Review: Rancid, or members of the legendary punk band, have put out a record every year since the turn of the new millennium. Tim Armstrong's A Poet's Life is one of them and it first came back in 2007 but only on CD. Now, it gets the full vinyl treatment and comes on limited gatefold milky clear wax via Hellcat. It is a deep dive into reggae and ska from the guitarist and frontman of Rancid and comes with able backing from L.A. reggae revivalists the Aggrolites. The modern, fun-filled reggae album is full of groove with nods to rock steady, roots reggae, and dancehall all filtered through his own unique pop-punk lens. Armstrong's voice is a key ascent of what makes this such a likeable record.
