Access Denied (Carl Finlow edit) (5:30)
Review: Italy's Emilio Urbano is back on ACEW Studios (A Credible Eye Witness) and it's been a long time between drinks; fifteen years to be exact. But what better way to return to the scene with a release featuring three edits by undisputed electro legend Carl Finlow (the man behind Silicon Scally and Random Factor) in collaboration with Alessandro Ferranti aka dj SaY. Absolutely epic sounds on "Many Machines" with its apocalyptic, vocoded vocals. "Control The Rhythm" is killer peak time electro bass, as is "Access Denied". For fans old old Anthony Rother and Bass Junkie & Dexorcist, look no further. Tip!

Iland
Just Soul
Round Eco
The Dip
Review: Laboratory Instinct grace our shelves with the third in a quartet of 12 inch releases that act as the vinyl version for A Guy Called Gerald's recent and rather sleek ''Tronic Jazz'' album. Your attention on Side A will dominated by the spectral dalliance with vintage Detroit techno mechanics of ''Iland'', with expertly layered syncopation reverberating around to a backdrop of cavernous throbbing bass and dreamy synth lines. This contrasts nicely with the neo techno futurism of ''Just Soul'' with melancholic strings slipping between tense off-kilter drum programming and bubbling atmospherics. Proceedings shift up a gear on ''Round Eco,'' which pulsates with menacing KiNK-ish energy, with an odd vocal murmur forming the driving groove around which Simpson wraps glacial keys and deviant bass twinges. Closing track ''The Dip'' oscillates wildly with B movie sci fi synth lines and scratching metallic tones.

I Repeat (6:06)
All Out (8:03)
Waybackmachine (5:58)
Review: A Made Up Sound man Dave Huismans is not messing around on this 12", his first outing on Delsin for six years. Opener "Thin Air" may contain creepy melodies, strange samples and curious orchestral samples, but these largely play second fiddle to a booming techno rhythm. "All Out" and "Waybackmachine" also hit home hard, with trademark rhythmic madness and densely layered chords combining to create two hectic and intense broken techno smashers. Even the EP's most laidback moment, the noticeably deeper "I Repeat", owes its' power to a surging sub-bass line and some snappy post-dubstep rhythms, rather than its' faintly unsettling electronics and melancholic musical elements.

Hang Up
Sweetback
Review: ** Repress ** Dave Huismans swiftly follows on from that incendiary 50 Weapons 12" with an equally explosive return to the Clone Basement Series. One of the first names to contribute to the series back in 2009, both "Hang Up" and "Sweetback" find Huismans eschewing the jagged, garage flecked drill techno dynamism of last year's "Take The Plunge" for some of his "most banging, straight-forward club material to date". The lead track is bristling with uneasy liquid funk, heavily diced Hancock vibes cascading around the buccaneering drum patterns with glee. "Sweetback," meanwhile, creeps out from the murky depths, driven by dust battered kicks and gnarly, sinewy analogue twists - there's no greater philosophy at work here, it's simply dark techno for dark rooms.

Review: Dave '2562' Huismans returns to Clone Basement Series for the first time since 2012, with another installment of the ongoing Archive series. As usual, there's plenty to enjoy, with opener "Cheater VIP" - much sought-after since he dropped it in his Boiler Room set last year - providing the near perfect fusion of funk-fuelled techno rhythms, metallic percussion and industrial textures. "Funkstation" is an altogether creepier, deeper proposition, with sinewy strings and discordant horn samples complimenting a sludgy groove. The rolling intensity of "Us" ups the creepy stakes even further, helped, in no small part, by some particularly ghostly cymbals.

Ahead
Endgame
Review: Dave Huismans is always a producer guaranteed to confound your expectations; he released a slew of material last year that ranged from cavernous techno rave for 50 Weapons, uneasy liquid funk for Clone's Basement Series and the dehydrated desert rhythms of the Air Jordan EP. His eponymous imprint is where the real crazy stuff seems to land however, and we've been eager for another since the eardrum splitting "Take The Plunge". Thankfully this hand-stamped return to the label is no disappointment; "Ahead" is a broken combination of industrial rhythms and breakbeat-inspired sampling, described rather succinctly by one Soundcloud commenter as "stutter funk", while the B-side, entitled "Endgame" is a more conventional techno number, made no less furious thanks to its Underground Resistance undertones, serrated bass and malfunctioning drums, reminiscent of the recent Numbers reissue of Unspecified Enemies' classic "Multi Ordinal Tracking Unit". Essential!

Syrinx (7:17)
Review: Dutch producer Dave Huismans has been called many things over the years, the majority of them glowing thanks to his work as 2562 and A Made Up Sound. However we'd wager he's rarely been compared to a London bus, but that's the cliche adopted here as, like the famed mode of public transport, two A Made Up Sound 12"s drop in the same week! Both "Stumbler" and "Syrinx" have that signature Huismans blend of functionality and experimentalism on lock down with the former a particularly potent club tool! "Syrinx" is the more deranged cut, slamming hard when played loud!! Juno Records recommends!

HHJOABS (5:10)
Review: Stand up Dave Huismans. "Half Hour Jam On A Borrowed Synth" ranks as one of the best track titles of recent times! It is also one of the maddest cuts the Dutchman has committed to vinyl under either of his production handles, largely eschewing drums in favour of some slaloming synths that will cause chaos on the dancefloor. Don't disregard the lead track "Havoc" though, this one is just as deadly with Huismans laying down a killer slow motion techno monster. Both form the second of two must have AMUS 12"s to drop this week and come after a surprise outing on Acido alongside Dresvn.

Peace Offering (8:09)
Review: There's something undeniably unsettling about "Bygones", the lead track from Dave Huismans' latest outing under the A Made Up Sound pseudonym. It begins with the kind of feverish, voodoo-inspired drums regularly found on seriously heavy African drum workouts. When the metronomic kick drum comes in, it feels disarmingly out of time. It isn't, of course, but it's an undeniably trippy effect. On the flip, Huismans goes deeper, combining a hypnotic kick-drum pattern with hushed, dubbed-out chords, a locked-in bassline, and occasional melancholic melodies. It's as quietly beautiful and picturesque as the A-side is druggy and intense.

Pieces Of Me

Collapse (Rhythm)
Cycles Of Violence
Depford Blues (Excerpt)
Review: A Model Authority sees Shifted and Sigha join forces for a series of mooted releases that commence with Model 001. The new collaborative was apparently born out of "the desire to rise above the very modern mediocrity and complacency that surrounds us," and it sees both producers in a German-techno kind of mood. Much of the EP's harsh and quick-fire loops suggest an early-Regis influence, like "Pieces Of Me" and "Cycles Of Violence", while "Collapse (Rhythm)" sees three lone bass drums lumber in three-beat time like a half finished Henning Baer production. Model 001 also brings with it some industrial experimentation with "Etched" sounding like a broken television furiously exhaling white noise, while "Depford Blues (Excerpt)" is the perfect soundtrack for a Chris Cunningham remake of George Orwell's book 1984.

3-4-3 (original mix)
3-4-3 (Rolando mix)
Delta House (original mix)
Review: As he spreads his wings and reaches out to labels beyond his own Elastic Dreams imprint, A Sagittariun too reveals more dimensions to his pleasingly old-skool rooted sound with this EP on Hype LTD. "3-4-3" comes rushing at you in a blizzard of chopped up drum breaks and romping arpeggios with a distinct Underground Resistance gone 'ardcore vibe. That makes it all the more appropriate that Rolando has been assigned the remix slot on the record, notably paring the track down to a measured simmer which says a lot about the firepower the original packs. "Delta House" gives rise to a more complex kind of techno laden with sax and off-kilter drum programming in the finest B2 tradition.
