Review: For the past tren years, Newcastle-born musician Beth Jeans Houghton has been releasing music under the moniker Du Blonde. Starting out in the industry at a young age, after taking the gamble of dropping out of school, buying a guitar and teaching herself to play, it all paid off eventually and from 2006 onwards she's been busy touring, writing and recording. It was clear even back then that she was a musical protege with otherworldly pipes able to send goosebumps down the back of even the hardiest individuals. This - their fourth album under said moniker - features glam rock, grunge pop and indie guitar anthems with direct, compelling lyrics that reflect a life lived to the full. Houghton must have an impressive phone book after spending her entire adult life in the music business - the collaborators appearing on this hugely enjoyable album include Skin from Skunk Anansie and fellow Geordie Paul Smith of Maximo Park.
