Back on 2013, Johnny Jewel started work on the soundtrack to Daniela Amavia's first feature film, A Beautiful Now. The movie met with mixed reviews on its release in 2015, despite being stylishly shot and featuring a plot based around a dancer's struggles to differentiate between reality and fantasy. Most critics were at least fulsome in their praise for Jewel's soundtrack, which here sees the light of day for one time. Variously moody, trippy, glacial and mind-altering, the album features a mixture of Jewel's instrumentals and similarly minded songs from associated acts (and Italians Do It Better stable-mates) Chromatics, Desire and Glass Candy. The latter's bubbly, late-night synth-pop jam "Beautiful Object" is particularly good.
