Notes: The only module named after a Swedish botanist? Possibly. Relentless synth innovator Dave Rossum pushes the boundaries again with a state-variable stereo filter offering through-zero frequency modulation. Sounds complicated. Sounds good.

LINNAEUS is a stereo state-variable filter that provides the unique ability to linearly modulate its resonant frequency through zero into negative frequency, while maintaining stability. With extensive voltage control of nearly every parameter, Linnaeus lets you manipulate the filter's natural response curve in new ways, to create both subtle and dramatic timbral effects. And with a "one-knob-per-parameter" interface, LINNAEUS inspires sonic creativity that invites (and rewards) real-time interaction.

LINNAEUS's cutoff/resonant frequency is exponentially voltage controllable from sub-audio to ultrasonic frequencies, while its resonant gain (Q) is exponentially voltage controllable from 0dB to greater than 60dB.

LINNAEUS's channel output response characteristics are independently and continuously variable from Lowpass, through Bandpass, Highpass and Notch, to Low and High Shelving characteristics. Voltage control of the response characteristics are independently selectable for each of the two channels.

The linear thru-zero modulation is provided by an integrated modulation oscillator and/or an External Linear FM modulation input.

The voltage-controllable modulation oscillator can track the filter's exponential frequency or operate independently. The modulation oscillator's output waveform is continuously variable from Off through Sine, Triangle, and Sawtooth, to Square. - Voltage control of response characteristics via an attenuverted CV input. Individual Response CV Enable controls let you independently enable or disable CV control of response for each channel.

- An integrated modulation oscillator with continuously variable waveform from Off through Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth and Square. Its frequency can be exponentially voltage controlled via an attenuverted CV input.

- A Track control that lets the modulation oscillator precisely track the filter's exponential frequency.

- Stereo inputs and outputs. LINNAEUS can process a stereo signal or two independent mono signals. While the two channels share the filter's cutoff/resonant frequency, the filter response characteristics can be independently controlled for each channel.

- The solid, high-quality construction you expect from Rossum Electro-Music.

What's with the egg?

The functional description above describes LINNAEUS as originally conceived and designed by Dave. However, late in the beta testing process, Rossum's tester, Chris Meyer, raised the possibility of alternative behavior that would let LINNAEUS function as a self-contained (i.e., no input required) stereo oscillator and/or FM percussion voice with some really powerful timbral capabilities.

While Rossum were initially hesitant to try to shoehorn the new functions into the existing interface, once Dave had prototyped them, it was clear to us all that they were just too cool not to include. So, Rossum have provided them in the form of alternate firmware accessed by pressing and holding the Egg button.

LINNAEUS is 16HP wide and 25mm deep.

Notes: An expander module for Rossum's powerhouse Assimil8or sampler module, the Locutus provides MIDI in, out and thru connections over 5-pin DIN sockets, letting you take full control of the module alongside other MIDI gear.

As of March 2021, there has been a been a small bug fix to the recent software update for Mob of Emus.

The update fixes a bug where holding the Channel Selector Buttons for a short time to select a single channel and deselect any others was not working correctly.

The update fixes a bug where some Hex Mode parameters were not ignored when Hex Mode was set to off.

The update introduces a feature allowing users to double-click and hold the Hex button to reset all Hex Mode parameters and set Hex Mode to on.

Rossum Electro-Music made a change to the behavior of the LEDS when using the utility 'Display Software Revision'

The MORPHEUS Eurorack module includes over 280 filter configurations, what we call Cubes. Notes: The Serge Dual Universal Slope Generator (DSG) is probably the most versatile module of a Serge Modular system, incorporating a wide range of functions for both CV and audio. Some functions for which one Slope Generator can be used: VC Transient Envelope Generator, VC LFO, VC Portamento device, Envelope Follower (Detector), VC Pulse Delay (Monostable), Sub-Harmonic Series Generator (Divider), Audio Oscillator with variable waveform symmetry (saw to triangle), Non-Linear Audio Processor (low-fidelity VCF).

From the catalog: "The Universal Slope Generators are unity gain voltage followers with voltage controllable slopes. The range of control is exponential, extremely wide, and the Rise and Fall times can be controlled independently. The range of the Slope Generator is from sub-sonic to high audio frequency. Trigger inputs and trigger outputs allows each section of this dual module to function as a transient (envelope) generator, pulse delay, or in a "cycling mode" (to produce an LFO or clock). Since the Rise and Fall times are voltage controllable, this adds another dimension to the above functions.

The DSG mk2 version has been optimized for audio performance and speed/precision. The top section covers a frequency range up to more than 10kHz. It also offers improved tracking and some temperature compensation.

Notes: The Serge GTO is a newly designed, complex multi-functional module which can be patch programmed to provide various slew and sample functions both for audio and CV signals, but also act as a (dual) oscillator or filter or bitcrusher or ... It is one of the essential Serge modules. The GTO is an offspring of the famous Serge SSG.

The Smooth section will place a positive and negative slew on input voltage transitions for lag effects, voltage controlled portamento and for low frequency filter applications. In Cycle-mode (cycle jack patched to the input), the Smooth side “will oscillate yielding a voltage controlled triangle wave LFO. A high level into the HOLD input will enable the Smooth Function to be used as a track-and-hold circuit with voltage controlled slew rate.

The Stepped function can be used as a sample-and-hold with voltage controlled slew rate limiting. In Cycle mode, a pulse applied to the Sample input will generate complex staircase waveforms for control voltage applications and for use as audio signals.

Each side has a temperature-compensated 1V/Oct input for use as an oscillator with a frequency range of up to 20kHz (left) and 8kHz (right). Each side tracks over 5 or 6 octaves.

The Coupler is an internal comparator which compares the output levels of the Smooth and the Stepped Generators. This output is useful for generating complex control voltages or random voltages.

Notes: Pont-Neuf is an adapeor module which converts between eurorack jacks (3,5mm / 1/8") jacks and banana plugs, providing a simple link between eurorack and Serge 4U systems. Notes: The Precision VCO (PCO) is Serge's legendary oscillator. It combines raw vintage sound with astonishing precison.

The PCO is a versatile, voltage controlled oscillator now offering four high quality waveform outputs (sine, triangle, pulse and sawtooth) and both linear and exponential frequency modulation capabilities . A front panel switch conveniently extends the range of the PCO from the audio range (16 to 16,000 Hz) to a sub-audio range (.1 to 200 Hz) for use as a Low Frequency Oscillator.

EXCELLENT RESPONSE, TRACKING AND STABILITY: Featuring the identical exponential response, exceptional tracking characteristics, and perfect temperature stability as the NTO, the PCO is especially suited for use with the NTO or another PCO as a modulation source for dyanamic depth linear FM.

Two calibrated one volt per octave inputs as well as a variable processing input are provided for complex frequency control. FM depth can be varied with the front panel adjustment. A Sync input is also available for locking the PCO to another oscillator's fundamental, harmonic, or sub-harmonic frequency.

The Serge PCO is the only authorized version of Serge's classic design.

Notes: The RESONANT EQUALIZER (EQ) is a unique ten-band filter designed specifically for electronic sound synthesis and processing. Except for the top and bottom frequency bands, the bands are spaced at an interval of a major seventh. The Resonant Equalizer is designed to produce formant peaks and valleys similar to those in acoustic insstruments.

There are three equalized outputs: the two COMB outputs provide the sums of the two alternate filter bands, while the two top outputs are the (identical) mix of all filter bands. Please note that there is no sharp separation between the bands, moving any frequency knob will have an influence on both COMB outputs. This equalizer is special in that the bands can be set to be resonant: when the knobs are in the middle position, the response at the main EQ Output is flat. When the knobs are positioned between the 9 and 3 o'clock position, up to 12 db of boost or cut is set at the band. If the knob is set beyond the 3 o'clock position, the band will become resonant, simulating the natural resonance of acoustic instrument formant structures. Below the 9 o'clock position, increased band rejection is achieved.

The Random*Source version of the filter is a licensed and authorized adaption of the legendary Serge equalizer for Eurorack. It adds an input mixer with 2 inputs that can be built/used to attenuate or amplify/distort the input signal(s) before they are sent into the EQ and a Feedback section (knob and phase switch) which allows to feed back the output signal or the inverted output signal (depending on the Phase switch). Adding inverted feedback leads to phase cancellation effects - unlike the "normal" feedback, level decreases and the signal thins out.

Notes: The Triple Waveshaper (TWS) is a non-linear modifier which can transform a sawtooth wave into a sine wave. This classic module incorporates three independent waveshapers for modifying synthesizer waveforms or for processing signals from preamplified instruments. Although originally designed as a waveshaper for early Serge oscillators, this module has been found to be a excellent modifier of electronic and acoustic sounds, and is highly recommended for subtle timbral modifications beyond the range of simple oscillator/filter patches.

The R*S version extends the classic TWS concept:

+1: An additional (4th) waveshaper has been added (right after the first / bottom waveshaper) that can be dialed in smoothly using the +1 knob. Turned down (CCW) the bottom section acts as in the original (as if that additional waveshaper would not exist). Turned up (CW) the bottom section is actually 2 waveshapers in series.

Switches to link the 3 sections - bottom to top. Using these switches all sections can be set to act in series, starting at the bottom and ending at the top, providing the combined effect of 3 to 4 waveshapers (or anything in between) using the +1 knob.

Linking only the middle and top section and turning the +1 knob up (to have 2 sections in the bottom) allows you to use the module for isntance as two independent 2-stage waveshapers (using bottom in and out for one and middle in and top out for the other) - e.g. for stereo processing.

Notes: From one of the most iconic names in modular synthesis, the Variable Bandwidth Filter is a unique design, combining two state-variable VCFs with extensive CV control for clean, versatile filtering.

The Serge Variable Bandwidth Filter (VCF2) is probably the rarest classic filter in the Serge system, offering a unique combination of 2 filters. According to the 1983 Serge catalogue, the Variable Bandwidth VCF (VCF2) "has a band-pass output which can be varied manually or with voltage control. This is a standard response synthesizer VCF, typical to filters used in many studio systems. In the VCF2, two state-variable VCF's are connected in series to produce a total of five outputs. High pass, low pass, two fixed bandwidth outputs, and one variable bandwidth output are available. The outputs are all flat-response (no resonance) so the VCF2 is suitable for processing concrete sounds without introducing resonant coloration to the timbres. Under voltage or manual control, cut-off frequency of the high and low-pass outputs are affected, as well as the center frequency of the two band-pass outputs. Both center frequency and bandwidth are independently controllable on the variable bandwidth output."

Now - for the first time, designed and licenced by Serge - the VCF2 is available as a eurorack module. A new switch has been added which determines if the CV-controls are routed to the first (left), second (right) or both filters, bringing even more sonic options than the original.

Notes: The Variable Q VCF (or VCFQ, for short) from Random Source is a skiff-friendly Eurorack adaptation of what is perhaps the most famous Serge filter. It is an effortlessly thick and colorful 12dB/oct multimode filter with ultra-smooth resonance that never ceases to amaze. Amazing tonal variety comes from combining outputs, automating resonance settings via CV, and adding grit using its adjustable-gain input.

Simple filtration is only one of the VCFQ's many uses, however. Its amazing trigger input turns rising-edge pulses into thick analog kicks and toms which roughly track notes thanks to a dedicated 1V/oct input. This module also becomes an ultra-powerful modulator in "Lo" mode, with decaying/syncable LFOs well within grasp using the trigger input, along with free-running oscillation when self-patched. When fed stepped sequences, sample and hold, or other LFOs, the VCFQ can even function as an effective slew limiter. And that's not all: for those lucky enough to own two VCFQs, dual-peak resonance and an ultra-thick 24dB/oct low-pass mode offer some of the most rewarding synth sounds in existence. In short, adding a VCFQ to one's Eurorack system is always worthwhile.

It contains a double modulated lo-fi delay with cross-feedback and the unique possibility of self-modulation, where the delay output signal modulates its own sample rate. Also, it packs a parallel distortion with CV control of the drive. The distortion is after the delay. It's much more than a delay - you can get a simple reverb, comb filter, chorus and much more cool FXs which are hard to describe.

A matrix of awesome and a powerful and unique CV controller for your system.

LP1lightplane is an expanded, tri-dimensional LS1 lightstrip. The same functions are exposed on either axis plus pressure (z) for three times the fun!

Notes: The Kontact MIC is a lo-fi theme park. It's a Eurorack microphone preamp with a piezo contact mic built into the panel.

The creative applications are endless: finger percussion/rubbing/scratching, guitar input (works surprisingly well with just a little lofi crunch), acoustic sources to CV, etc.

The PCB fibreglass has quite a nice rough texture - rubbing it with a finger or a plectrum creates quite a wide range of sounds. The back of the panel is plated to expand the surface area of the contact mic. The mic will also pick up all the physical sounds in your modular- patching, cables rustling, switches, fingers on knobs - without picking up airborne sounds i.e. the sound your modular is making. At very high sound levels will pick up vibrations from the speaker output and start to feedback.

The module will work with both DIYed contact mics made from inexpensive piezo transducers, off the shelf contact mics (often called Piezo Pickups) made for guitars and violins which you can pick up for ten bucks from Amazon or eBay or more bespoke mics like the popular Jez Riley French models (including hydrophones!) which are firmly aimed at Sound Designers.

It is an easy way to bring environmental noise and feedback into a modular system, inspired by the early days of electroacoustic music in Paris and Cologne, and by the contact microphone and phonograph cartridge experiments of John Cage, Gordon Mumma, Robert Ashley and Nicholas Collins.

Notes: The SoundForce Chorus 6 is 16HP Juno style BDD chorus with plenty of CV inputs. It is using the Xvive MN3009 and the same audio path as the original circuit. It can do the classic Juno I, II and I+II modes. I+II modes are available from both the Juno 6 and Juno 60, each in mono (as the original) or stereo, giving you 4 I+II options. But the manual and external modes can take the module away from sweet and pretty sound territories right into weird and noisy soundscapes.

Some tech-talk:

A chorus effect is created by mixing a dry signal with a delayed signal. The delay time is modulated by an LFO to create more movement. To create some stereo width, the left and right modulation are 180 degrees out of phase. Exactly like the chorus in the Juno 6/60/106, the delay is made with MN3009 BBD chips. Also as in the original design, filters are added both before and after the BBD chips in an attempt to hide some of the artefacts of this very crude IC.

To get the audio "moving" through the chain of MOSFETs in the BBDs, driver signals are needed. This used to be done with the MN3101 BBD driver chip. Unlike the MN3009, there is no clone available of this ancient IC and this was a chance to add some modernity to the design. The drivers were replaced by a modern STM32 micro-controller along some extra ICs to convert the 3.3V logic to the negative voltage needed by the MN3009.

In order to recreate a genuine Juno-type modulation, the BBD driver signals of my Juno-106 were sampled over a few periods. Using the timer peripherals of the STM32, a replica of the BBD driver signals can be sent out to the MN3009's. Although the driver signals only follow a very basic triangle LFO shape and could have been generated using direct synthesis in the firmware, this method gives an exact copy of the original driver signals including all the potential imperfections.

Implementing a digital programmable chip also allows a digital-style interface with tactile switches and LEDs as in the original Juno interface. The last used mode is saved and loaded when the module powers on. The CV inputs (with the exception of the MIX CV) are acquired by the STM32 ADC and can modulate the BBD driver signals based on parameters in the firmware.

Features:

The SoundForce Chorus 6 has 4 main modes: I, II, I+II, MAN for manual and EXT for external. I and II are the classic Juno modes available in the Juno 6/60/106. Press both I and II to enter the I+II mode. While holding down I and II, press the OFF button to cycle through the 4 I+II options:

- Juno 60 mono - 1hz - 8% depth
- Juno 60 stereo - 1hz - 8% depth
- Juno 6 mono - 8hz - 25% depth
- Juno 6 stereo - 8hz - 25% depth

In I, II and I+II, only the mix controls can influence the sound, all the other parameters are fixed and CV inputs are not active.

Mix control:

Using the slide pot (fader) or the CV input, the mix between the dry input signal and the BBD delays output can be set. The orignal Juno balance is reached when the slide pot is in the middle (without CV connected). The mix control is a VCA-based crossfader and is 100% analog which means it can withstand really high audio rate frequency modulation.

MAN mode:

The manual mode gives you the opportunity to control every parameter of the chorus and gives you acces to the LFO that modulates the BBD delay times. Here is what you can tweak:
- time slide pot: sets the start delay time
- rate slide pot and CV input : sets the frequency of the delay time modulation
- depth slide pot and CV input: sets the depth of modulation around the start time
- mix slide pot and CV input: see above
- LFO wave: selection of different waveforms to modulate the delay time
- range: selection of 3 different frequency ranges for the LFO (S: 30Hz to 500Hz | M: 1Hz to 100Hz | L: 0.016Hz/1min to 10Hz)

In manual mode, the EXT IN CV input can be used to change the LFO wave, range or add additional modulation of the delay start time.

EXT mode:

In external mode, the BBD delay times can be modulated using an external signal through the EXT IN cv input. Plug in a CV source from your eurorack case into the EXT IN, set manually the starting delay time using the time slider and use the EXT ATT slide pot to attenuated the incoming CV signal (equivalent to setting the depth). In external mode, the depth/rate sliders and CV inputs are not active.

Stereo inputs:

The Chorus 6 can be used with either mono or stereo input signals. When the right channel is unconnected, the left channel is sent to the right jack so it can be used with mono signals. When using both inputs, each input signal is going through its own BBD delay line.

BBD delay time range:

The Chorus 6 gives you in the MAN and EXT modes a delay range that it is about doubled compared to the I/II modes. The original Juno chorus was using only a very limited range of the BBD chip and really stayed in the sweet spot. Extending to the full spectrum of the MN3009 yields pretty horrible high pitch noise at audio rate modulation, so the range has been limited to a usable section. When you apply high frequency modulation with great amount of depth, the delay time will be pushed in the extremities of its time range and quite nasty artifacts will appear in the form of squeaks and whines. Please note this is a characteristic of the BBD. If you want to reduce those artifacts, reduce the depth of modulation. On the other hand, if you are looking to add characteristic and vibe to the sound, audio rate modulation and plenty of depth will help you to get there.

Input levels:

Both Eurorack and Line level signals can be used as input for the Chorus. A small slide switch between the 2 PCBs can switch between Euro and Line. In Euro levels, the input signal is attenuated to an healthy level that is well below the BBD distortion point. Some headroom is also needed as the chorus is a sum of the input signal and the modulated delayed signals. For that reason, when the chorus is turned off the output attenuation is about 50% of the input level. When the chorus is on, the resulting output amplitude is similar to the input level. Line levels are also accepted by the module when the switch is on Line. Please note that Line levels input will be amplified to the Eurorack levels range at the output of the module. So the output levels are Eurorack in both Euro or Line input ranges.

Effects rack

Each voice has its own "rack" of effects, and all audio effects can be enabled at the same time, allowing you to manipulate your samples in real time, from a gentle lowpass to massive destruction!

pitch - a great sounding pitch engine, based on a 6-pole interpolator, which ranges from -1 octave to +1 octave.

bits - two different bitcrushing algorithms, based on sample rate and resolution reduction. It produces distortion and warms the audio signal.

filter - a low resonance filter, DJ-style, cutting off the high frequencies or the low frequencies.

freeze - sample and loop a fraction of the played waveform, creating a glitching effect.

levels - decrease the gain or drive the signal.

It's also possible to edit 'advanced parameters' like the start point, sample length, attack/decay and run mode, and create mute groups without breaking a sweat.

Finally, thanks to the 4 CV inputs, any of the effects (or advanced parameters) can be assigned to create amazing modulations!

Multi-layer sampling

One of the key feature is the ability to "multi-sample" your kits, multiplying Rample's potential. Each voice supports up to 12 samples, can be played randomly or in a controlled fashion. It's a great way to add complexity and variations, to create organic/acoustic sounding drums, or simply to increase the number of samples per kit (up to 48).

As an example, Squarp are providing a multi-layered drum kit, with 12 different recordings of a kick, 12 different recordings of a snare, etc. Sequencing them randomly leads to a more natural drum playing.

Another kind of multi-layered acoustic drum kit is also provided, where each drum is recorded with 12 levels of velocity. Controlling the layer to be played leads to intricate, convoluted drums programming.

Of course, it's very easy to create your own multi-layered kit, and you can use this method to perform multiple synth chords, sound glitches, voices, breakbeats, ...

CV/Gate and Midi interface

Rample is designed to be the perfect rhythmic companion of your eurorack system thanks to its Gate (trig samples) and CV (modulate samples) connectivity.

You can also use it as a standalone midi machine, without using the CV/Gate connectivity: the midi in port allows you to trig & control all samples parameters + effects values at the same time. Each Rample comes with a 'stereo jack to midi DIN' and 'stereo jack to jack' adapters, easing the chaining of multiple modules in order to create an 8-voice, 12-voice, 16-voice (or more) midi drum machine!

Notes: The Mankato Filter is a four-pole lowpass filter with positive and negative outputs at every pole, giving you slopes of 6 dB/oct, 12 dB/oct, 18 dB/oct, and 24 dB/oct simultaneously. The negative slope outputs allow you to use the Mankato as a quadrature sine oscillator with 8 available phases. The Mankato will self-resonate from subaudio to superaudio, and responds to one volt per octave through its unattenuated control inputs. When resonating, the 6dB/oct outputs are slightly hotter than the others and can be driven to lightly saturate at full resonance. The signal inputs are DC coupled, which allows you to use the Mankato as a voltage-controlled slew limiter at very low cutoff frequencies.

Notes: Studio Electronics' version of the boxy, Blade Runner-sweet and Boomstar-brash dual mode CS80 filter, initially married to the Omega Series Synths, and then tucked-in the 'Stars, now joins the Modstar Collective. They've twisted and turned the SE88 to unflatten the earth, so to speak; the original CS80 fed a HP filter into a LP filter, but with the SE88 your can select MODE 1's HP or BR to feed MODE 2's LP or BP, or patch it to reverse that pleasant path. The audio signal is completely controllable with input and output levels for each filter. Cherish and respect your filter's input gain stages, for a smooth yet often brassy sound - shed your mercy to strike hard for boiling, snarling bite, even to the blackout/cutout point (see Greg St. Regis, Tim Caswell, and Marc St. Regis' SEM filter commentary for a detailed diatribe on this "feature too far"); then and only then, uniquely blend mode settings for the filter family values you revere.

To get things merrily modulating, each filter employs attenuverters for frequency and resonance experimentation and decimation. While the SE88 does not self oscillate (Yamaha's creation didn't either), we did amp up the resonance level for full-throttle squelching. An additional master FM (frequency modulation) attenuverter-controlled level can feed both filters (when hungry enough) simultaneously, and tracking switches allow for individual keyboard response for each of the contrasting and complimentary filter modes.

Notes: The Neutron Flux 8 Pole Variable Character Filter is a 12hp skiff friendly eurorack filter module with a stereo analog core and digital control over it. The controls are familiar filter module controls (cutoff, bipolar FM, mode, drive) with some added spice and no complexity.

Character: This control blends between five vintage influenced classic filter characters: Fat, Crisp, Liquid, Sour and Mean. Coming later in a firmware update, the Neutron Flux will also have two user banks for more specialized filter characters which can be replaced via audio update.

Notes: The Five Amp is a throwback to SynthRotek's original 5A Power Supply with some upgrades. It uses a quality 12V power brick for the +12V power regulation instead of a +12V converter. The plus side of doing it this way is that whatever amperage the -12V and +5V rails are not using can be used by the +12V rail, which always draws the most of the three.

Five Amp comes in three different power configurations. It is recommend that you select an option based upon your -12V rail draw. For a rule of thumb, Red (with red LEDs) will power a single row of 84 or 104HP, Green will power two rows of 104HP, and Blue will power three to four rows of 104HP.

Notes: The Octave Fuzz is SynthRotek's take on the classic 70's SuperFuzz circuit, made into a Eurorack module, which has improved on some aspects of the original as well, including an increased output.

OBEY is a dual-function module: one half envelope follower and one half attenuverter / offset generator.

Envelope Follower:
The OBEY takes an audio or CV signal and uses it to trigger an envelope or gate for use in a Eurorack system. It is designed to work with a wide variety of input levels: plug a Eurorack module, passive microphone, piezo, guitar, drum machine, Game Boy into your Eurorack system.

The pulsewith knob controls either the pulsewidth of the first oscillator (with the second one having a fixed pulsewidth), or via a switch the second oscillator is also controlled by the pulsewidth knob. Both oscillators can be pulsewidth-modulated independently by their PWM inputs.

The module is designed as a hybrid digital/analogue module; the oscillator frequencies are determined digitally and are therefore quite stable and have a good tracking; the output wavefom itself is created analogue. It's a new idea/concept that I have implemented here; the design causes the waveform to get a bit gritty at higher frequencies (but not "digital noise") - it's the character of this thing!

Notes: 4I/O offers four minijack sockets that are connected to the AE sockets for connecting external audio sources, CV's and Eurorack modules. Sockets 1 and 3 are stereo sockets; if a stereo cable is inserted here the signal is available on sockets 1/2 and 3/4. With mono cables the four sockets can be used independently.

All sockets have an overvoltage protection (as AE modular is limited to 5V) and can be switched between audio and DC/CV signals.

Notes: The classic ADSR envelope with CV control for all parameters

The ADSR module offers the classic four-stage envelope (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) that is not only loopable (patch the end output into gate input) but also accepts CV control over each of the stages! For the time values (A, D, R) the value set by the knob can be increased to five times the duration by the corresponding CV value. For the Sustain value the knob and CV value are simply added.

Notes: The CVSHIFTER module is the AE version of the well-known analogue shift register modules that are around in the modular world since a long time. It works like this: The CV input is sampled with each trigger input signal and this CV is sent to the CV 1 output; at the same time, all CV outputs 1-4 are shifted by one.

Compared to the "classic" circuits, this module is digital based and therefore doesn't suffer from drift as some analogue ASRs and S&Hs do. The result is, that you can e.g. control the pitch of up to four oscillators which is a first step into polyphony.

The CVSHIFTER module offers three modes:

Classic: Each trigger shifts the CV outs by one position, the new CV goes to output CV 1
Cycle: Each trigger sends the CV to the next output channel, restarting at out 1; additionally a gate signal at the according output.
Random: The CVs are sent in random order to one of the four outputs, plus a gate at the according output.

Notes: The DIODEFILTER is an adaption of the well-known diode ladder filter that became most popular by Roland's TB-303 bassline. And here it is for the AE modular!

Notes: DRONX is a special mixer designed especially for the DRONE38 module; if has 6 input channels (so you can connect two DRONE38 modules) and offers some sound processing capabilities: A tone control with bass and treble control, a distortion, and finally a dual delay with different algorithms. Two insert points allow to add up to two more audio effects to the internal signal chain. Together with the DRONE38 module(s) you get a quite nice drone synth for dense, dark soundscapes.

Of course, it can be used with any other sound sources!

Notes: A stereo headphone amplifier for AE modular.

It has separate left/right inputs; via a switch it can be set to mono operation (only left input is used). One common volume control for both outputs.

Two headphones can be attached via 3.5mm stereo minijack sockets.

Notes: The MIXCONSOLE XLROUT module is an extension of the MIXCONSOLE and makes the master outputs available as two balanced XLR sockets.

The module is connected via a small internal connection cable to the right of the MIXCONSOLE or as neighbour of the MIXCONSOLE JACKOUT module.

Notes: A multi-mode divider for clock and audio signals.

It can be used either for dividing clock signals (e.g. from an LFO, BEATDIVIDER) for rhythmical purposes but also for audio signals - in this case you get subharmonics / lower octaves squarewaves at the outputs, which can be mixed or used separately.

The module has eight outputs which - depending on the selected division mode - provide different division factors of the input signal:

Beat: musical/rhythmical clocks are generated as 1/1, 1/2, 1/4... 1/16 and triplets
Binary: the outputs work as binary counter (same as the predecessor module DIVIDER)
Decimal: The outputs have decimal divisions of the input, meaning half, third, quarter, fifth... of the input clock
Prime: The outputs use the prime numbers as division factors
Fibonacci: The outputs use the numbers of the fibonacci row as division factors

The reset input resets all output signals; in case of audio signals this can get quite unique, ringmodulator-like sounds.

The Shift knob shifts/rotates the outputs; usually, the fastest output is on output 1, but with shift the entire output pattern is shifted so the fastest output can be set to any position 1...8.

Notes: The famous MS 20 filter for AE modular!

This adaptation of the filter used first in Korg's MS-20 synth for AE modular offers control knobs for cutoff frequency, resonance and CV attenuator. Two signal inputs for different signal levels control the "drive" of the module. Compared to the wasp filter this filter has a significant self resonance and also a very quick response to changes in the cutoff frequency.

The filter type is switchable between lowpass and highpass (LP/HP switch).

Notes: Stereo effects processing for Tangible's affordable AE modular system. Offers a total of 15 digital effect programs with CV control over three parameters each. Can run in Eurorack via an optional adaptor frame.

Supplier notes:
The MULTIFX module offers 15 different stereo audio FX programs, a wide variety from common FX like reverb and delay to unique effects like Ring Crusher or Glitch delay. Also a nice shimmer effect is onboard.

Each program has 3 parameters that can be adjusted and additionally be CV-controlled.

With a switch the sample rate can be reduced to half the normal rate, resulting in doubling the effect times (with reverb, delay...) and introducing a nice portion of aliasing.

It is based on the FV-1 DSP chip that is well-known from other FX-modules in the Eurorack world; the MULTIFX module offers the 7 factory programs of the chip plus 8 new and unique ones created by Tangible Waves.

Notes: The PHASER module runs the signal through a chain of all pass filters, which brings a very distinctive sound when the filter stages are modulated. Well known is this sound by many pieces of electronic music in the 70's and 80's; especially with the SOLINA as audio source you get this unique spacey sound known from these days. With a switch you can select 4 or 8 stages; more stages make the modulation more deep and intense.

The module has a low-frequency LFO onboard, an external modulation CV can be used also as modulation source.

Notes: Connect two AE cases with RACKLINK!

The RACKLINK is a module for connecting two AE cases; the kit contains of 2 identical modules and a connector cable (length 50 cm). The modules are placed in both cases and are connected by the cable.

By this, you get the following:

The second case is powered by the first one

All bus lines (CV, GATE, CONTROL, MIDI clock/start/stop) are connected to the second case

Additionally, there are 8 connections that can be freely used; so it is not necessary to have connections between two cases. E.g. the second rack can run a patch for a drone sound, the output is then sent via Racklink line 1 to the first rack and here patched to a mixer, via line 2 the second rack can receive a modulation signal from the first one. The lines are bi-directional!
