Given that Ninos Du Brasil's 2014 album on Hospital Productions, Novos Misterios, was such an intense, mind-altering thriller, hopes are naturally high for this belated follow-up. The genius of that set lay in the Italian duo's dizzying fusions of densely layered Batacuda drums, wild post-punk vocals, sticky sound effects and dark, feverish electronics. Wisely, they've retained the same blueprint on Via Eterna, sprinting through heady tribal workouts, macabre techno soundscapes, thrash-Batacuda scream-alongs, hypnotic late night throb-jobs, rolling percussion tracks and nightmarish compositions that seemingly draw on all of the above. One track even sounds like a dystopian take on the Pet Shop Boys Brasil-inspired album, Bilingual. In other words, Ninos Du Brasil is still a thrillingly unique proposition.
