, AOR, quiet storm and West Coast rock legend Michael Franks, which originally appeared - and rapidly sold out - earlier in the year. First to get the (virtual) scalpel treatment is 1977 jazz-rock treat 'Chain Reaction', which Doctor Soul brilliantly turns into a loose-limbed, hip-hop-break-driven slab of extended yacht rock sunshine. Arguably even better is his extended take on sun-splashed 1985 jazz-funk/jazz-fusion gem 'When Sly Calls (Don't Touch That Phone)', which Doctor Soul lightly toughens up while respecting the original's fine groove. Also included is a shorter radio-friendly re-edit of the latter rework, which is handy for those whose audiences demand short cuts and quick mixes.

Review: Fred P's latest release 'Singular Point of Focus' EP feels like a late-night journey into the heart of the dancefloor, a space where euphoria meets introspection. From the opening track, it's clear that Fred is steering us toward something deeper than a simple collection of club-ready cuts. His use of augmented vocals adds an otherworldly quality, with tones that feel familiar but are impossible to place. The EP is a masterclass in controlled tension, with each track building in intensity without ever losing its groove. Fred's voice, subtly manipulated, dances through the layers of deep house rhythms, creating a sound that's both timeless and distinctly now. There's a sense that this is music for those who know, for selectors and dancers alike who understand the unspoken rules of the floor. The richness of the sound design - thick basslines, textured pads, and sharp percussion - draws you in, while the overall vibe remains firmly forward-thinking. This isn't just an exercise in nostalgia; Fred P has crafted a record that speaks to the future of house music while honouring its roots. Each track offers something different, from the floor-shaking opener to the more introspective closing cut, making it a perfect addition to any discerning DJ's crate.

Leading with The Funk District's 'Spiritual River', the EP captures a soulful disco flavour, driven by lush strings and a deep funk rhythm that makes it both dynamic and unique. Review: The SEVEN label has an 'in-between house and techno' ethos and next to tap into that is Berlin-based Tal Fussmann with some 90s-tinged prog house that radiates feel-good energy. Blending genre fluidity from the off, 'No Disco' is percussive and freewheeling but with a rebounding low-end and a clear dancefloor focus. 'Release' taps into driving techno territory and is infused with shimmering machine soul warmth, 'Sunset Falling Down' is a clubby broken beat with real poppy intensity and 'Is It Real?' Is a buoyant, arms-in-the-air house closer. The 12" is elevated by a standout remix from Swiss maestro Deetron, who brings some trademark depth.

Review: Japan's Keita Sano and Monkey Timers join forces as Gaeg for a three-track blitz that pushes disco into uncharted terrain. 'Vivre' opens the A-side with a cosmic stomp-chunky bass, warped vocals and a pulsating groove that sounds like it's being beamed in from another dimension. Flip it and 'Demi-Glaze' offers a sharper, more percussive take on the formula, laced with off-kilter edits and robotic tension. 'Fvk' rounds out the trip with a sludgier low-end assault, pairing slowed-down filter funk with distorted FX that feel both sleazy and surreal. Built with classic dancefloor ingredients but cooked up into something far more deranged, this is mutant disco with a mission-dance music that scrambles heads.

Review: Get A Life! The second limited edition record from the label brings us slippery, dreamy forward-stases in sound, not credited to any one artist except for remix-edits by Hessa and Alvaro Medina. Between utility and uselessness lie 'Honey Ball' and 'Da F... Out', both of which foremostly serve the floor through their essential functions of central, best-foot-forward beats and mono-ised basses; yet the tracks' also provide a sublime value with their xtra FX: piscid hat slips and indignant voxxes. 'Loco' beams with a similarly "perc-alicious" vocal sample.

Review: Following 'Happy Lovers' just over six months ago, Leo Gibbon returns with another inspiring collection. While the last EP flung its arms wide open to embrace the worlds of house, garage and soulful categories in between, this time we find him zoning in on the 140 grime vibe as he links with Trim for two exceptional messages. 'Orbit Step' is a woozy spacious stepper that gives plenty of space for Trim to flow out some ridiculously smart 16s. 'Danny & Darren' carries much more of a harder edge as Trim gets guttural and unleashes his inner yardman wisdom. Complete with instrumentals and acapellas, Leo and Trim have delivered something really special and super versatile right here.

The Detroit man is one of the many contemporary flag bearers for the much loved original 313 house sound and as his DJ sets attest, heinous how to pick out the best work from others on a similar tip. He does that here with a various artists four tracker that kicks off with a brace of soul fuelled and jazz laced deep house cuts from Felipe Gordon. Stefan Ringer then brings that lo-fi house goodness and exquisite synth craft with 'You Know' while Deepset's 'U Got Dat' is a late night number with a low slung sense of sleaze.

In typical Thank You/Sound Metaphors style, this fine reissue boasts all three versions from the original 12": the glossy, synth-pop 'extended mix', a vocal-free instrumental, and the 'special mix'/DJ friendly dub mix style 'extended instrumental' - a version that sounds like a tweaked and extended backing track to a Shep Pettibone produced Pet Shop Boys album track from 1986. The funked up filter house production takes its cues from the French trailblazers, but it's Shena's soaring vocal which makes it a perennial favourite, transmitting a message everyone can relate to about the week-long hustle and the joy of letting it all go when Friday night rolls around. This reissue brings together different mixes of the track which subtly shift the parts around without messing with the heart and soul of the track, while the Glitterbox mix shifts it down a gear to a slower disco strut which will sprinkle some crowd-pleasing magic over any warm up set.
