Review: It's a big shame Netflix's Archive 81 was cancelled so hastily. The plot had plenty of potential - Dan, a video restoration expert, is hired by a shady, or at least mysterious corporate client, to restore damaged footage shot by grad student Melody of an apartment building that burnt down. Possibilities abound, despite clocking up more than 128million viewing hours in its first month streaming, the powers that be decided it wasn't to be.
In many ways, it's actually a pretty fitting way to go - perhaps there was something in there. They didn't want us to see. Maybe we're just paranoid. Either way, the soundtrack is well-suited. A combination of visceral, semi-industrial noises, eerie jazz nostalgia, strange otherworldly synth stuff, and ghostly whispers, press play if you're brave enough.
