Review: Originally released in 2009 and celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Evisceration Plague would serve as the 11th full-length from Buffalo, New York (now Florida based) brutal death metal legends Cannibal Corpse. Following on from 2006's critically acclaimed Kill, the band promised themselves to endeavour to make each subsequent project even heavier, a feat they managed to accomplish by re-enlisting Hate Eternal guitarist Erik Rutan as producer (some years before he would ultimately join the group full-time). Tempering the balance of their vicious sonic onslaught with slower, grooving cuts like the malodorous title-track, whilst also veering into chaotic grindcore territory on the abrasive 'Scalding Hail', the album exemplifies their tireless consistency and compositional virtuosity, leaving little wonder as to how they've maintained their place atop the bone-strewn, viscera soaked planes of the death metal landscape for so many a decade.
