Review: As well as the special coloured vinyl version we also have the black wax version of the new one from Kenny Beats, who is a name now as widely recognisable in hip-hop as Pierre Bourne, Metro Boomin, Timbaland or M1onthebeat. He finally debuts his first-ever LP for XL Recordings here with great results. Don't get it twisted, though: Beats is capable of much more than simple hearty beatmaking. On LOUIE, the artist achieves the difficult task of weaving personal sentiment through solely instrumental beats, using blue-noted music - and samples that could only be sourced from within the family - to reflect on his father's illness.
