Trip II The Moon Part 1 (Danny Byrd remix) (4:22)
Trip II The Moon Part 2 (NRG remix) (5:31)
Trip II The Moon Part 3 (Scott Brown remix) (4:25)
Review: Kniteforce Records drop the first instalment of remixes for UK hardcore royalty Acen's landmark 'Trip II The Moon' series. Originally released on Phil Fearon's iconic Production House imprint, Acen's Trip II The Moon trilogy formed a crucial part of the hardcore canon. The first remix comes courtesy of d&b veteran Danny Byrd, who delivers a bassbin-rattling slice of choppy late hardcore nostalgia, replete with air-raid sirens, plentiful Prizna-esque wubs, and a rushier rendition of the famous brass hook. Next in line is NRG, who reimagines 'Trip II The Moon Part 2' as a vast, multipartite 'ardkore odyssey, sashaying between misty-eyed E-lation and punishing hoover beatdowns, before Glasgow's bounce techno innovator Scott Brown raises the roof with a typically rushy hard house version of 'Trip II The Moon Part 3'.

Vegan Rice Beats (1:02)
Review: Deathchant continues its mission to put out the most deranged and situated hardcore out there with this new one from Akira, which takes the label well over 100 releases. 'Rice Up' kicks off with an unlikely sample from the tune best known for defining the Rocky soundtrack and it comes in a world of caustic fuzz and noise. After that one, 'Smoke Dad' is another techno blizzard with dense synth winds howling away over the edgy and serrated bass and beats. 'Vegan Rice Beats' shuts down with hip-hop samples and plenty of scratching.

Review: After a brief pause to allow their frankly huge 36-track VA compilation to sit and breathe a while, Motive Hunter Audio is back at the sharp end of the jungle scene with this new EP from the brilliant ARKYN. It's a lovely slab of grey wax that revives a blend of hardcore jungle techno that is not for the faint of heart and comes with a tasteful homage to this subgenre's roots. Packed with piano stabs and 4x4 kicks, the EP delivers controlled mayhem that is perfect for the club as collaborations with SYNTAX, DJ B, and ARKYN's alter-ego DJ TUF all bring depth and hints of early Dutch rave influences.

Review: Mike Ash burns the dancefloor to a crisp with these firing new UK hardcore assaults. 'Eurotic' is dense and loopy with bright metallic synths looped next to grinding bass until you are at breaking point. 'Eat My Bleep' brings lottery, trance-tinged rave stabs up top over more snappy low ends and 'My Number' then brings some old school piano energy snappy drums. 'Spell Bleep' taps into that 90s Warp sound and has the kind of menacing synth oscillations that bring original rave bang up to date.

Review: B.I.T. Productions launches its new Alternative label with UK talent Stu Chapman's debut rave house sounds first to make their mark. The original mix if 'Hold You Tight' is a high-energy, synth-driven anthem featuring a hands-in-the-air piano break and soaring vocals serving up a catchy chorus. The Retropolis Remix transforms it into a breakbeat powerhouse with gritty synths and melodic pianos then the Crowdpleasers Remix delivers an uplifting house stomper with organ melodies and a massive piano break. Finally, the M-ULATE Remix throws it back to 1992 with a piano-driven breakbeat rave-up. Reach for the lasers!

Review: Everyone's talking and no-one is listening... Unless Chatta B is chewing your ear off with his militant breaks - because then we're all ears over here. Unleashing the ghosts of 93 with big sacks of sheesh and oh my gosh, each of these cuts hits hard with the neck-snap breaks and big hooky samples. 'Watch Out' sets the scene with energy, 'Real Badman Sound' goes full-on rudeboy, 'The Exit' is a big sing-along moment while 'Easy Take It Easy' sends us off into the sunset with mixed sentiments... The vocals are like a sweet rum punch while those rattling breaks on the rhythm are more like a tum punch. Talk to us.

Review: Breakbeat brederen unite for another sermon at the altar of Dawl who brings the chaos to this new 12", Slice & Dice. The title track kicks off with some mad old school scratching before fresh breaks bounce along and a ragged bassline joins in the fun. 'Let's Go For A Ride is another percussive workout with snares and toms all flapping away at high speed and 'Sonic Boom' keeps up the madness with slick, high-speed beats and corrugated bassline. Last but not least, 'Ready To Go' completes the picture with another fresh collision of breaks and scratching.

Review: "A record planned for almost 30 years is finally happening!" say the only notes with this new, one-sided and limited edition hand-stamped 12". It finds DJ Heartchore offering up two versions of the same track. 'In Love' is a classic hard techno banger with more energy than a classroom full of nine-year-olds after a crate of Monster energy drinks. 'Heaven' sets the scene with all big flavours from the time; euphoric pianos, wild time-stretched drums and a feel good energy. Deeper into the EP we rave as 'Stella' takes us into deep space with its prowling arpeggio and alien-landing pads. Review: Dogpatrol returns to Sneaker Social Club with four more tracks of gritty, genre-bending rave damage. Despite hailing from Offenbach in Germany, his sound blends UK influences like breakbeat hardcore, dubstep and garage and that results in a mutant style that's uniquely his own. '1200kcal' features jagged UKG drums and cosmic bass arps while 'Baby Flame 'channels warehouse electro with a heavy synth splat. 'Ya Playin Yaself' delivers a dubstep roller with playful keys and 'Offgenbach HBF Riddim' adds a breakbeat twist with echoes of The Blapps Posse. The dance floor don wrote this one at the same time as his celebrated 2-X-Treme EP so brings back plenty of the scone pleasures of that ear. Dave NA kicks off with thrilling take on 'Extacid' that is riddled with 303 lines and snappy snares. Review: EBY is an acid house artist who has more than made his mark over the years. 40 years, to be exact, and to mark that rather notable occasion he is back with a special release on Foxbam Inc called ACID Thing and it comes in various different formats. This is a grey vinyl version that celebrates the classic acid sound while infusing it with a modern twist and plenty of big basslines, squelchy synths, and potent rhythms. The standout 'Acidanus' includes MC Soph who made her debut on Acid Indigestion Pt4 at just eight years old and now returns at 25. Review: To make it to 40 years in any job is a fine achievement, but to do it in the fast-paced world of electronic music is even more rare. But that is exactly what EBY has done - he has been turning out acid house jams for four full decades now and to celebrate the milestone has put together a special release on Foxbam Inc called "it's an ACID thing" and it comes in various different formats. This one is a black and grey splattered 12" limited to just 100 copies. It features the ragga vocals and crushing beats of 'Bun Da Acid', the brilliantly gurgling 303 lines and ice-cold drums of 'Acidanus" (feat Soap MC) and the darker and more moody vibes of 'Eggtrip'. His Rave EP collides many different influences from techno to electro, acid to rave, and also chucks in some classic samples to really make the tunes pop. The first is a peak-time breakbeat bruiser with slapping hits and yelping vocals, then 'Hippies Gathering' is a prog techno classic from the late 90s Castle Morten rave scene. His rave stabs are tightly coiled and looped, the bass is fleshy and elastic and the vocal samples add that unique character. Once the pianos arrive, the euphoria flows freely. All the fun of the fair guaranteed. Twisted acid and trippy squeaks? Check 'Drop It'. Need a little old school weirdness? Get into 'Crafstman'. Swaggering subby breaks? It's all about 'Asphyxia'. Review: Whether or not Lennie D'Ice's 'We Are I.E' was the tune that inspired the birth of jungle has long been a matter of debate. Regardless, it was certainly highly influential - a booming, sub-heavy breakbeat hardcore anthem that undoubtedly shifted the musical dial on its initial release in 1991. Here the freshly remastered original - sounding weightier and sharper than ever - is joined by a trio of 21st century interpretations. Solo and Blade kick things off with a crisply chopped and pleasingly rolling re-edit before Horsepower Productions brilliantly re-imagine it as a punchy and powerful breakstep smasher. Arguably best of all though is the take from Bristol's Borai, who brilliantly joins the dots between bassline, 4/4 UKG and saucer-eyed turn-of-the-90s house. Let me hear you scream!

The feels remain high throughout the rest of the EP: 'In The House' is all about that rolling jungle techno 4x4, 'We Run Tings' nods towards the bleep side of the foundation and that aggy, tense Prodigy Experience vibe before 'Sonic Tonic' closes with a big hoover riff that drops into the most euphoric element of the EP. X-Plode: putting the bang into bangers each and every.

Review: Bong-Ra's Bikini Bandits Kill! Kill! Kill! commemorates two decades of groundbreaking electronic music with this special 20th Anniversary Edition. Originally released in 2003, this reissue showcases the Dutch producer's mastery of breakcore, jungle and hardcore techno. With its relentless energy and intricate rhythms, tracks like 'Miss Strap-On USA' and 'Blood & Fire' deliver sonic assaults that defy convention. The album's fusion of aggressive beats and cinematic samples creates a dystopian soundscape that is both exhilarating and unsettling. Bong-Ra's visionary approach to sound manipulation shines through each cut and means this anniversary edition a must-have for fans of experimental sounds.

Review: We already knew what a talented and innovative producer FFF has proven himself to be, but on his new and much awaited album Eternal Mind he finds new heights even by his own high standards. He wastes no time in sweeping you off your feet with some electrifying synth work and almost juke like drum programming on the opener 'Axehead' and from there explores all manner of drum & bass sound worlds, from minimal steppers like 'Magnetic Mountain' to cosmic future funk workouts such as 'What We Once Where' and on to ice cold and warp speed gems like 'Curve of Forgetting.' Sensational work.

Review: Those interested in the roots of UK bass music have been well-served of late, with a number of books and compilations focusing on the first wave of British dance music in the late 80s and early 90s. Soul Jazz's latest compilation is a superb addition to this growing list. It showcases music made in the post-bleep and early breakbeat hardcore period, where basslines got bigger, drum breaks faster, and ragga influences started to come to the fore. The selections are on-point throughout from the dub-wise rave rush of Babylon Timewarp's "Durban Poison" and the bleep-and-breaks-meets-proto-jungle shuffle of DJ Dubplate's "Tings A Go On", to the rave-rap goodness of The Freaky's "Time & Age" and the heavily edited darkcore/early jungle insanity that is Krome & Time's terrific "Ganja Man". In a word: essential.

Review: Grab it while you can! Kniteforce Records continue to juice up their never-to-be-reissued-or-repressed KFW series with this walloping VA featuring an exciting range of old names and new. Highlights include the rushy vocal throwback 'Genesis' from Sunny & Deck Hussy, the cloud-smashing dreamy vibe out 'Close To Nowhere' from Sub Fundation and the wild piano finale from both Beeno & Alk-E-D and Ross Fader as their tracks ('The Weekender' and 'Dream Catchers' respectively) end this epic EP with so much euphoria you might just go out, hug a random stranger and offer them some chewing gum.
