Review: UK legend Dego and killer keys-man Kaidi Tatham have been in a rich vein of form of late, dropping brilliant EPs on Eglo, Sound Signature and Rush Hour (the latter under their 2000Black alias). Here, they return to Eglo with four more slices of warm, rich, soul-flecked fluidity. As with previous outings, much of the material has a laidback jazz-funk feel, particularly "Orbiting Uhara" and the delicious "The Vault Descends" (think bustling bruk rhythms and darting boogie synths). They also offer up some tougher, synth-laden bruk-funk in the shape of "Man Made", while "Black Is Key" sees them unfurl a head-nodding vocal roller.

Review: Since the success of his breathlessly good debut album 99.9% in 2016, Kaytranada has become one of the most in-demand producers on the future R&B and leftfield hip-hop scenes. Here he takes a break from remixing Robert Glasper and producing Craig David records to drop three high-grade instrumental versions of tracks included on last year's U.S-only "Nothin Like U" EP. "Chances", a gorgeous mix of spacey chords, crunchy MPC beats, intergalactic synths and lilting melodies, sets the tone, before he reaches for the pianos on the low-down fusion of twinkling pianos, rolling beats and raw bass that is "It Was Meant 2 B". Review: Takuya Kuroda is a highly respected trumpeter and arranger from Kobe, Japan but now based in New York City. Midnight Crisp was his seventh studio album and now First World has had a selection of cuts from it remixed. 'Choy Soda' gets superb treatment in the form of Waajeed's Hi-Tech Jazz remix which jumbles the trumpet motifs with shuffling drums and future soul. On the flip, 'Dead End Dance' gets a signature Kaidi Tatham remix that brings the broken beats and sunny sounds to the fore with more languid jazz notes adding sultriness.

Review: Is there a more genuinely eclectic producer than Kalbata operating right now? We certainly can't think of one. Over the last decade and a half he's turned his hand to everything from dub, techno, dubstep and electro to Balearic beats, downtempo grooves and inspired musical fusions that simply cannot be categorized. His latest excursion - made in cahoots with five-piece Israeli band Tigris -falls into the latter category, offering up a brilliant blend of African and Caribbean rhythms, Turkish psych-funk organ solos, off-kilter electronics, wavy ambient chords and glistening guitars. It's hard to accurately describe but brilliantly produced and hugely entertaining. Don't sleep on this one!

Review: Long-serving West African artist Angelique Kidjo has pushed the boat out on "Remain In Light", a radical re-imagining of Talking Heads' 1980 album of the same name produced in conjunction with Jeff Bhasker (a "superstar producer" best known for his work with Kanye West and Taylor Swift). In some ways, it has the same inventiveness as Talking Heads' original, it's just that Kidjo and Bhasker have added waves of glistening, West African guitars, intergalactic electronic flourishes, spacey synths and, of course, the effortless soulfulness of the artist's own superb vocals. Highlights include an arresting version of "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)", a wild Afrobeat rendition of "Crosseyed & Painless" fused with Fela Kuti's "Lady" and a total overhaul of "Once In A Lifetime" that's worth the entrance price on its own.

Review: There's a gorgeous airiness to these KLIM Beats tracks that transports you to a lazy Saturday afternoon in the park, laying supine as a warm summer breeze drifts over you and the birds and the bees busily go about their work. The hits are crisp, the drum work laidback, the keys jazzy, and the whole thing is utterly timeless and escapist, with just the odd vocal sample appearing in the distance to drag you from your reverie and adding another layer of heartfelt loveliness. Soft rhythms and peaceful pads like this will always have a place in our affections.

Review: It's taken a while, but finally Knxwledge has delivered the follow-up to his "official" debut album, 2015's "Hud Dreems". A concept album of sorts - the tall tale behind it being that the beats were created in 1988 by an infant version of our musical hero after he climbed inside an SP-12 sampler and mastered the machine - the set sees Knxwledge sprint through a beat-tape style assortment of short, sweet and often sublime instrumentals that make use of a variety of period samples. Given his track record, it's an impressive album, regardless whether the beats were genuinely made when he was in "Nike diapers" (as the press release amusingly claims) or not.

Review: To get away from the 'one track after the other' compilation concept K&D checked in at Havlis Super Sound where their man Alex (don of the echo chambers) has a secret dub-laboratory. There K&D did a dub session on the selected tracks to inject some dynamics and life into it. They took two bottles of Highland Park whisky and their old dub-echoes from the cellar and did a smoked-out dub echo-orgy.

Review: Producer, rapper and musician Kurious shares his new album Majician, cementing the legacy he's built in music since at least 1994. Harking back to the style and feel laid down on his debut A Constipated Monkey, Kurious continues to weave a lifelong tapestry of lyrical history and insight, whilst always remaining true to his most signature flow, ducking through and under each pocket in the beat. The tracks are as menacing as they are magnanimous: 'Separation Anxiety' is a personal excoriation by way of lyrical free association, while 'Par For the Course' renders drum breaks from the early Reagan era totally revitalised. The level of work Kurious poured into into Majician thus bolsters his reputation as one of the premier MCs of his time.
