Tarika Blue were a New York-based band who explored jazz fusion with a vibrant sound fronted by Irene Datcher's vocals. On their second album they presented a sound which could be sultry and fierce in equal measure, and their legacy was assured when Erykah Badu famously sampled 'Dreamflower' for her equally classic 'Didn't Cha Know' from Mama's Gun. The whole album is a wonder to behold, and this repress on Chiaroscuro should bring a deep dig back in reach for many a jazz lover.
