Review: Native Soul Recordings has been around a long old time in dance music terms and now it looks back over some of its finest works with this first in a new series of Best Of comps. Music writer Harold Heath is first up with 'Slipstream,' an effortless smooth late-night house cut with introspective chords and silky pads bringing real depth. The Candy Dealers get more lithe and elastic with the spraying bass and jumbled percussive house of 'Train Of Thought' and last of all, Asad Rizvi remixes Jevne's 'Moderize' with a funky little bassline and chord vamps that keep you on edge. A tasteful package of timeless house grooves.

Review: Content is the alter ego of London producer Jesse Rose. He has previously released records on Classic (as Induceve alongside Dave Taylor aka Switch), Dubsided and his own labels Front Room and Made To Play. "No Refunds" has electronic and jazzy elements all mixed up into one big melting pot, which is driven relentlessly by a jackin' groove. The Chi-Town and beats versions provide alternative twists for different moods. "Endorse Your Salt" has a much deeper groove with an infectious live bass hook. An essential selection of tracks to cover a variety of scenarios. Jesse has remixed Heidi vs Riton for Get Physical, Rekid for Rekids, Layo & Bushwacka for Olmeto and Jimpster for Freerange. Jesse has also recently released the debut artist album "More Than One", on Front Room Recordings. It features collaborations with renowned producers such as Solid Groove, Henrik Schwarz, Domu, Audiomontage, Rob Mello, Chris Duckenfield, Trevor Loveys and Jamie Anderson. Jesse's second album "What Do You Do If You Don't?" is forthcoming on Dubsided, expect big things. After a period with Parlophone/EMI, Junior returned to its independent label roots, and continues to work with the most exciting talents in dance music today.

Review: A near daily ritual at the Juno offices in recent months has been to sit through the grainy YouTube footage of Dungeon Acid aka underground Swedish techno legend Jean-Louis Huhta drop some amazingly disjointed techno dripping with acid flavours at last years Nordberg festival. Now, finally, the first fruits arrive on this classy little seven inch courtesy of iDEAL Recordings. The stripped back "Warm & Damp" lays the emphasis on a slowly bubbling cloud of acid effects, with the pitter patter of drums barely noticeable, whilst its flipside counterpart "Damp & Warm" cranks up the schizoid acid action exponentially across a backdrop of skeletal drums. Whispers of a Dungeon Acid album later in the year are real cause for excitement!

Review: Dahlback again in effect on his new second home, K2 out of Cologne. "Hearki" envelops you in a rotund bass drum, splashed with effects, nagging groove and delicately spotted with small percussive effects, deadly in the details. Watch out for the obliterated middle section as well, like a shoot out in an arcade, real horror show man. "Raido" flies a little too close to the big sun called preset for our tastes, but the choogling "Sailjo" rounds up and offers a necessary dry aftertaste to the aural palette, very new-Balearic, very good. Usual big stuff from Dahlback.
