Having generally impressed everyone who heard his fromage free take on Tina Turner for Cole Medina's American Standard label, Scottish producer Lord Of The Isle serves further notice of his obvious potential on the Hot Blobs EP. Released via the Lord's own Little Strong imprint, there's an obvious reason why the A Side also lends its name as the EP title - it's really rather special! Sitting comfortably between classic Planet E techno and 80s soul chuggers, "Hot Blobs" squelches and bubbles in all the right places before riding towards the heavens for a gloriously shimmering finale. On the flip "Tell Your Soul" arises from the kaleidoscopic ether into a disjointed deep house rhythm befitting of a calmer moment on Mathematics whilst "This Way" splays jittering, subaqueous riffs over skittering rhythms and dirt encrusted splurges of sonic texture. A seriously impressive release from the Lord!
