Lore takes two of the lush all-analogue oscillators from OVUM, and adds frequency modulation to unlock a wild new range of sounds. It's designed for exploring tones, drones, and frequency modulated textures. Each voice is made of an independently controlled triangle-core oscillators, with separate control for volume, pitch, and can be crossfaded between a bright square wave and a crisp triangle wave.

Lore is frequency modulation. The left oscillator can be sent to the audio output, where it will create harmony or dissonance with the right oscillator, or it can be switched to modulate the frequency of the right oscillator. This is a simplified and analog version of the kind of FM synthesis you'll find in digital synthesizers like the DX7 and it's descendants. It's hand-built from 100% analog circuitry, with no digital components, screens, quantization, or key-combinations to memorize - everything is immediate and at your fingertips.

Lore is enclosed in a sturdy transparent-green petroleum-free bioplastic case. It has a USB-C port for power, and a single 3.5mm audio output jack for headphones or line-out to connect to an amplifier, audio interface, or effects.

To reduce waste, by default Lore comes with just the instrument and a USB to USB-C power cable. If you don't have a spare USB power supply, they can be added to your purchase at checkout. Lore is portable, but does not contain a battery. It can be powered by any USB powerbank.

Notes: An evolution of the monophonic Typhon synth concept, the Artemis applies similar interface design to a six-voice analogue synth module with Sinevibes digital effects. Lots of power and typically classy Dreadbox sound.

The JMT Synth EWG is a desktop analog synthesiser with a wide-ranging VCO and two reconfigurable sub-oscillators that emit square waves, ideal for thick bass tones. Two adjacent knobs can control the pulse of the square waves, allowing for a wide range of tones and timbres. Two reduce knobs govern the leve of each sub-oscillator, allowing the user to blend the tones to their taste. The EWG-1 is powered by a DC9V center negative adapter or a single 9V battery.

Notes: Quirky synth fun from JMT, the NDE-1 is based around two oscillators, sample and hold, noise generator and a four-pole low-pass filter. Generate random tones, control via a sequencer or process external audio.

This model consists of two VCOs (oscillators), SAMPLE & HOLD, noise generator, low-pass filter, LFO, VCA, and envelope generator to create a powerful sound.

By itself, a wide range of sounds can be created, including random and regular intermittent sounds, mute timing, and fine-tuning of levels.

If you input sounds from other equipment through the A IN, you can apply a variety of filters, LFOs that oscillate the filters, and mutes to the input sounds in parallel with the built-in oscillator.

The variable range is wide enough to produce a variety of sounds. The filter is a 4-pole filter that works very smoothly, and external audio can be input via A IN.

You can also use it with a sequencer to create even more sounds.

CV INPUTs can accept - + 9V. Do not exceed this voltage.

When the Arpeggiator is activated, the keyboard will repeatedly play the keys that are pressed in the selected sequence. The arpeggiator's timing and rhythm is based on the keyboard's time division setting in either the keyboard's tempo, or your DAW's tempo setting. Each note in the arpeggio will be the length selected for the time division setting. For example, if you select 1/4, each note in the arpeggio will be audible in quarter note increments. This powerful tool can operate in Latch or Momentary mode, making it easy to unleash your creativity.

Notes: An exact replica of the legendary Pearl SY-1 Syncussion drum machine, featuring expanded I/O board. Classic analogue sound with individual trigger inputs, two voices and six different oscillator modes per voice.

Supplier's Notes:
The Michigan Synth Works SY-1 Drum synth is a full size, exact replica of the Pearl SY-1 Syncussion. Every detail has been replicated from the original board layouts to the mechanical construction. The assembled version has been modernized to use current manufacturing processes while still using the original board layouts and all parts have been carefully chosen to match the behaviour of the original. Case, boards, and I/O Boards are all interchangeable with the original Pearl device.

Assembled versions come with the METAL back standard, the wood case is available as a DIY kit separately.

The Syncussion:

The Syncussion is a 2 voice drum synthesizer with two oscillators per voice and six different modes. Five modes mix and modulate the oscillators plus a noise channel. Each voice has controls for TUNE, DECAY, SWEEP amount, SWEEP Speed, Sweep up/off/down, LFO amount, and LFO speed, LFO Shape (Tri or Square), and sample and hold.

OSC Modes:

A: One oscillator sound, at this position the regular drum synthesizer sweep can be effected.

B. Sound of one oscillator adjusting the other oscillator frequency; produces a metallic sound.

C. Sound of a mix of two oscillator outputs; sound is similar to that of a vibraphone.

D. Sound of mix of two oscillator outputs; produces a low to high sweep and is done by hitting pad softly or hard; there is no connection to SWEEP SPEED and SWEEP RANGE

E. Sound of one oscillator adjusting the other oscillator frequency with a mix of noise; produces a sound similar to hitting thin metal.

F. Sound of only noise

Triggering:

The SY-1 is designed to be triggered via drum triggers which output a very low pulse signal. Modern 5V trigger signals (v-trig) can be used, how it i recommended experimenting with simple audio samples or more dynamic triggers. One of the more interesting features of the Syncussion is the dynamic response to the drum triggers and just sending a straight pulse which maxes out the trigger inputs does not do the device justice.

Tuning:

The original SY-1 uses a tune pedal to adjust the pitch of both oscillators while playing. This functionality has been retained in the original configuration but is of limited use without the pedal. The expanded version DOES have per voice CV control (1v/Oct) as well as the MIDI.

The inputs and outputs use 1/4" Stereo to 1/4" (3 included) to greatly expand the capabilities of the device. The Mod input is prewired to VCF freq but can easily be switched to decay via jumper on the voice cards.

The SY-1 ships with a metal base panel but the DIY wood case can be used instead. It is provided UNFINISHED and sold separately.

MicroSD storage allows the storing of a life-long of patches, programs and multis, along with the history of editing operations for undo/redo.

Filter Options:

The device is available with the original 3 Mutable voice cards (more will be added later one). Mixing voice cards is possible but not recommended.

SMR Filter: This filter uses the same topology as the Shruthi SMR4mkII. It is a low pass 4 pole OTA-C filter. Its is a smooth "Roland-ish" type filter.
