Review: Prolific collaborator Lawrence English links up with accomplished electro-acoustic virtuoso Lea Bertucci on this new album for American Dreams. Bertucci's primary focus as a player is on alto sax and clarinet, but in the context of this record her playing folds into the quivering, slow-shifting plates of sound. It's simultaneously steely and synthetic, and yet charged with an ancient, elemental spirit which will keep you on tenterhooks throughout. It's certainly not a one-dimensional kind of ambience but a monolithic, complicated thing that will hold you attention with ease.
