Demi Riquisimo - "Maggy Doesn't Need To Know" (7:27)
Inner Zone - "The Vision" (5:23)
Donald's House - "Jam 3" (6:40)
Review: Big hello to new label A Lifetime On The Hips which has a great name and great stamp on this limited edition first 12". It kick off with a various artists affair packed with full flavour cosmic tech. Abdul Raeva opens up with the twinkling melodies and sleek tech drum work of 'Invasive Overdrive Track' then Aldonna's 'Inner Elation' gets more deep with a steamy whispered vocal and shimmering drums. There is more classic sound US house from Demi Riquisimo, lashing of snappy techno from The Vision and bouncy astral house from Donald's House's 'Jam 3'. A great first EP.

Aron - "Shift"
Distilled Noise - "Trenta"
Idana - "Sunday"
Vern - "Orizont"
Review: Italian label Micro Orbit takes its bow here in the form of a various artists' EP across a nice heavyweight 12". Aron opens up with 'Shift' which is a bubbly minimal house cut with aqueous synths and popping drums. Distilled Noise's 'Trenta' then layers up more silky synth sounds with underlapping bass waves lifting you off your feet. Idana ups the ante with more uptempo and quickened drums and bass loops that are detailed with gorgeously wispy melodies on 'Sunday' before Vern closes down with 'Orizont' which is the most sleek and tech-y cut of the lot. As far as first releases go, this is one that bodes well for the future.

Ten Years Of Seven Villas (Part 1)
Cat: 7V10YEARS 1. Rel: 16 May 24
Pablo Bolivar - "Tali" (6:31)
Yarosslav - "Boundaries" (Iron Curtis No Boundaries mix) (6:54)
Krissky - "Candelaria" (6:08)
In2Deep - "Vine Of The Soul" (Powel remix) (7:51)
Anton Lanski - "Never Knew Her" (6:00)
Agather Pher - "Light Shadow" (6:08)
Review: Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas label has released a slew of top-quality deep house and dub techno music since its inception ten years ago in 2014. The label continues to be one of the top labels in Europe currently for deep listening dance music. This compilation celebrates the history of the label and is part one of the three EP's that will honor the Spanish imprint. This brilliant collection features the beautiful 'Tali' by Pablo Bolivar as well as Germany's Iron Curtis dancefloor burning remix of 'Boundaries' by Yarosslav. To close out the first side of the 12", you have the dark and mysterious dub techno gem 'Candelaria' by Krissky. The B-Side is equally as great with Powel's gentle tech remix of melancholy star 'Vine of the soul' by n2Deep. Then you have Anton Lanski who is also featured giving us the emotional 'Never knew her'. Closing the EP out is tech brilliant 'Light shadow' by Agatha Pher. This is a great example of a label showcasing the perfect songs that exemplify their labels sound.

Acid Sampler
Cat: RB ACIDEP1. Rel: 14 Mar 23
DVS1 - "Lower Wacker Drive" (6:25)
I:Cube - "Folie Noire" (5:48)
Marko East & Jordi Chu - "Go Kart" (4:25)
Like A Tim - "Wonderline 1" (Prins Thomas Diskomiks) (5:45)
Katerina - "Meet Chu In My Dreams" (5:44)
Review: With acid sounds once again being all the rage, Running Back has decided to launch a new series featuring previously unreleased, TB-303-heavy cuts. The versatility of the machine - which, after all, was initially designed to create basslines - comes to the fore across the EP, from the throbbing, acid bass-propelled techno-jack of DVS1's 'Lower Wacker Drive' and the low-tempo early morning creepiness of I:Cube's 'Folie Noire', to the excitable acid house funkiness of 'Go Kart' by Marko East and Jordi Chu's, and the colourful dreaminess of 'Meet Chu In My Dreams'. Best of all though is Prins Thomas's remix of Like a Tim's 'Wonderline 1', whose TB-303 squelches ride a cowbell-rich disco-not-disco groove rich in the Norwegian's usual loose-limbed, live-sounding drums.

Flashmob - "My Body" (5:25)
Nathan Barato & Matheo Velez - "Weapon" (5:34)
Jenn Getz & Alfie - "Vibration" (6:11)
Review: Functional house experts Toolroom are back with Toolroom Sampler Vol 11 which is again packed with maximal club cuts for big dancefloors. Martin Ikin's 'Make U Sweat' is indeed sweet tech that never stops pumping under libidinous vocals. Flashmob's 'My Body' is loopy and manic tech with peak time intent and Nathan Barato and Matheo Velez offer up the macho grooves of 'Weapon.' Last of all, Jenn Getz & Alfie offer another slight tweak on try Toorloom sound with the grey and gritty white knuckle beats of 'Vibration.' A great EP for working DJs looking for instant impact.

Pesadillas (6:34)
Listo Para El Space (6:39)
Dai Fra (7:07)
You High (6:23)
Review: ILDEC is a perfect match for the cosmic odysseys served up by the superb Sex Tapes From Mars label and here unveils a four-track journey where each piece acts as a stellar beacon in the realm of groove. Ildec's blend of thudding drums, warbling basslines, and tingling synth leads transcends conventional techno's usual boundaries and adds plenty to root 90s influences while blurring terrestrial and extraterrestrial boundaries. There is a great depth to 'Pesadillas,' hypnotic propulsion to 'Listo Para El Space' and weightless disco-inspired allure to 'Dai Fra' which all make for fresh listening and dancefloor fun. 'You High' serves as both an anthem and proclamation, celebrating electronic music's boundless potential for transcendence.

Review: Ildec has become an increasingly vital artist in the last couple of years. His quality and tasteful output nudges at the boundaries of house and tech with unique sense of character. That's true again here on a new EP for Exarde that starts with a darker sound and snappy tech drums. Otis & Paul Lution remix with a hint of electro pop and futurism and 'Solo Para Adultos' then brings some shimmering synths to kinetic kicks and claps. 'Koala' is a textured stomper with an industrial cosmic edge.

Dawn (7:35)
Review: Maimi troupe Imbue continue their free-spirited sonic spree, this time on Re:Face. As always, it's a very fluid affair; washing our souls with their delicate fusion of live instrumentation, analogue wizardry and hypnotic groovemanship. Over four tracks we explore their full palette. Electro feels inform the opening track 'Boy With Apple' while the title track 'Overlook' bumps with more of an essence of funky house. Meanwhile on the B it's all-out funk affair. 'Model 29' is a party waiting to happen while 'Dawn' shrouds us in a big old cosmic cloak. Bottoms up.

Dancing Queen (4:58)
Jack You Out The Box (5:29)
She's A Whaaat? (6:02)
Bass Face (5:10)
Review: A nostalgic journey back to the early 90s hip-house scene in Italy and the UK, reminiscent of the vibrant days of early raves. Side-1 kicks off with 'Dancing Queen,' a hip house track that channels the energy of Disco Magic UK tracks from the early 90s, featuring vocals from Queen Latifah. 'Jack You Out The Box' follows suit, delivering a classic hip-house vibe that's sure to get bodies moving on the dancefloor. Flipping over to Side-2, 'She's A Whaaat?' presents a jacking house beat and groove, accompanied by catchy lyrics from Missy Elliott layered on top. Closing the EP is 'Bass Face,' a slamming dance track characterised by deep bass and infectious energy. Overall, Upgrade EP is a must-listen for fans of early 90s hip-house, offering a collection of tracks that capture the essence and excitement of that era while infusing it with fresh energy and style.

The Future Sound Of London - "Pulse State" (831 AM mix) (7:20)
Review: Jumpin' & Pumpin' looks back into the seminal archives of The Future Sound of London here to reissue their fantastic The Pulse EP from 2008 which also featured tunes from Manchester pair Indo Tribe. It is they who start with 'Bring In The Pulse' which features some Happy Mondays hallelujahs, mad rave whistles and bristling electronic breaks. 'In The Mind Of A Child' (First Born mix) is then a bouncy techno cut with more visceral synth and acid lines and The Future Sound Of London kick off the flipside with 'Hardhead' (Frothin' At The Mouth mix) which is an assault of breaks, congas, whistles and rave signifiers. 'Pulse State' (831 AM mix) is that perfect tune to zone out to on a late night drive on the motorway.

Innocent Beginnings (6:27)
Dusk & Darkness (6:03)
Stand For Love (7:22)
Ubiquity (5:44)
Review: Infinity Plus One channels the murky heat of 90s Detroit into four cuts that throb with machine soul and analogue bite. Based in the UK, the producer debuts with a raw but focused blend of electro, house and technoihis nod to the Motor City filtered through a distinctively UK lens. 'Innocent Beginnings' pairs chunky kicks with haunted synth washes, laying the groundwork with a bass-heavy strut that feels both grounded and widescreen. 'Dusk And Darkness' leans darker, stitching 808s and breaks into a rolling, rave-adjacent groove, all tension and propulsion. On the flip, 'Stand For Love' dips into classic deep house mode, slowing the pace for a moment of emotional clarityigentle pads circling a tender vocal loop. Closer 'Ubiquity' rides a twisting bassline into atmospheric club gear, its big stabs and lurking low-end pulling dancers into a heady zone. A full-spectrum debut that honours the roots but refuses to settle in them, this is warehouse music made with reverenceiand a sense of forward motion.

Utopia (7:13)
Review: Infinity Plus One has been working out of the London underground since the late '90. The veteran producer has always kept a low profile and let his music do the talking. Now he lands on Cyphon Recordings with a rare four-track EP of Detroit-infused, future-facing house and techno that is marbled with the characterful and compelling lyricism of JaronX. Context is Broken' leads with JaronX's poignant critique of global media, followed by heavy-duty house beats and striking vocals. 'Say The Truth' offers a glitchy, syncopated roller, 'Identity Keeps Changing' is a morphing techno track with '90s rave influences, while 'Utopia' rounds off the EP with transfixing techno that is wrapped up in deft synths, drones and wispy pads from the future.

RK 18 features the deep and heady A-side cut 'Party People' which utilises classic disco samples to rather hypnotic effect, followed on by the dubby and atmospheric mood music of 'Call Me' which makes perfect tackle for the afterhours slot. Over on the flip, lose yourself in the emotive and absolutely sensual vocal cut 'Love Has No Age'.

The Blueprint
Dream Reality Sector
Good Time
The Message
Review: "Listen, man..." goes the schematic guiding voice on 'The Blueprint', the opening track on this eponymous EP from label debut artist Inner West. Leading us by the ear through its tricksy minimal truncations, the new Portal Records signee follows up recent gyratory funks form Tommy Vicari Jnr. and Jah Mex, operating in similarly techy, minimal blue veins as theirs. Ensuer 'Dream Reality Sector' titularly alludes to the corporate manufacturing of dreams, evoking this through stark minor seventh chords and deeper persuasions, whilst the following 'Good Time' ensures ours is indeed real good, through undertowed basses and emphatically hip vocal "yeah"s. 'The Message' concludes the EP on a rule-breaking hip-hop piece, with programmable funk basses and furthermore knowing utterings, from an implied street vernacular source.

Review: Cowbeats continue to 'milk the cow' that is acid trance, effectively skying the milk that pours forth before regurgitating it in pasteurised, mastered form. Innershade, Rizzi, Falsini, Manipulate and Lapucci all contribute to this rather weird and boundary-pushing trance selection; 'Proximity Field Music' sounds like trance from the next planet over, while 'Love Me Too' proves that even microgenres as snappy as speed garage can be tranceified.

Review: Burnski's Instinct project continues to gather steam with the release of a second album following last year's Still Life, which established the Leeds tech house veteran as a serious player in the new wave of UK garage. The ideas come thick and fast on Point Of View, flowing from the aqueous 2-step funk of 'Pistolwhip' to the 4x4 uplift of 'Sunstream', but the strongest moments come when the sound design collides with formidable bassweight on the likes of 'Select'. This is primarily a collection of club tackle, but it's packed with enough shade and depth to reach beyond the dance for all those other moments when you need a little shuffle in your life.

Hiver pressents Night Heron - "Thunder" (6:13)
ZIPPO & Claudio PRC - "Nettuno Blu" (6:17)
Review: Previous volumes in Polifonic's multi-artist Itria series have loosely explored the more 'Mediterranean' end of the dance music spectrum, giddily scampering between tracks variously inspired by dream house, Balearica and glassy-eyed nu-disco. There's a more psychedelic tone to this third instalment, with the collected cuts doffing a cap towards cosmic sounds and slow techno. Amsterdam producer Interstellar Funk sets the tone via the chugging beats, throbbing sequenced bass and sun-bright synth melodies of 'Jupiter's Arpeggio', before Tamburi Neri opts for hallucinatory textures, twanging Jew's harp sounds and slow-motion tribal percussion ('Oceano Irrazionali'). Elsewhere, Salamada's 'Morning Magic' is an aural sunrise ritual rich in tribal percussion and drowsy sonic textures, 'Thunder' by Hiver's Night Heron project is a bubbly cosmic throb-job, and Zippo & Claudio PRC's 'Nettuno Blu' is an immersive, ultra-deep dancefloor delight.

Review: It seems like Iron Curtis has been around forever now - always in the underground, never getting the acclaim he deserves but never falling out of favour either. This latest outing takes him to Chiwax for four more finely tuned and club-ready offerings of seductive and deep tech. 'Schweben' is a nice elastic rhythm with slowly undulating chords that melt the mind, while 'Push Push' (live At Passagen) is a more steamy and intense bit of cosmic deep house with drive and intent. 'Factory' (Sheffield Danse mix) is a warehouse-ready tune with bright strobe-lit chords and 'Weather Report' closes with more deny acid and melancholic chords that get you in a daze.

On Jet Lag - "Many Dreams" (6:18)
On Jet Lag - "Dia 28" (5:27)
Iron F4c3 - "Outro" (2:21)
Review: Future Tones fourth release introduces us to a gaggle of 'Tourists From The Future': electro explorers with frayed spacesuits whose musical adventures tend towards the timeless. Check first the two contributions from Just Someone - the twisted electronic bass, crispy 4/4 beats and Kraftwerkian melodies of 'Test One' and the foreboding, TB-303-sporting electro-goes-techno shuffle of 'The Tyrant' - before moving on to the two tracks from 'On A Jet Lag'. The first, 'Many Dreams', is an atmospheric, acid-flecked, sub-heavy bleep & bass shuffler similar in ethos to Richard H Kirk and Rob Gordon's work as XON, while 'Dia28' is a deeper and more intergalactic take on the turn-of-the-90s bleep sound. Throw in quirky 'Intro' and 'Outro' tracks from Iron F43C, and you have a fine EP of tasty retro-futurism.

Review: Isolee will always be a favourite of many simply because of his classic 'Beau Mot Plage' tune on Playhouse some 20_ years ago. The same quirkiness and interesting sound design that resonated in that tune feature in these four cuts on the young but impressive Resort Island label. 'Chopstick!' is deep, dubby, swaying tech house with bubbling synth work and 'Love Algorithm' is another deep, paired back sound with musical bass and swirling pad work. 'OMG So Random' pairs melancholic chords with signature barely-there beats and wispy, nostalgic melodies and finally a 3rd Paces Dub of 'Love Algorithm' is a grainy, quietly intense roller to close.

Review: East End Dubz offshoot Eastenderz continues to go from strength to strength after killer releases from Romanians Lizz and Nami. Keeping on with their focus on the finest of emerging talent, they now tap Japanese artist in London Ittetsu for their tenth edition. Starting out on the first side in great fashion is "Lax", a raw and shuffling groove with the right amount of dust and bumpiness in its functionality. Next up the fittingly titled "Dub III" was probably our favourite, this rolling and emotive journey through deepness is reminiscent of Ion Ludwig. Finally on the flip is "11th", a reduced minimal funk jam with some wacky sound FX accompanied by a low slung groove that's perfect for the after-hours.

Liquid Earth - "Poly Enamel" (5:51)
Man/Ipulate - "Cosmic Tea" (5:41)
Robin Graham - "2 Da Rhythm" (6:57)
Basement Space - "Tuskien Raider" (6:03)
Review: Nuances De Nuit offers up some nuance de groove here with four supremely tasteful house cuts from some of the freshest names in the game. Liquid Earth opens up with some on-point beats on 'Poly Enamel' that come topped with retro stabs and sleek pads. Man/Ipulate' 'Cosmic Tea' taps into old school Italo and dream house vibes with the feathery drums and snares and nice soft focus chords. Robin Graham's '2 Da Rhythm' brings a little more of a prickly edge and some textured, spaced out pads over kinetic tech beats. Basement Space's 'Tuskien Raider' shuts down with a little playful melodic charm.

Science Function (5:10)
Insidynamic (7:03)
22 Tensions (4:07)
Review: French DJ/producer Vincent Welwert debuts here under the new alias Man/ipulate, with six killer cuts on Shinsei released via new Sentaku sub label Shinuchu. On the title track he pursues a love of classic '90s house and even more so on the flip with the infectious Stateside shuffle of '22 Tensions'. Ravey Northern bleep sounds find favour on the euphoric 'Sex Is Fun' and the party goes on well into the morning hours with the acid laced mayhem of 'Science Function'. This one will definitely appeal to fans of music on labels such as Houseum, Shall Not Fade or Lost Palms.

WWA (10:45)

Review: Opia Records are one of our main go-tos for all things ravey and euphoric, and this week, they've proven themselves worthy once again, catching us off-guard with a 5-track trance EP from Man/ipulate. Recalling the acid-melodic 'dry trance' sound of older fixture labels like Skinnymalinky or F Communications, every track is a slow dream-waltz rather than a hard dance. Ecstatic whispers dance about each trundling mix ('WWA', 'Its Not A Mindtrip'), while more retroized '90s-sounding house cuts like 'The Beat Club' also feature.

1st Date (5:53)
Watatsumi (5:18)
Make It Sweat (6:01)
Review: Having initially emerged under his surname, Vincent Welwert has since pivoted to the Man/ipulate alias to serve up some classy deep house variations for those who appreciate the allure and mystery of the early Chicago approach. 'Dimension' leads the charge with smouldering synth strings, a tough rhythm section and a generous lashing of acid, while '1st Date' leans in on garage organs and throbbing Lately bass to instill some sexiness on the floor. 'Watatsumi' gets a little MIDI sax thrown into the mix while keeping things stripped back for the late night crowd, and 'Make It Sweat' jacks things up with a freaky disposition that night well sit at the deeper end of the Dance Mania spectrum.

Isaac Prieto - "Late Night" (6:20)
MGUN - "Shadows" (6:51)
Review: After just over two years out of the game, the overlooked Detroit Vinyl Room label - a stable previously responsible for unleashing some superb deep house - has finally sprung back into action. The Collision EP is a multi-artist affair with many must-check highlights, with our picks including the drowsy, tech-tinged late night deep house hypnotism of 'Stick An Move (Cobo Mix)' by Gary Romalis, the distant, jackin'-in-space acid squelch of Jnn Apprl's 'Insecure Alien', the ultra-deep and trippy, early morning haziness of Isaac Prieto's brilliantly odd and angular 'Late Night', and the horizontal, sofa-bound instrumental hip-hop of MGUN's blazed 'Shadows'. Recommended.
