Review: ***B-STOCK: Creasing to corner of outer sleeve but otherwise in excellent condition***

Since launching a couple of years ago, the Shamandrum label has exclusively offered up occasional EPs that feature founder Barac collaborating with other producers from within the worldwide tech-house scene. This time round it's the mysterious Ursul, who are research suggests is a Moscow-based producer and studio engineer. You'll find their collaboration, "Aura De Magie Si Mister" on side B. Built around African style tribal drums and weirdo electronics, it's a deep and intoxicating percussion workout that sounds like it should be the musical accompaniment to a sunrise pagan ritual. Barac's solo A-side, "At The Moment", is a little closer to his usual fare and offers an ear pleasing blend of bubby bass, psychedelic electronics, gently descending melodies and a hypnotic, deep tech-house groove.

Review: For the label's first compilation, Cabaret Records has decided to introduce us to their Alien Family. By the sounds of the collection, they're a motley crew of studio mutants united by a love of creaking hardware, sci-fi synths and intergalactic dancefloor workouts. Happily, highlights are plentiful, from the acid-fired, bleep-heavy throb of S-Audio's "Remote Circuit" and weighty electro crackle of Binh's "Wova", to the dreamy underwater deepness of EK Box's "Watair" and the classic deep house/Detroit techno fusion of So Inagawa's futurist masterpiece "Solitary Affair". Evan Baggs's contribution, the TB-303 madness that is "AZS", is also superb.

Review: Earlier this year, legendary NY house label King Street Sounds was acquired by Armada Music. The Dutch imprint plans to reissue many of the well-known - and lesser-celebrated - gems from the King Street vaults in the months and years ahead. To kick things off, they've delivered this vinyl sampler featuring some of the stable's most admired cuts of all time. So, we get Dennis Ferrer's iconic remix of Blaze and Barbara Tucker's gospel-powered soulful house anthem, 'Most Precious Love', the 'King Street Mix' of Jovonn's legendary deep, bumpin' tribute to New Jersey's Club Zanzibar, 'Back To Zanzibar', Mood II Swing's hot and heavy 'moody club mix' of their own Carole Sylvan collaboration 'Closer' and the all-time deep house classic that is the Wamdue Black extended rework of 'Cascades of Colour' by Ananda Project. Simply essential!

Most Precious Love (DJ Takashiro main mix)
Most Precious Love (Sergio Flores Scientific Soul Afro vox mix)
Review: Another round of mixes for the summer hit of last year, Barbara Tucker's "Most Precious Love". Freemasons serve up a swirling primetime filtered bumper; Ian Carey goes more anthemic, a swelling take that lets the bassline roam free; DJ Takashiro kicks off the flipside with layers of stuttering keys added to Barbara's superb vocal for a subtly techy mix; and Sergio Flores completes this solid quartet with a bouncing, Afro-flavored take that infuses some great Afro elements alongside the original's deep goodness.

La Fiesta (drum tool)
La Fiesta (original Nacho Flava mix)
La Fiesta (Spokenappella)
Review: If you are a lover and buyer of house music, your almost certain to have a Soulfuric production in your collection. Brian Tappert's label has been writing hits now for over 10 years and in the last two years has launched a couple of subsidiary labels to help with the output of Soulfuric. That's where Device comes in. The Bongoloverz have released a string of dance floor hits including the massive club tracks 'The Power Of Music' & 'La Esperanza' released on Soulfuric. The Bongoloverz get together with Latin Diva Ursula Cuesta to produce their latest offering 'La Fiesta', which comes in two hot mixes, the Balearic vocal mix and the instrumental Nacho Flava mix, plus bonus beats and an acappella. So if you have recently returned from Ibiza or still thinking of the summer, then this is a record for you. The Balearic mix is a peak time vocal track with a Latin Vibe and on the flip a big Latinesque dance floor roller with peak time drops in the Basement Jaxx mould. Both mixes have been getting support worldwide and now finally available on 12" vinyl.

Review: Initially released as part of last week's Record Store Day antics, Juno are happy to get our mitts on some of this limited "split grooves" 12" from the always reliable Kolour Ltd. Mr Frank Booker of Hit It Or Quit It fame leads the way with two A Side productions that sit happily between disco and house; loose, funk laden disco is very much the shape of lead track "Movin On" which features some great drum chopping. Complementing this, "It's Time" takes discoid elements and applies them to a crunchy mid tempo house template. Flip over and rising talent Ugly Drums pairs with Chesney for two soul laden productions, with the dusty Raw Cuts style antics of "Soul To Keep" complemented by the sugary beatdown of "Girls Girls Girls".

Ugly Frankie - "Your Ears Look Great" (6:46)
Review: Vinyl Only reach their seventh release with a fresh grip of lesser known producers bringing high grade grooves to the table. Bubbadog opens the 12" up in a woozy fashion with the warbling piano chords of "Goin' Round", capturing a time-slip mood that carries through to the dusty jazz soaked beat down of Minus The Majors' "Strole On Through". On the B-side, Alex Zuiev gets into an exotic, chiming, 80s-inflected mood on "Down By The River", creating a slow-burning dancefloor heater out of classic ingredients. Ugly Frankie finishes the EP off with the stripped down funk of "Your Ears Look Great".

Umberto - "My Mind" (5:51)
T Oceans - "Colour Depth" (6:34)
Review: The opening track on this release struts with a rolling bassline that could anchor any dancefloor. Layered atop are sharp, metallic percussive hits, interspersed with an eerie, almost celestial synth line that creeps into focus. The music has a cinematic quality; each moment feels deliberate, as though you're stepping into a tightly woven narrative. There's a tension at play here, too-the kind that builds anticipation without ever snapping into predictability. Instead of delivering straightforward house tropes, this EP leans into shadowy, off-kilter rhythms that refuse to settle, keeping you just slightly on edge. These tracks are about crafting mood and movement, creating space for subtle builds and unexpected breaks. The result feels more like a journey than a destination-a story told through restrained but impactful instrumentation.

La Premiere (Mudd Ode To Phreek mix)
La Premiere (Mudd Garden mix)
Review: Claremont 56's main man Mudd gets busy with two remixes of Holger Czukay and U She's "La Premiere", getting nice and slow to worm a lazy kind of shuffle into the original track from all-round Krautrock legend Czukay. The "Ode To Phreek" remix is a loungey track that hops along with quite a spring in its groove, as muted guitar strikes drive everything along behind U She's mournful tone. The "Garden" mix does slip a more prominent kick into the mix whilst subtly dubbing out certain elements in a coolly executed celebration of eclecticism.

Review: Leleka and Udacha artist Dices resurfaces on Split-based label Fields & Forests, overseeing their debut release which introduces Untitled Gear, a collection of artistically minded individuals from the St Petersburg area. Encompassing musicians, producers, photographers and singers, Untitled Gear sound like quite the sprawling group but there's a sense of cohesion and tightness to the four tracks here. Falling deftly into the pocket of jazz influenced house that Vakula has helped pioneer, Untitled Gear sound best when vocalists are employed, see the stupendously cosmic throb of "Nothing Is Over" and the sultry swagger of "Flying High". Stick With It
Review: It's a new Palham Music episode, people! The German label has been at the forefront of the house-techno underground for over ten years now, and thanks to releases by artists such as Lowtec and The Analog Roland Orchestra, among others, Dan Bust's imprint has always been given the respect it deserves. For their new, limited Purple Series, it's Cologne's Ugly Drums who comes through with his singular brand of funked-up dance music! "Scorpio Things Related" is a Theo Parrish Kinda tune - jittery percussion and sweet chords - while "Can't Take You Down is deeper and more cerebral thanks to its broken beat and lower-than-low-end! On the flip, "Spend With It" showcases some more of Ugly Drums' inimitable percussion flex, whereas "Stick With It" is pure soulful house magic. Ah, what a load of sweet cuts! Screen-printed jackets!

Review: Take It Easy are a Milan-based crew who love nothing better than the sweet fusion between classic disco sounds and upfront house music energy. Dirty Channels capture that spirit perfectly on this third release on the label, opening up this split 12" with the crisp and strutting "Guava Juice". DJLMP takes things in a more psychedelic, tripped out direction for the more adventurous groove hounds before longstanding champion Memoryman Aka Uovo gets dusty and woozy with "I Wonder". Urban Soul - "What Do I Gotta Do"
Bassmental - "It's The Music"
Review: Digging into their vaults for the original real deal when it comes to bumping garage house, King Street know the time is right for jams of this vintage to be revisited. DJ Romain's "All Day, All Night" keeps the vibe feverish with incessant vocal samples over the irrepressible beat and a gorgeous swell of pads, while Urban Soul get more, er, soulful with the honey coated vocals and smooth organ tones of "What I Gotta Do". The last cut is given over to one of Kerri Chandlers' early ventures with some collaborators, Bassmental's "It's The Music". It's a moody jam with enough edge to reach beyond the glut of happy-go-lucky garage tunes and now is a marvellous chance to pick it up in pristine condition.

Review: The unpronounceable Spclnch label drops more unmissable house heat with this new various artists' offering complete with cool artwork. DP-6 gets things underway with the brilliantly raw and undercooked house of 'Martian Sands' which is deep and dubby and packed with atmosphere. Eric Louis follows a similar path but with more light in his slick chords and Upwellings brings some tech edge and more tense, textual pads to his 'Steam Trail.' Anton Kubikov shuts down a heady, stylish backroom EP with the sub-aquatic dub techno goodness of 'Metal Cut'.

Unknown Artist - "Track 2" (7:36)
Review: Ame's Innervisions label has joined forces with Philomena here for a 15th release in its series. This one kicks off with an Ivory remix of Fever Ray's 'Shiver.' The leftfield electronic artist who is also part of The Knife has a distinctive voice, to say the least, and that shines out here as shimmering chords radiant around it and over a proggy groove. The flip side offers up and unknown artist with 'Track 2' which has a familiarr vocal left to hang in the air above a cold, snappy tech rhythm. It's the sort of quietly anthemic cut Ame are known for dropping at special moments.

Review: London's Serie Limitee, of course run by Monsieur Cedric, turns in some more of those sultry deep house jams. Strictly limited edition of course and totally underground; just the way we like it! Jordan Fields "Parlez Vous Underground" and Uncle Deep's "Just Do it Tomorrow" are the kind of French style deep house you'd expect from Silver Network and they're awesome. 99 Letters "Room In The Dark" is dark dusty and loopy, definitely one of the highlights and Jemaho's "From Dee To Chee" is one of the most convincing tributes to the legendary Midwest sound we've heard in a while. Review: As the four-year anniversary of Frankie Knuckles' death approaches, Trax has decided to reissue Ultimate Production, a re-titled collection of some of his finest Chicago-era moments that first appeared (with a slightly different track list) in 1991. All of the Godfather of House's early must-have cuts are present - think "Your Love", "Baby Wants To Ride", "It's a Cold World" and "Waiting on an Angel" - alongside a smattering of lesser-celebrated gems and his essential remixes of Dancer's "Boom Boom" and Kevin Irving's "Children of the Night". Review: The most sought-after release from the entire Sounds catalogue, Gemini and Unit T's 1995 release, 'Sideburns', finally gets a much-needed reissue. A1 track, 'Trip', is a prime example of deep house if there ever was one. An infectious, encircling melody meets the deep groove of the bassline to create a finished product that is in equal measure sun-soaked and cosmic. 'B Trip', the A2 track, is a gloriously shifted, off-beat reimagining of A1, pummeling percussion reverberates across the track, left alone to enjoy moments where everything is stripped back, before the body of the track returns. On the B-side, 'Mystery Tones' arrives with the kind of groove that instantly makes its way across dancefloors - a unifying track that feels precise in its simplicity, whilst still retaining exactly the right degree of looseness to get a crowd moving. This is a must-have record for any deep house aficionados, and you can now save yourself the hefty Discogs price tag!

Glitchingly restless come tracks like Hendriks Toth's 'Pescado Y Limon' and Jorge Savoretti & Lulla's 'Zoot', both of which we consider to be highlights thanks to their impressively slick and agile production quality and swing. Review: The Drifted Flow label made an early move in 2015 with a release from Tommy Vicari Jnr, but now returns with an entirely different premise - an eight-track double pack of fresh, invigorating minimal house jams from lesser-known and adventurous producers. Henry Hyde gets the collection off to a strong start with the wobbly funk of "Perchin," all dirty bass wobble and loose swinging rhythms. Elsewhere Martinez flirts with the crooked thump of electro, Alicia Hush wriggles through an abstraction of garage and Bilal channels a little of the Boogizm magic you might expect from S-Max or Fym. Overall, it's a release loaded with personality and flair for minimal spinners wanting some spicier ingredients for their mix.

HOSH & Uner - "Sonar"
Review: Subtlety has always been German label Diynamic's trademark, and on this split release, its artists favour a light touch to seduce their listeners. Hosh & Stimming's "My Shadow" is the most full-on track here, its dubby drums and breathy vocal samples underpinned by grinding bass licks. Without this element, "Shadow" is an innocent sounding, summery house groove in much the same vein as Solomun & DJ Phono's "Ice Cream & Bonus Miles". There, choppy drums and a juddering bassline provide the basis for atmospheric chord sequences. A similar approach is audible on Hosh & Uner's "Sonar", which features innocent vocals, while Stimming & David August's "Sexy Biest" completes this understated release with icy synths and jazzy piano keys set to stripped back drums.

Black Pomade - "Sea Urchin" (edit) (4:54)
Digei De Bairro - "Ferramenta N20" (edit) (4:10)
Review: The Manzo Edits label continues to do good work early in its life with a fourth volume of edits from various fine studio craftsmen. Jamaimoi's 'Ici C'est Toujours Les Vacances' opens up with some big disco loops, smart filters and feelgood drums then it's down into dry, sleazy dubbed-out territory with Unison Apollo's 'Belgian Mambo'. Black Pomade's 'Sea Urchin' pumps the party once more with old school drums and cowbell business, and Digei De Bairro's 'Ferramenta N20' then glides on spaced out pads and ascending grooves.

Blue Vulva & The Electronic Crooner - "Vulbitch Bazaar"
Review: Minuendo keep things interesting on this latest various artists 12", primarily focusing on Owen Jay and Brian James on the A side for two tracks of adventurous experimentation on the wild frontier of minimal house music. The wobbly synth running through "Niko's Groove" is a real head turner, while "Imagery" nudges the grand tradition of dub house into a new pocket of ambience that draws you in immediately. There's a lovely, classic deep house joint from Untitled called "Seafood", and then Blue Vulva & The Electronic Crooner completely flip the script on the B2 with rowdy acid burner "Vulbitch Bazaar".

Unitrax - "Another Feeling" (6:15)
Review: Transatlantyk are back with more of the finest in Polish deep house. This time by Jazxing and Unitrax on a split EP and it's pretty killer. The former is up first with "KS Gruv" which has that classic NYC house vibe ie: Kerri Chandler. "The Coast" dives well deeper on this emotional and melancholic groove. On the flip Unitrax offers us "Oasis (Water Of Love") a dark and sombre chill-out number with exotic percussion and rich synth work, contrasted by the most evil, snarling sub bass: it's pretty alright! "Another Feeling" however is raw and dusty deep house, woven from dreams, that sounds like an old tape from '92 for fans on current faves Terreke or Florian Kupfer.

Kisk - "Friends" (Anton Kubikov Closer Friends mix)
Review: Apparel Music pushes forward with a four track single from label-founder Kisk. The Italian producer teams up with some associates of the imprint on a couple of the featured cuts, while Anton Kubikov reworks the title track to shape up the 'Friends' EP. Title track 'Friends' opens the single, seeing Kisk delve deep with a dusty Jazz-tinged deep house workout. Gritty drum samples, a double bass hook and a blend of cosseting Rhodes and murmuring vocal lines lay the foundations, while emotive string melodies add a further beauty to things creating a classy, understated piece to kick things off. Kisk then teams up with Undeep aka Gennaro Mastrantonio for '4Friends' following in the same ilk the duo drive the record with sweeping pads, bumpy raw rhythms and bubbling background atmospherics to again create a slow-blooming elegant record. On the latter half of the release Kisk pairs up with Portugese producer Accatone, this time taking the feel in a more upfront and direct direction as weighty sub tones fuel the tracks energy and ethereal pads, subtly processed piano hits and spoken word vocal lines drive the musicality. Then finally to close the EP Moscow based producer, notably known for his work with the likes of Kompakt and Trapez turns in a stunning melodic interpretation of 'Friends', skillfully composing dazzling piano hooks alongside heavenly pads, berloque percussion and a hefty amount of sub.

Francesco Farfa & Hamsa - "False Cruelty" (5:39)
Ubik - "Command You To Lie" (Hi-Ryze remix) (5:49)
Review: Musek deliver a fresh V/A comp in the varicose veins of lively progressive house and dilly acid trance (ish), cycling through three originals whilst closing things off on a reimagining of a classic. First there's Joy Kitikonti and Hamsa with 'Tricks Of The Time', a burgeoning journey packed with metallic clanks and scraping basses; next it's Farfa's retouch of Hamsa's 'Overthinking', which does an impressive job at depicting overthought with rabbit-hole filtercut arps and manic calculative leads. Farfa and Hamsa return for the comparatively brooding 'False Cruelty', which peppers its on-a-mission pluckstabs with the odd spaceship UI blurt; and finally, the classic-remix in question is Hi-Ryze's brutal rendition of his Ubik alias' 'Command', the original version of which was released in 1991, and to which Ryze multiplies its deathly yet seductive vibe through madhouse chirp leads and doomy diminished chords.

Showing the set at its most embracive and far-reaching, we're treated to a ridiculously cool, sleazy digi-lounge version of "Big Fun" and a super-slamming high NRG take on "Boogie". Review: Eight further sonic spirits are conjured on the seventh edition in Damian Lazarus' annual compilation series. Emphasising deep house and techno grooves with a hypnotic flavour, the procurement here is exemplarily brooding; Dino Lenny's 'I Have Sampled Father' marks a sure turn away from the openers' cleaner-cut mesmerisms with a smoky, funk-inflected haze, bringing rhythm guitar and paternal murmurations to a surreal montage. The monologuing mood continues on the equal highlight that is Upercent's 'Where Are You', whilst Enamour's 'Jackpot' rounds out the show with the record's only brightly-lit minimal triller. The record is marked by sensuous, distant, familiar voices throughout.

Review: It would be fair to say that post-disco outfit Unlimited Touch's 1980 single "I Hear Music In the Streets" is one of the greatest boogie/electrofunk records of all time. Louie Vega clearly agrees, because late last year he decided to gather together the remaining members of Unlimited Touch and record a fresh 2020 version. The A-side "Touch Mix" is the bomb. It features a more organic-sounding disco-boogie groove than the 1980 original, with delicious guitars, bass and electric piano/organ underpinning seriously good group vocals from the sometime Prelude-signed outfit. Over on the flip, Vega serves up an electric piano solo-laden dub mix, as well as a "Classic Boogie" take that naturally sounds very similar to the band's much-loved original version.

Million People (Chez Damier & Samann Balance dub)
Review: Second release in a week for Christiano Rinaldi, with the disco tinged proceedings of his Small World Disco twelve inch complemented nicely by the straight up industrial acid business of this drop on Manocalda Records. "Million People" unfolds excellently into a fully pumping old school jacker with obvious nods to Chicago, not least when that vocal hook comes in. A further sheen of interest is provided by the accompanying remixes from Chez Damier and Samman, with their Underground Dub take stripping things back to a low slung bump that has delightful little melodic touches swimming around the corner of your senses. Just when you've made yourself comfortable they throw in some killer stabs which signal an upward shift in rhythmic momentum. Their second Balance Dub opts for a chunkier feel with smudgy melodies swinging deep below.

Review: Plastik People are back with another volume of unmissable torch bearers for true-skool garage lovers to rejoice at. Things stride in bright and bold with "Mellow Mellow," which plays a dummy move with its trippy sound FX intro before ripping into a romping, sax-fuelled bumper courtesy of seasoned pro Sinan Mercenk. Templeton Peck takes things deeper on "Sweat Mix 2" - a forgotten gem from the golden age of 2-step. Meanwhile Uschi Classen makes things truly dreamy on the woozy but utterly funky "Take Me High," a seriously deep cut previously only available on white label.

This is the first in a series of such releases and it kicks off with a fresh melodic house blast from Morgan, then gets the hands in the air with an old school, percussive piano number with UC Beatz's 'Ain't Good Enough' before S3A appear with 'Layers', a loopy filter house jam with sunshine, disco and soul in equal measure. Review: Ace London via Glasgow operation Huntleys & Palmers return with a second Chapter, their irregular series of split releases. Whereas the first one issued almost a year ago drew for some crazy club material from artists closely associated with the label, this second edition seeks out contributions from outside talent. Any record that features contributions from both Optimo Music Golden Teacher and Wolf Muller is going to get our seal of approval and both are highlights. The latter opens proceedings with the wonderfully off kilter "Rudeltanz", whilst Golden Teacher's "What Time Is it" comes off like a pitched down Charles Manier cut. Further contributions from Comeme artist Sano, Studio Barnhus act Usio, and Discos Capablanca associate Oklo Gabon will all nice up the dance too!

Review: The Delusions Of Grandeur label has always been a hotbed for quality deep house, and some of the game's best and brightest have graced its catalogue. Another great thing about the label has been its continuity and ability to think forwards, and this new series entitled Delusions 50 does just that. Review: If you're looking for raw, ruff and retro, this is probably the best you'll get. New York label Nu Groove continues to spotlight the artists that made the label what it is today: a firm favourite of crate diggers then and now. With this being the fifth in the series to reissue their select most vital tracks, which here come re-edited and remastered, 'Nu Groove Edits Vol. 5' opens with Ny House'n Authority's 'Fort Green House' after its re-edit by Arms & Legs' Daniel Steinberg, which sets the tone for a janky and roomy pandora's box of groovers. Also of note is the sweet, washy piano house arkenstone that is Underground Kids' 'Get Up', trumping a B-side that is, while still great, has nothing on the A2.
