Review: Two ultra rare british jazz sides. These are not the album versions but taken from the even scarcer original single releases. "Troublemaker" is a tougher percussive work-out whilst Original Peter is a danceable yet introspective slice of funky jazz.

Review: Although this tidy little 7" from Mako and The Hawk might sound like it was made in the late 80s on a pair of cassette players, these two beatsmiths are very much part of the current wave of dance producers, and Number Nine is there to support them on their mission. "The Devil Made Me Do It" is a funky, breaks-heavy funk bomb guided by Chima Anya's masterful lyricism, while "Strut Your Strut" is slower, looser and that little bit deeper for those B-side cats. Whether you're into old-school hip-hop or soul music, this EP has what it takes to float your boat good and proper.

Review: ** Repress for the breaks dons ** The long awaited new Visioneers Limited Edition 45 produced by Marc Mac of 4hero is here at last on BBE offshoot Omniverse. No messin' here as Visioneers go straight for the funk jugular with two dope versions. On the A-Side a version of The Shadows classic ''Apache'' gets flipped by Visioneers remake of Johnny Pate's B-Boy bomb "Shaft In Africa". Heavy horns and bongos aplenty - this is just wanted the doctor ordered. It's limited, it's hot, go get it!

Review: Hard Latin funk! Ricardo Marrero's 'Babalonia' is a banging Latin funk instrumental that has devastated dancefloors for years.

Review: There's no doubt that Marvin Gaye is a legend, but it's thanks to Erick Sermon's recent use of Gaye as a sample that brought upon a resurgence of interest in his amazing vocals. On this 12" you've got a nice laid back groove which uses the 'Music' sample to genius effect, resulting in a beautiful spaced out track ideal for lounging. Essential.

Review: Another top notch cheeky hip-hop reggae blend 45 from the man like Mato and the French Stix label. On Side A we get a reggae re-rub of De La Soul's most recent smash, "All Good" featuring a killer chorus hook from Chaka Khan. Flip it for the Mato re-touch of Cypress Hill's "Throw Your Hands in The Air". Handy stuff!

Review: German funk collective The Mighty Mocambos unleash another killer track from their third album Showdown on this 7" slammer for Legere Recordings. Up top "Not Get Caught" thrusts with tight drums and a crisp guitar lick, precision played to create space for Derobert's ballsy narrative. Flip for "Never Get Caught", a full-flavoured instrumental that gives every band member time to shine. Exemplary timeless funk that 45 selectors will keep in their boxes for years to come.

Review: Brilliant limited-edition special 7" release to this signing of the P&P Records group of labels. Both of these rare 1970's early Disco stormers have been in great demand over the last few years, both from Modern Soul and early Disco collectors. The 'A' side features the irresistible nitty-gritty early R'n'B Disco of Florence Miller's hypnotic "The Groove I'm In" which never let's up from the git-go! The 'AA' side features a record that has been in demand for the last 20 years and has never stopped being a massively collectible rarity whatever the era, so welcome to the original 7" mix of Four Below Zero's magical "My Baby's Got E.S.P." - a beautiful Patrick Adams-produced mid 1970's Disco rarity which should be in everyone's collection. As with all Suss'd 7" releases, this will have a one-off pressing run and will never be re-pressed.

Review: Mega rare funk out of San Antonio, Texas. Reginald Milton was only 13 years old and the youngest of 10 children when he recorded this slice of heavy funk, squeezing it in between his homework, swimming lessons and motorcycle riding. Following on from The Soul Clap is Back, the mighty Clap Your Hands was his second single, and both songs feature the heady combination of soul and clapping with rock-solid deep funk backing. Both singles were played on local radio at the time of their release, but sadly failed to hit. However, thanks to a single copy of Clap Your Hands discovered some years ago by DJ Shadow, Reginald Milton has now been found.

Review: Timewarp's a new label, "Mocambo", bring their own brand of contemporary funk into the mix. The Mocambo sound is very similar to that of the label Daptone or even the band Breakestra. These are some hot instrumental funk bombs and all three 7"s come in a very limited press!!

Review: 'Plenty Good Lovin' is the title track from the previously unreleased 1970 debut solo album of soul
legend Sam Moore, which for years was thought to lost in fire at Atlantic Records' storage facility.

Review: The multi talented Mr Day provides another release on Favourite Recordings with "Small Fry." Perfectly in tone with label and artist, this soulful release offers the original alongside a disco mix from Patchworks.

Hailing from France, Mr Day has his highly insurable fingers in several pies. He is the singer for both the French jazz combo, Metropolitan Jazz Affair and The Dynamics. He has also featured on highly acclaimed productions by Patchworks, Boozoo Bajou and Mr President not to mention his own electro soul releases on indie label Rotax. Now, Favourite recordings will be unleashing his debut solo album next month and have therefore decided to release "Small Fry" as a taster of the album which goes by the same name.

Displaying his immensely soulful disposition, the track Evokes classic 70s soul from the likes of Marvyne Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green. Its composition is sparse and roomy, each sound is given space to breathe as this easy and enveloping track unfolds with swagger and finesse. Effortlessly suave, "Small Fry" perhaps hints at the kind of pure soul music, dipped in elegance that we can expect from the forth coming full length. It is a beautiful track that also touches on Northern soul and Motown whilst keeping Mr Day's unique own sound.

Completing the package is fellow Frenchman, Patchworks. The esteemed producer and long time collaborator with Mr Day gives us a fresh and upfront disco-soul remix. More suited to the dancefloor than the original, his remix still retains the warm, vintage style that his production is known for.

a sexy groove. Flip comes more in a 70s funky breaks stylee with heavy drums.

Review: Gems? Diamonds, more like. Sparkling funky diamonds that shine from every guitar, horn, bass and deep belly-driven chants. First up is a 1976 number from Wganda Kenya who actually come from Colombia. You'd never tell; with vast harmonies and a sonic span that's as wide as the Serengeti plains, its heart beats to a strict Kenyan rhythm. M'Bamina add a French African touch to the B on a specially edited version of "Atide O Sika" by label boss Nik Weston under his MUKAT edit guise. Watch out for the deconstructed percussion and bass break. A finer example of an edit you will not find. The Juno edition of the single comes in exclusive packaging of kraft paper hand stamped inner sleeve,additional branded card sleeve,signed insert,sticker and plastic protective outer sleeve
