Review: Another hailed gem of the Italo disco underground resurfaces, as 'Another Love' by Marylinlove makes its return on vinyl. Originally released on the adventurous Sensation Records - a sub-label of Milan's Disco Magic that championed bolder, less commercial cuts - this Bruno Mosti-produced track has inspired National Treasure-scale searches, perhaps owing to the mysterious sensibility of the front persona, Marylin. As is often the case with Italo disco studio projects backed by mastermind producer-puppeteers (see Sally Shapiro), there is no publicly available information about Marylinlove's identity or any subsequent musical endeavor of hers out there, which only adds to the charm of this fluttery, flamboyant, recherche equity stake in synth-Talo.

'Blood Vibes' (Demo Version) is a desirous gemstone whose best facets reflect reggae, hip-hop and party breaks, though each side can only partially bend the unmissable light that is Kenny Dope" Gonzalez's production touch. Built around elements of Junior Reid's reggae classic 'One Blood', 'Blood Vibes' came about amid the pose-striking ballroom craze in New York in 1991, and even now we can hardly prepare ourselves for the riot that ensues on the following B-side, 'The Madd Cry'.

Review: Unatoned (stylized as UNATONED) serves as the 11th full-length from Oakland, California groove metal titans Machine Head and marks their first effort to feature drummer Matt Alston and lead guitarist Reece Scruggs (with the latter replacing Decapitated axeman Wac?aw Kie?tyka aka Vogg who worked with the band on 2022's Of Kingdom & Crown). First announced through lead single 'These Scars Won't Define Us'; a self-described "Wu Tang Clan-level thrash collaboration" featuring guest vocals from members of In Flames, Lacuna Coil and Unearth, who will all support the band across their 2025 North American tour in support of the project, the addition of secondary single 'Unbound' showcases mastermind Rob Flynn's knack for marrying venomous heft to anthemic structures, whilst the air of brevity compared to some of their previously far lengthier compositions is indicative of a much more instantaneous sonic delivery (or gut-punch) this time around.

Review: Italian-born but longtime Brooklyn-based Madteo stands at the crossroads of gritty, industrial grooves and experimental sound exploration, continuously challenging the boundaries of electronic music with his genre-defying work. Known for his love of cheap vinyl and uniquely odd records, Madteo's production style mirrors this raw, unfiltered approach i like sketching sound on a dirty napkin. Just as he seeks out imperfect, worn-out records, his music embraces the rough edges and unpredictable textures, creating a sound that's as spontaneous and unrefined as a hurried, chaotic doodle.Tracks like 'Cans People' tap into an archaic rave energy, while 'To Know Those Who' delves deep into fragmented dub techno, its non-linear structure a testament to his ability to twist familiar forms into something completely new. As the album progresses, 'Nocturnal Palates' expands the filter house universe with deep, evolving textures, and 'Rave Nite Itz Alright' surprises with its subtle yet intense chaos. Review: Miami-born and raised, synth-pop duo Magdalena Bay relocated to Los Angeles and have been blazing a trail with their self-produced music towards the top of the pop world. To celebrate the beguiling aura of their second album, released in August 2024, there's a limited repress of it in a stunning yet chaotic and artsy clear blue. Stacked with bangers, including the ethereal disco single 'Image' and the cosmic electropop epic 'Death & Romance' - which recalls Destiny's Child as much as it does Jean Michel Jarre - Magdalena Bay are clearly brimming with ideas. That they then know how to package these ideas with a cohesive visual aesthetic helps them hugely on their way and at the pace they're going creatively, there's seemingly a glorious road ahead.

Review: Mahavishnu Orchestra, a believably metaphysical force in the alternate plane that is jazz-rock fusion, released Visions Of The Emerald Beyond in 1975, indicating an accessible and funk-influenced approach compared to their earlier works. Through sprawling fusion fugues and shorter, more structured pieces, the record is, despite its compositional variety, a fadeless, seamless connected suite. 'Lila's Dance' stands tall among the movements especially, though 'Eternity's Breath' and 'Cosmic Strut' also abound in their sooling psychic projections, demoing the radical result of the shaken-up, second Mahavishnu lineup, with Mahavishnu himself, sometime Miles Davis ensemble guitarist, John McLaughlin remaining at the helm.

The album takes in standout cuts from Burnin', including unforgettable contributions from Tosh and the performance follows their short-lived stint touring with Sly & The Family Stone.
