Evideon - "Game Over" (7:24)
Review: For the label's first compilation, Cabaret Records has decided to introduce us to their Alien Family. By the sounds of the collection, they're a motley crew of studio mutants united by a love of creaking hardware, sci-fi synths and intergalactic dancefloor workouts. Happily, highlights are plentiful, from the acid-fired, bleep-heavy throb of S-Audio's "Remote Circuit" and weighty electro crackle of Binh's "Wova", to the dreamy underwater deepness of EK Box's "Watair" and the classic deep house/Detroit techno fusion of So Inagawa's futurist masterpiece "Solitary Affair". Evan Baggs's contribution, the TB-303 madness that is "AZS", is also superb.

On the A-side (the bright one) you will find intergalactic jack groove represented by Contra Communem Opionem aka CCO (Zurich) and made acid trip together with the cosmic rider Andreas Gehm (Coln). the dark B-side accepts the challenge from imperfect planet's chastener Umwelt (Lyon) and a major black hole instigator Moralez (St. Petersburg). mastering is done on the international space station under the guidance of Alden Tyrell (Amsterdam). annals of the universe available only in the form of a physical plastic 12'' carrier in a limited edition of 300 copies...

Umwelt - "Celestial Mechanics" (5:12)
Review: To mark a mighty impressive 20 years of PuZZling records in 2023, the label has put together this heavyweight mix of names for an EP that sounds as good as it looks on marbled vinyl. It's a truly global affair with artists from all over the world and The Exaltics kick off with 'All Of This', a typically rugged slide of electro. From there the quality never dips with Freddie Fresh jacking your body, the legendary Neil Landstrumm bringing his textbook machine madness and Umwelt closing down with 'Celestial Mechanics'. Old school electro, acid and techno heads take note, this is a must-buy.

The Exaltics - "Endless Journey" (5:09)
Umwelt - "Delusive Reality" (5:33)
Review: On this installment of the long running Rave Or Die series, ever-present producer Umwelt is joined by prolific, mask-wearing techno misfits The Exaltics. It's the latter, a German twosome headed up by Robert Witschakowski, who strike first, layering up bubbly electronics, hard-wired acid lines, muscular beats and spacey chords on the sweaty techno/electro hybrid "Endless Journey". Umwelt goes a little deeper and moodier on flipside "Delusive Reality". While the acid lines are sharp and occasionally intense, he contrasts them with bittersweet pads, yearning melodies and a pulsating rhythm track full of relentless kick drums, crunchy snares and hissing cymbals.

Fasme - "Crying Robot" (5:20)
CCO - "Solar Sail" (5:36)
Unwonted - "Frontier" (4:40)
Serge Geyzel - "Flash" (5:19)
Review: Analog Concept Vol. 3 delivers a striking collection of forward-thinking deep techno, blending electro, acid, and sci-fi elements to push boundaries across its four tracks. Fasme opens with 'Crying Robot', a standout acid electro monster that's both raw and energetic, setting the tone with its sharp, robotic intensity. CCO's 'Solar Sail' follows, bringing a darker, sci-fi edge to the mix. Its blend of EBM and new beat creates a timeless, futuristic trip that feels immersive and cinematic. Side-2 kicks off with Unwonted's 'Frontier', a high-energy electro track laced with trance elements, adding a hypnotic, rave-ready vibe. Serge Geyzel closes the compilation with 'Flash', a heavy-hitting deep electro cut that dives into darker, alien soundscapes. Its deep techno undercurrents enhance the track's sense of foreboding and mystery. Overall, Analog Concept Vol. 3 captures a thrilling array of deep, futuristic sounds. Take a journey through techno's more experimental and atmospheric realms with this Russian label. Each track stands strong on its own while contributing to the cohesive, forward-thinking vision of the compilation.

Review: Dame Music is a sure shot for rough and ready techno with the Midwestern bite, a sense of adventure and enough punch to teach the pretenders a thing or two. Their Melting Point series has been an intermittent treat amongst their catalogue over the years, and Volume 4 does not disappoint. This time around label mainstay Bloody Mary is joined by the likes of Fear E, Dylab, Freddy Fresh and Umwelt for no less than five rip-roaring workouts geared towards the gnarlier kind of techno party.

Gemini - "A Trip" (5:11)
Gemini - "B Trip" (4:49)
Unit T - "Mystery Tones" (12:56)
Review: The most sought-after release from the entire Sounds catalogue, Gemini and Unit T's 1995 release, 'Sideburns', finally gets a much-needed reissue. A1 track, 'Trip', is a prime example of deep house if there ever was one. An infectious, encircling melody meets the deep groove of the bassline to create a finished product that is in equal measure sun-soaked and cosmic. 'B Trip', the A2 track, is a gloriously shifted, off-beat reimagining of A1, pummeling percussion reverberates across the track, left alone to enjoy moments where everything is stripped back, before the body of the track returns. On the B-side, 'Mystery Tones' arrives with the kind of groove that instantly makes its way across dancefloors - a unifying track that feels precise in its simplicity, whilst still retaining exactly the right degree of looseness to get a crowd moving. This is a must-have record for any deep house aficionados, and you can now save yourself the hefty Discogs price tag!

Blue Vulva & The Electronic Crooner - "Vulbitch Bazaar"
Review: Minuendo keep things interesting on this latest various artists 12", primarily focusing on Owen Jay and Brian James on the A side for two tracks of adventurous experimentation on the wild frontier of minimal house music. The wobbly synth running through "Niko's Groove" is a real head turner, while "Imagery" nudges the grand tradition of dub house into a new pocket of ambience that draws you in immediately. There's a lovely, classic deep house joint from Untitled called "Seafood", and then Blue Vulva & The Electronic Crooner completely flip the script on the B2 with rowdy acid burner "Vulbitch Bazaar".

Obsolete Music Technology - "Comb Freq" (7:12)
Review: With its festival, International Series, DJ Directory and Soundsystem: Dimensions has become a leading name in the underground. In only a mere six years of existence thus far, that's quite impressive we must say! Now, they extend their influence with the start of a new label: Dimensions Recordings. It launches with a 12 track compilation across three separate discs. Where the first disc delved into the exotic and explored world music and soulful vibes, this edition features some cutting edge electronics from legends and new heroes of the scene alike. Electro heroes London Modular Alliance appear with their best impression of purist Detroit electro on "Crosstalk" while the A side also features the glacial dub techno tones of Upwellings' "Soft Shadows". On the flip, Fachwerk boss Mike Dehnert gives us the very Robert Hood sounding "Tokio"and Windy City legend Steven Tang aka Obsolete Music Technology appears with something harder than you'd usually expect from the man: on the gnarly analogue techno of "Comb Freq".

Review: These days, there are quite a few vintage Borft releases that attract big money in the second hand market. This may have been a factor in the label's decision to kick off a new "Classics" series showcasing rare and sought-after gems from the vaults. Volume one focuses on tracks released between 1996 and '98, first showcasing the Detroit techno/spacey deep house fusion of Pher's "Tja Boo" (one of the highlights of the producer's now rare-as-hen's-teeth Dans Vid Iglasjon double-pack), before switching to the slower, darker and druggier vibes of Dan Fun's "DFSS1". On the flipside, there's another chance to savour the rubbery, pitched-up New Jersey deep house grooves of Crinan's "Kilimanjaro" and U's "Smooth Lover", a classic chunk of sci-fi techno blessed with some brilliant organ solos.

Review: The Brutalist Sunset label resurfaces with Bitstream's Dave Conner at the helm for their annual transmission under a newly formed alias. The Uexkell project fits in perfectly with the Brutalist Sunset manifesto of transmissions from deep within the mainframe, with this four track EP rippling with pure hardware intent. Mind bending from the off, "Hormad" revolves around half tempo breakbeats and lopsided buzzsaw synths that will appeal to the freaks out there. "Keonigs Division" opts for a Utopian sheen whilst keeping the rhythmics broken and caked in tape fuzz, whilst "All Rac" is thunderous, wall shaking electro at it's finest. Final track "Exer" sees Conner adopt a more experimental tone which will leave you clamouring for more Uexkell material.

Review: Blind Allies have been steadily amassing an impressive catalogue of various artists 12"s that plumb the depths of dirty, underground electro with a particular focus on their native Latvia. On this sixth installment the star of the show is -=UHU=-, a long serving electro warrior who has appeared on Body Control and International Deejay Gigolo Records in the past. There's plenty of collaborations, including partnerships with Kan3da and Luke Eargoggle, as well as solo -=UHU=- tracks, while Obergman and Eargoggle also team up for a tune. All in all, this is serious, gutter dwelling machine funk from a heavyweight cast that demands the attention of all discerning beat freaks.

Review: While many upon first glance would look to the usual suspects of the Detroit electro sound such as Dopplereffekt or Ectomorph, we should never forget the work of the legendary Dennis Richardson aka Ultradyne who has been dedicated to his craft since the mid-nineties. His latest release Resurrection: Return From The Abyss is a fitting title even though it has only been a short hiatus of two years. Richardson still can nail those darkside futurist beats like not many others can; evidence of this can be found on the vintage boom and squelch of the explosive opener "Return From The Edge", the body bashing dystopian gloom of "V 1014" and the apocalyptic breaks on "World Made Straight". Sick!

Review: Ultradyne has been called a 'fundamentalist' techno artist, and while this is a term we've hardly come across to describe much techno before, we think we get the gist with this new release, Nativist. The five-tracks on this banger-filled 12" tend towards the novelty moods of early electro, with 'Native Serenade' emitting all manner of window-wiping, slippery acid sounds, and the bleepific 'What We Must Do For Chaos' creeping into superfast hardcore. Themes of nationhood and 'protecting the realm' are present, speaking to techno's ironic appropriation of militaristic defence themes.

Review: French legend Umwelt is back again for Dutch imprint Shipwreck. The man with a career spanning nearly 20 years and the figure behind the Shelter, Fundata and New Flesh/Rave Or Die imprints serves us with the State Of Matter Remix Series 01. The original version shows off its fierce and booming bass and acid attack. Ekman's remix keeps the focus on the 303 side of things, joyriding that little silver box to a squealing and screeching hot mess. The Exaltics rendition goes for a dusty and rusty acid techno style, full of vintage flair. Finally Eomac, one half of techno terrors Lakker delves deep into the abstract as always, delivering a tough yet hypnotic and mesmerising version which is a surprising highlight.

Review: Whether turning his attention to electro or techno, Umwelt is a master of hard, mind-mangling club cuts whose efforts over the last 25 years have included a string of classics and a wealth of overlooked gems. Here he returns to long-serving Dutch stable Shipwrec for the first time since 2017 with another quintet of moody, all-action workouts. He begins with the deliciously twisted, energy-packed intensity of bustling acid-electro number 'Galactic Empire', before opting for a darker, more clandestine feel on the doom-laden electro shuffle of 'Collapsar'. 'Reflectivity' is a more shimmering slab of far-sighted soundscape electro that doffs a cap towards mid-90s ambient techno, 'Redemption Arc' is an immersive ambient interlude, and 'Day Zero' is a fiendishly psychedelic slab of hallucinatory acid electro.

Review: Russian label Mosaique has thus far carried some serious heat from artists like JASSS, Caron and Savage Grounds, and now they're shifting their nightmarish electro tendencies back to the various artists format of their Universe series. Umwelt leads the charge on this second installment with the eerie machine snarl of "Fallen Empire", followed up by two versions of the devilish "Sleep When You Die" by Moralez & The Horrorist. Alessandro Adriani is first up on the B side with the driving, noirish techno pulse of "Cosmic Transmissions," and then Morah rounds things off with the squelchy, spiky workout "Track 5".

Review: This reissue of Underground Resistance's seminal Nation 2 Nation LP is a significant moment; the group's messages of liberation and resistance feel as relevant as ever, not least given the reivisionist concept behind this EP. Perhaps, though, we should resist chinstroking too much; for the original liner notes of this seminal release criticize the over-intellectualization of characteristically African American art forms such as house, hip-hop, jungle and jazz. Even so, this 1991 classic stands as tall as ever, with sax contributions from Lenny Price helping to explore exactly what jazz would sound like if it had originated with the analogue gear that was available to UR's members, decades later.

Review: If you ever needed to understand the core principles of Detroit electro, then look no further than this timely reissue from Underground Resistance. In light of the new music coming out in these times that is indebted to this particular side to the masked crew, it's refreshing to hear how vital and uncompromising a track as well worn as "The Final Frontier" sounds now. The pace doesn't let up as the cosmic surge of "Entering Quadrant Five" takes over, but hold tight for "Base Camp Alpha 808" as it sports perhaps the most compatible structure of all the tracks in light of more modern juxtapositions.

Alongside this, Clone present three further excursions into raw, emotive techno with the final "Monoman" a particularly gleeful acid dripper. The realisation that these four tracks still sound crucial several generations on demonstrates the quartet's importance in electronic music. Finally, any criticism for Clone belatedly rounding off this series of I-F and Co would be seriously tempered by the sheer amount of quality music that emanates from the lowlands based emporium.
