Sina XX & Metaraph - "Color Of People" (6:57)
Sina XX & Lacchesi - "Goth It" (5:43)
Enham, Lessss & Sina XX - "Le Demon" (5:10)
Review: Get your marching boots on and strap in for a white knuckle ride from fledgling label Body to Body. This second release from the French crew is another thrilling take on hard techno and gabba as Sina XX links up with different artists across four cuts. First, it is with Dance Divine for the flat-footed menace and lashing synths of 'Dancefloor Is Hot' then Metaraph joins for 'Color Of People,' a cut that burrows deep on an oversized bassline and edgy string stabs unsettle the mood. Sina XX & Lacchesi's 'Goth It' is a minimal excursion on tightly wrapped drums and bass that are full of pent-up tension then last of all is the most brain-frying and textural rave of the lot as Enahm and Lessss join in for 'Le Demon.'

G-Rated (6:42)
Power Hour (13:08)
Review: Woody McBride's Sounds label continues to dive back in the archives and revive some absolute gold standard techno for modern diggers. This collab effort between McBride (in his DJ ESP guise) and DJ Skull originally came out in 1995, and it still sounds fierce to this day. 'The Drive' is a stripped down tool with all the right chops to tweak out a locked-in raver, but 'G-Rated' is the real gem on the record. In a blistering hailstorm of 303 squelch you get a definitive example of acid techno at its finest. 'The Power' might well find relevance in the present day trance-techno scene thanks to its unsettling leads and relentless forwards thrust.

Exos - "Warlion" (5:46)
Perc & Million - "Rotopod" (5:37)
EAS - "Ryu Acid" (5:40)
Review: Perc Trax has long been excelling at caustic and industrial-tinged, white-knuckle techno excursions. Former 3 is another case in point as various artists come together to nail you to the floor of a gritty warehouse. The boss himself, Perc, appears with Million on the squealing, blistering workout that is 'Rotopod' while EAS brings wild video game soundtrack madness to his intense 'Ryu Acid.' Add in linear bangers from Somniac One with 'Junkyard Shift' and Exos's gabber-tinged, flat-footed stomper 'Warlion' and you have an absolutely monster EP of techno.

Al Wootton - "Raphael" (5:44)
Eliphino - "It's Hard To Say" (5:52)
Review: Charitable acts carry more significance than ever right now, and Needs are on hand with another instalment in their brilliantly curated series to give something to those in need while also presenting some wonderful, exclusive music. This one leads in with a truly uplifting blast of sunshine from Telephones before dropping into the edgy, swinging tech-funk of Ciel's "Faye Wong Plays The Strings". Al Wootton is on point with another of his fresh and dynamic twists on the soundsystem blueprint, with a dubby, percussive vibe that should appeal to those who miss proper dubstep. Eliphino completes the set with a squashed and feverish garage thumper that sounds like it has an iconic vocalist chopped up somewhere in the signal chain.

Review: Seven arresting, original new exercises from E-Saggila aka Canadian producer Rita Mikhael. She wears her love of dub on her sleeve - see the slow motion skank of 'Amnesiac' aming others - but not in the usual reassuring, bubbling echoes of dub techno, aiming for something much more angular and alarming. "Breaks remain staccato hammers," says the blurb, with maximum accuracy, "and kicks are cast to negate cardiac systems," while the rhythms veer from off kilter to nailed down and the sonics vary from the lush to the caustic. This territory to the left(field) of electronica is over saturated with identikit productions, but Mikhael does it like you've never quite heard before.

Review: Craigie Knowes is a by-word for electronic quality and now Eluize keeps up that reputation with a mini-album that blends electro, techno, house and space age sounds into six superb cuts. 'Ennui' is the acid flecked opener which heads off into outer space on slippery electro and 'Wasn't Ready' offers a more hard hitting and high tempo sound with punishing drum work. Next to serve up this new EP, Eluize has also recently recently launched a mentoring programme focusing on supporting womxn, non-binary and trans people in production, performance and label management.

Review: As well as being a fine producer, German artist Dominik Eulberg is also a famous naturalist, ambassador of the most popular Conservation Union in Germany the NABU, and park ranger who is very much inspired by the outdoors, and often relays that in his music. Heimische Gefilde was his second album back in 2007 and only ever on CD. It collects his best earliest works and now it gets a vinyl re-release complete with the spoken words by the man himself. The album won a German critic awards for music and remains a fine min ail and tech house document of its day.

Review: Some 15 years have now passed since Solar One Music founder Robert Witschakowski debuted The Exaltics alias, and in that time the project has delivered some genuinely brilliant and far-sighted electro and techno. This compilation of highlights, which mines a variety of albums and EPs released between 2009 and 2019 (including some previously digital-only and long out of print material), is therefore well overdue. Highlights are naturally plentiful, with our picks of an extremely strong bunch including the acid-fired, mind-mangling peak-time aggression of 'Second Phases', the heavyweight star-fall intensity of 'Irresistible', the Drexcyian rush of 'Skyway Chase' and the near D&B-tempo, new wave influenced retro-futurism of 'Nothing's Too Late'.

Review: Robert Witschakowski's tunnel-like focus on the advancement of electro continues apace with this latest Exaltics transmission for Clone West Coast Series, his second album after 2019's II Worlds and his latest since the acclaimed link-up with Heinrich Mueller, Dimensional Shifting. Of course this is electro first and foremost, so the likes of 'Let's Fly The Gravity Together' will hit the pleasure centre of any machine funk aficionado, but even more special is the presence of Detroit Grand Pubahs' Paris The Black Fu offering his unmistakable MC work to 'Lif Eono Ther Planets'. Paris returns for penultimate track 'Did You See Them' alongside Mr Remy, and in between there's an abundance of electro riches to fulfil your cybernetic fantasies.

Review: The Exaltics is always a dab hand at crafting cinematic sci-fi scenes out of his dystopian electro, but even he took it to another level with Das Heise Experiment. Conceived in 2013 as a soundtrack to a graphic novel, it was the perfect outlet for Robert Witschakowski's music beyond the function of a club 12". The atmospheres and moods he elicits from the Exaltics sound bank are brilliantly rendered across the whole release, which gets the ten year treatment on this reissue with striking, all-new full colour artwork which brings the visuals to life alongside the music like never before.

As expected, they've tapped some of the hypnotic techno genre's seasoned experts to deliver their take on deep and atmospheric dancefloor sounds. Highlights come from Dutch dub engineer Roger Gerressen with the heady greyscale minimalism of 'Angsalvor', the ever reliable Sebastian Mullaert will cast a spell on you with the arcane trance induction of 'Unwind' and rising Bavarian talent Polygonia hands in the strobe-lit frenzy of 'Stellar Rain' which will push you into mental overdrive.

Review: Troekurovo Recordings is a production team made up of Toki Fuko, Vadim Basov and Evgeny Vorontsov and they have been hidden away deep in some enchanted Russian forests recording music. Now they are putting out the results on this superb double pack. This project started back in 2016 as a live experimental jam and is now an annual tradition made on loads of analogue gear on the banks of a canyon that was formed many years ago by a melting glacier. The locale provides inspiration - from the fresh country air to the meteor showers often visible overhead - for the music making which is strictly "no preparation, no pre-programming - hardware, friends and live improvisation only."
