In A Flash
Acid Daze
Review: Alan Barratt climbs on board with Evasive and brings with him new production partner, Yann Solo. (Not to be confused with the intergalactic space smuggler with a similar name.) Highly acclaimed DJ and producer Alan Barratt is no stranger to creating top notch productions and some of the quality labels he has already released with include End Recordings, Red Ant, Plastic City, Eukatech and Royal Drums. Alan is well known for his work with Tony Thomas as "The Producers", however his studio sparring partner on this 3-track foray for Evasive is the Parisian born and bred Yann Solo who has been DJing at some of the top clubs and underground parties in Paris whilst also honing his production skills for the past few years. Yann is definitely a name to watch out for, with material also lined up for future release on both Mastiksoul's 4Kenzo label, and DJ Linus's Exun imprint. Alan & Yann team up to deliver three firing cuts "Number Two", "In A Flash" and "Acid Daze". All 3 tracks are slick productions already receiving heavy rotation with club and airplay from all the top boys and girls.

Review: Fellow Danes Djuma Soundsystem and Yann Coppier team up with King Ayisoba on vocals for "Anyimu". King Ayisoba sings in Frafra, Twi and in English and is a big star in Ghana. This track is the kind of trippy and atmospheric slow burner that you could imagine label boss Damien Lazarus playing during the final hours of one of his legendary Burning Man sets. Who better to get in for a remix than Ibadan main man Jerome Sydenham for the high octane "Ibadan vocal dub" or the slightly more restrained "Ibadan Deepstrumental". The mysterious Johnny Aux lends a hand on the remix too giving the track a dusty and tunnelling deep techno remix, sounding like early Fred P, not bad!

Review: The regular cast of characters to be found lurking round Pressed For Time knock heads over some no-nonsense groovesome house music for those who like a kink in their party selections. Goshawk lead the charge with the tough yet soulful "Mozambique (Dub Chord)", using some choice keys and vocal samples to create a warm mood over the top of the chunky drums. Rhythm Plate turn the funk up and smooth out proceedings with undulating pads and string stabs before Shaka strides in on the flip with an impeccable slice of boogie-infused good time house music. YSE rounds the EP off with a peppy workout sprinkled with playful leads and a tightly wound beat.

Review: Dark and minimal house for serious afterhour's shenanigans on offer here, the first release from the INIT camp. Takashi Himeoka's "Jung" is a haunting and reductionist roller that fans of Barac or Vincentiulian will appreciate. "Komorebi" by Shintaro D is a bit gentler with its dreamy pads and ethereal atmosphere supported by a deep bass and rusty thythms. On the flip is Yoshitaca with "Till That Time", a dusty, cracking, bare bones DJ tool that recalls some of Stephan Laubner aka STL's finer moments and finally Kensuke Yasuhara's immaculate composition "Mabataki" whose swirling and hypnotic pads are reminiscent of Thomas Melchior and supported by a restrained and rolling, bass heavy groove.

Robin Ordell - "Selfish Bay" (6:10)
Seuil - "Teoparti" (6:54)
Yakine - "Bubazul" (7:46)
Review: Calling upon a strong contingent of contemporary house innovators, London's Half Baked crew make the leap to a vinyl-only release in utterly fine style. Le Loup steps up first with a cleanly delineated groover that calls upon a lilting string hook and crisp drums to tap into a forgotten well of micro house imagination. It's a vibe carried through each of the tracks on the record in different twists, with Ordell coming up trumps with a woozy, squinting meander into detuned hum and slackjawed rhythm. Seuil is in an equally downtempo mood on "Teoparti", throwing in plenty of brushed cymbals and tricksy percussion without ever sounding overly busy, while Yakine takes a slightly snappier stance with cheeky Rhodes stabs and a prim shuffle to get early doors heads bobbing.

Livio & Roby - "Debug"
Cally - "51"
Yudai Tamura - "Subterranean"
Yoshitaca - "Philadeligation"
Review: As the name suggests, this new 12" from The Rabbit Hole label deftly showcases the cream of the minimal crop in both Romania and Japan, with two production units from both countries housed either side. Livio & Roby have the sort of reputation to call shotgun here, and "Debug" is one of the well known Bucharest duo's trippiest productions and complemented well by the more outright DJ tool that is "51" from Dumitru Dragos Gabriel aka Cally. Holding it down in the Japanese corner is talented newcomer Yudai Tamura, whose relative lack of output doesn't really show on the brisk, skipping Perlonisms of "Subterranean", whilst Yoshitaca adds a sense of B Side vintage with the deeply textured "Philadeligation".

Okain - "Corner Boys"
Alex Dee - "Sundae"
Yakine - "U Dance"
Varoslav - "Dancing Like Ghost"
Review: Jetaime, staying true to our name, drop yet another large helping of sensual beats, with Volume 2 of our 'Love Session' series.

Today's lesson's in love, are provided by some of our closest friends and label regulars. Each delivering a scorchingly hot original, set to send you into sensory overload.

First up is Okain who, having brought us the incredible 'Acrobat' back in January, steps up again to reveal, what for us, is one of his finest works to date. 'Corner Boys' couldn't be more fitting for 'Love Session'. Its classic beats, sexy vocal sample and hip-grinding, oldschool bassline make it, ok not 'love', but most definitely, SEX!!

Alex steps up himself on track two, and brings us the deliciously sweet and creamy, 'Sundae'. Inventive and ever so tongue in cheek, Alex matches iconic hip-hop, with his modern Parisian beats, to create a perfect party anthem.

From the house-party, to the rave on track number three from, Varoslav. As its name suggests, 'Dancin' Like Ghosts' has a spooky and hypnotic feel. The constant pulse of delicate synths, pierced by hollow beats and piercing hats, together with its demonic vocal, make it a perfect number for those dark cellar gigs.

Finally, and rounding out the EP is Yakine, who delivers a fresh slab of Chicago-inspired house with 'U Dance'. Its killer B-Line, filtered Rhodes and spoken vocal, warms the heart as well as the feet, and make it the perfect track to round out the EP.

Overall a quite stunning collection of tracks, that we are extremely proud of. So come and join us, and get down to some serious lovin'!!

Review: The GLBDOM label is on a roll and we don't want it to stop. As was the last with the seance EP, this one is a various artists' affair pressed on nice heavy vinyl to match the heavy sounds. Ollie Rant opens with the quirky melodic leads and sleazy deep house loops of 'Aaaww Yeh' before Manuold brings some Chicago bump and grind on 'Roots.' Leon Sweet - "Sunny Bigler"
DJ Rocca - "Games"
Yam Who - "Don't You Want My Love (Massey's Paper Fold)" (feat Natasha Watts)
De Fantastiske To - "Gimme Sum Dim Sum"
Review: Given the praise anointed on last year's Trash The Wax compilation from Paper Recordings, it's little surprise to the see the long running Manchester concern gear up for a second edition due later this year. The regulation vinyl sampler sets the tone for what to expect, with contributions from modern disco luminaries Yam Who, DJ Rocca, Leon Sweet, and De Fantastiske To. South coast man Leon Sweet kicks things off with the thick set "Sunny Bigler" weaving a Moroder style bassline around snappy percussion, a rhythmic mainframe that's the perfect backdrop to the massive vocal sample. DJ Rocca's contribution "Games" will not feature on the full compilation, and those that like their disco filled with funk will certainly want this cut in their collection. Face down and Paper main man Chris Massey turns in a superlative disco dub of Yam Who's hookup with vocalist Natasha Watts, whilst Scandinavian newcomers and De Fantastiske To add a touch of house to proceedings with the infectious "Gimme Sum Dim Sum".

Rock Me
Review: So Crosstown Rebels, how are you going to follow up one of this year's most anticipated and deservedly lauded releases in Art Department's "Without You"? What's that you say? By releasing something equally as good from yet more rising talent? That's correct - Crosstown Rebels could probably sign off 2010 off the back of the devilish release from Toronto's Kenny Glasgow and Johnny White but that's not Damien Lazarus' style. Instead we are introduced to the talents of Russ Yallop, who might be familiar to some as Rusty James (Mothership/Left Room). A Sider "I Can't Wait" is notable for the sneaky usage of Mary Jane Girls and a bassline throb every bit as menacing as "Without You". A series of intermittent breakdowns scattered through the track and the midpoint introduction of kaleidoscopic twilight synth twists add to the sensory delight. This is backed with the stab heavy disco house burn of "Rock Me", a track characterised by stuttering vocal hums and intricate drum programming.

Crossroads (Fur Coat remix)
Review: Crosstown Rebels offshoot RebelLion continues to impress with their third release handing Russ Yallop the controls for a particularly heaving slice of disco infused house music. If you listened to "Crossroads" blind you'd bet your last dime on someone from the Hot Creations/Crosstown house clique being behind it. There's a heavily filtered swagger to the track which is in keeping with the current vogue for sultry deepness, but what really impresses is how the Brighton based producer sweeps through several rhythmic movements over the course of the track. Those seeking a inch or two more toughness should peep the B Side remix from Fur Coat aka Delete's Sergio MuNoz and the excellently named Israel Sunshine which perfectly places the track for the summer months on the terraces.

Review: On his new record for Crosstown Rebels, rising tech house trooper Russ Yallop creates the kind of sinister n' sexy electro-house-pop that has been setting alight the likes of Hot Natured and Visionquest, helped no end by an edgy vocal turn from Aimee Sophia. Huxley gets busy for a remix, bringing forth some brighter elements from the keys to the New Jersey swing, while the electro bassline gets swapped for some rude garage antics. There's a decidedly different dub version from Huxley as well that takes a moodier tone, and then original jam "How I Feel" rounds proceedings off with a bleep-inflected broody mover.

Solid Gold
Allegro After Dark
Review: The African vibes come raining down heavy from Japanese producer Atsushi Yano on this offering for Let's Play House's white label series. "Stomping On The Verge" is a thrilling ride through wild samples and a wall-of-sound production approach that piles on organ, guitar licks and an army of rolling percussion, while "Solid Gold" lets the source material breathe a little more as the filter drifts in and out with that Theo Parrish style of movement, keeping the instruments uncluttered in the mix and just playing with the EQs so you don't have to. "Allegro After Dark" gets into a more refined kind of house roll, letting the Afrobeat samples merge into a more modern kind of sound peppered with beautifully jazzy chords. Jacques Renault meanwhile drops a remix of "Stomping The Verge" that simmers the original down into a tracky club groove to great effect.

Sharp bursts of strings layered over rapid snares compliment a delicate violin melody to introduce the main mix. Jarvis's lyrics bounce over the top as the steady house backdrop swerves through shakers, dramatic crescendos and jazzy brass. An orchestral mish mash, "Let Go" explores eyes closed ambience with an abundance of classic instrumental contributions - while pushing things on with a four to the floor rhythm. Shake (Jesse Garcia Electric Spain remix)
Review: An excellent electro remix of this song that has been a huge hit in the USA. The Spanish vocals and the classic samples of George Kranz's "Din Da Daa" make this a great tool to get the dancefloor heaving.

Let It Go
PJ Sessions
Review: Salted is happy to welcome Yogi and Husky AKA Random Soul to the team! This one is comin' at ya straight from the land down under.
Sweet soul funk with an edge and a wide variety of flavours to choose from for all the house 'eds out there. We kick things off with
Salted's own Miguel Migs Petalpusher Rework of 'It Feels Alright'. Utilizing Yogi and Husky's original elements and giving it a new twist
with Migs' trademark sound and style combining the best of live instrumentation with current electronic stylings. This one is custom
designed for the dance floor with enough energy to rock the spot while maintaining a sweet R&B flavour with Yogi's vocals riding on top.
Next up is Yogi and Husky's 'Salty House Mix', bringing a straight-up, soulful, uplifting energy, created with the slick sound of Salted in
mind. Yogi's smooth harmonies and catchy vocal hook will have you singin' along. 'Let It Go' has more of a chopped-up, bumpin', electronic
kind of vibe with cut-up vocal madness and a chunky-ass bassline ready for dance floor damage. Last but not least 'PJ Sessions' simply
takes it back to a deep, soulful house sound with a bouncing b-line, catchy key lick and sweet sax riff.

Review: Shinichiro Yokota is a true veteran of Japanese house music, having worked closely with the mighty Soichi Terada on Far East Recording in the early 90s before reviving his career around 2014 as his former label enjoyed a renaissance. Amongst the other labels to reach out to him for releases in the modern era were Sound Of Vast, an Amsterdam-based, Japanese-run operation which has been presenting genuinely compelling variations on the minimal house and techno template over the past seven years. Yokota returns to the label with some new material, his first in some time, and it speaks to his deep roots in deep house, sporting the air of a seasoned pro showing the new guard how it's done.

Review: Young Hungarian artist Wonderboy delivers a fantastic electronic house anthem featuring heart-piercing lyrics and warm tech house vibes. Jean F Cochois (aka The Timewriter) then delivers some Plastic City punch with one of the most amazing remix jobs he has done, period. Not to be outdone, Junkie XL represents with his own signature blend of chunky beats, dense electronics and added guitar and FX.

Yoshiki - "Travel On Short West Side"
Yoshiki & Akiko Kiyama - "Maybe In December"
Akiko Kiyama - "Small In Body, But Sharp In Wit"
Akiko Kiyama & Yoshiki - "Slow Fit"
Review: Kiko is a young talented Japanese female artist who has released a couple of 12" on Contexterrior (Berlin) and Sud Electronic (London), and one of her tracks has been featured in Richie Hawtin's worldwide hit album [DE9: Transitions]. Yoshiki is a DJ/producer who reside in Tokyo and just has released his debut 12" on Torema Records (Tokyo) which is a great collaboration work with Karafuto aka Fumiya Tanaka. This brilliant new EP includes four tracks as same as other releases on Opdisc. A1 and B1 are original tracks from Akiko and Yoshiki. A2 and B2 are collaborated tracks that are created by swapping sound objects between two artists. These collaborated works are very special features for Opdisc and this is what makes Opdisc different from other labels. Akiko's tracks are programmed with well-processed sound objects and have got very unique organic and liquid groove.

I Want Yu 2 Hear Me (Andy Caldwell & Bufi remix)
I Want Yu 2 Hear Me (Audiofly remix)
Review: Yoshimoto is blowing up big time based on their classic "Du What U Du" record. Now the follow up "I Want Yu 2 Hear Me" is gaining similar speed with a nice mix of dancefloor grooves and another killer vocal. Three mixes on this release, with a nice variety of dancefloor vibes to work with. Andy Caldwell and Bufi team up for a more chilled out groove with a hot acid bassline and a very Kaskade-like chorus. The hot Audiofly drop a scorcher of stripped-down synthy electro-house mania that'll work nicely for the Poker Flat and Get Physical heads, while Rob Le Pitch contributes a really pumping anthem styled big room burner. Hot vocal, hot mixes, quality record all around.
