000 Baby (6:41)
000 Baby (OM Unit remix) (6:17)
Review: After many years turning out 12"s, Klasse Wrecks has decided to serve up a first-ever 10" and they give the honour to Mr. Ho. His '000 Baby' is a delightfully widescreen sound - a post-rave mix of comedown electronics, dusty breakbeats and soothing ambient pads with some smart vocal samples drifting like wispy clouds. On the flipside, we're treated to and OM Unit remix that beefs things up and speeds up the drums. The percussion too is more defined and the energy levels ramped up with deft 808 bass and searching acidic leads. A nice yin to the A-side's yang.

Crue01A (Kyle Hall remix) (6:26)
Crue03B (Gerd Janson remix) (5:42)
Review: The Crue label comes through with two huge remixers on this lovely marled 10". On the A-side is none other than Wild Oats label boss and Detroit innovator Kyle Hall. He kicks off with a frazzled analogue synth and crisp, raw drum grooves before layering in more dreamy and warm hearted pads. Distant vocals add the detail which allow this one to roll and roll and keep you locked. Running Back boss Gerd Janson then steps up with another punchy deep house cut, this time driven by a bulbous bassline and huge, oversized claps. It's an immediately classic cut.

Review: Jurgen Paape has a brilliantly characterful sound and wrote one of our favourite silly records in 'Ofterschwang' some 13 years ago (go check it out, it's brilliant.) We're glad to hear some new music from the long time Kompakt legend and co-founder and once again it's not what you would expect. 'Allein' is a downbeat piece with oriental melodies and gently plucked strings over warm bass. It's not for the club, that is for sure, but the flip side version 'Allein In Italien' sure is. This one is a chugging and brit Italo disco number with retro 80s synth sounds and plenty of joyous grooves.

Linkwood & House Of Traps - "Barely Eagle" (7:51)
Linkwood Edit - "Who La La?" (4:07)
Fudge Fingas - "Situation Diminished" (5:11)
Review: Bless the Firecracker gods for their ongoing series of essential represses! The latest is their tremendous Firecracker 4 EP, originally released in 2009 and perhaps one of the Edinburgh label's definitive records - just look at all those DJs that have charted it above! Present is the absolutely epic, Dennis Parker-sampling "Barely Eagle" by Linkwood & House Of Traps on the A side plus Linkwood appearing again on the B side with his crafty edit of Tabou Combo Superstars 1979 classic "Ooh La La". Not forgetting Fudge Fingas "Situation Diminished" either; a nice, deep and smoky excursion through soulful blues territory. Not to be missed the second time around!

How Are We Doing?
A Second Earth
Review: ** REPRESS ** The ever excellent D'Marc Cantu serves up this two track re-entry on MOS DEEP which serves as an enticing prelude to the producer's eagerly awaited debut album (of sorts) which is due later this year. Across both sides of the hand stamped ten inch Cantu demonstrates the ease with which he can work vintage, driving Chicago house rhythms and more emotive, utopian visions of machine made sounds. Lead track "How Are We Doing?" is the former, with wide reaching analogue thrusts gradually being joined by soaring strings over a driving jack groove. Our favourite however is the B Side "A Second Earth", a blissful saunter through laidback melodic touches and skittering rhythms that could go for infinity and not lose its charm.

Review: The Please (aka Hans Verhaag & Minggus Dorpmans) make a stunning debut on newly minted Dutch imprint Purple Maze. We don't say this often, but this EP really has a bit of everything, from the scratchy beatdown of opener "Abodigital Dishwasher" to the Avalanches-meets-MCDE soul-sampling gem "Sealed With A Kiss". Wedged in between are two more certified jams, with the sparkling synths of "Laserguided Weapon" and moody techno throb of "Sampler Crack" rounding off a brilliant package, pressed up on delicious 10 inch vinyl. Indulge!

Hnny - "Want To Know What Love Is"
Kornel Kovacs - "Down Since '92"
Review: Further cementing their reputation as the merry pranksters of house music, Studio Barnhus drop their sixth release and you'll either love it or hate it! We love it. The mysterious HNNY delivers an edit of Mariah Carey's cover of Foreigner's power rock ballad "I Want to Know What Love Is" that expertly fools around with her money notes. The addition of creeping neon synths gives the track a brooding R&B flex and the sudden drop into silence that marks the end of the track is hilarious - it's worth dropping this just to see people's reactions. Barnhus regular Kornel Kovacs adds further heat on the flip with a simmering, low riding early 90s vocal house bumper in the shape of "Down Since '92" which will appease the serious house heads.

Love's Got Me High (Marc Romboy Systematic Soul remix)
Love's Got Me High (Jimpster remix)
Review: The prevailing wisdom in music is 'if it ain't broke don't fix it', and we had some trepidation when we learned that there were reworks planned of Terrence Parker's "Love's Got Me High". Despite these reservations, it's clear that Marc Romboy and Jimpster have delivered versions that are respectful of the original and certainly meet its high standards. Romboy's take centres on loose, organic drums and soulful keys, filtered subtly. These elements provide the basis for a sensuous male vocal to intone the track's title. Jimpster's take is trackier and more suited to DJ usage, its hissing, rasping percussion combined expertly with an insistent rhythm, but here too Rhodesy keys and crowd screams and yells ensure it has a high soul quota. Check it!

Earth 2 Moon
Man On The Moon (extended version)
Review: Having debuted on Thema with the finely judged quartet of tracks that made up Transmissions, Norm Talley returns to the label with a ten inch shaped sequel. Anyone who checked out Transmissions will no doubt have wished Talley treated your ears to more of "Man On The Moon" than the three minutes the EP opener afforded. Thankfully a gracefully extended variant of that track which is three times longer (and thus three times better!) lines up on the B Side. Ahead of that Talley indulges in some expertly crafted explorations through rippling, utopian techno on "Earth 2 Moon", which locks into a vicious groove once those rattling hi-hats drop!

Review: Fine Art is one of our favourite little labels here at Juno, with each release from the London via New York imprint a joy to behold both sonically and visually. The latest, from Auckland-based Hit It & Quit It radio host Frank Booker, contains two sublime excursions into low slung jazz-flecked house spread across two sides of 10" in vinyl. Title track "Hope" teases an infectious looped guitar lick with pan-pot percussion and occasional flourishes of piano, while "No Delay" delves deeper still, with oven-warm chords undulating hazily beneath the ebb and flow of live sounding drums and the most subtle of bass lines.

Listen To My 45
Knowing Looks
Review: Returning to WNCL after his exuberant re-emergence last year, Knowing Looks doesn't hold back in testing the limits of the dancefloor. "Listen To My 45" is the kind of track specifically crafted to sit uneasily in your ears on first listen but in time the wildly disparate elements amass to a glorious cacophony of damaged, unconventional groove. "Ghost Baby" darts into action on an uptempo micro-house groove before adopting a deranged synth. By the time thick layers of percussion and amen breaks whip around that lead synth there's no doubt that you're listening to one of the most starkly original producers in operation at present.

Todd Terje - "Snooze 4 Love" (version)
Son Of Sam - "Nature Makes A Mistake" (Jack Plug Supernatural dub)
Review: 2011 was a pretty special year for Gerd Janson's imperious Running Back imprint and they open proceedings on the next annual chapter with two cuts from their digital archives on this killer Digital Dubplates 10". The A Side houses an absolutely sublime version of Todd Terje's "Snooze 4 Luv" from the magnificent Ragysh EP, further exposing the sumptuous horizontal qualities with aplomb. Providing some nice contrast is an equally refined remix of Son of Sam's "Nature Makes A Mistake" from Jack Plug. The reissue of this 1984 industrially charged oddity was our favourite Running Back release of last year, and the chance to grasp a physical copy of Plug's effort (which is superior to the more highly lauded Ame remix) should not be passed up. Running Back also win the prize for first great runout groove inscriptions of 2012.

Review: After stellar contributions to the series from Bakey USTL and Vakula, Unthank swings back into action with a release from a producer much closer to their Edinburgh home, Lord Of The Isles. This Scottish producer has already graced some fine imprints such as Tusk Wax, Ene and American Standard with his music, while perhaps reserving the best so far to the excellent Hot Blobs EP released on his own Little Strong label. His contribution to the still fledgling Unthank canon improves on that release however, arriving in typically attractive cover art and described as "a journey of whiskey, analogue electronics, Scottish landscapes, nostalgia and underground parties". Musically the five tracks peak and dip between the differing emotions inherent in house music and sound as good as anything Firecracker have released to date.

Ma Spaventi - "Wrecking"
Aroy Dee - "Mr Floyd"
Review: There's something strangely appealing about M>O>S Deep releasing music on a 10" record; the compact size and the neat packaging are complemented by the fact that each piece of music is so stripped down, raw and full of sub-bass that they can barely press it onto such a small and lovable piece of wax. And in keeping with releases from 2AM/FM and D'Marc Cantu, the tenth release for M>O>S Deep - a split EP with Ma Spaventi and label boss Aroy Dee - features two tracks packed with so much raw power that the grooves struggle to tie them down. The record opens with Spaventi's "Wrecking", a stripped down track consisting almost solely of growling acid lines. The whole piece of music seemingly hangs on a menacing and aggressive 303 workout set at a snail's pace and interspersed with crisp hi-hats and a kick drum soaked in reverb. Aroy Dee provides balance with the flipside and his peculiarly titled "Mr Floyd". In typical Dee style the track features an unending parade of blissed out pads, gentle textures and layer upon layer of deep house. It gently nudges you along, revealing more depth with each passing minute, allowing the full-bodied percussion to gently build the tension before it melts to nothing amongst his perpetually translucent synth work.

Review: Nothing beats a bit of clear vinyl, especially if it's got some badass electro pressed onto it. Its clear that Australian Inkswel, is of the electro-boogie persuasion and here's three tracks to prove it. "Do It" is catchy and crisp with lovely mid 80s synthpop vibes, "Tu Machito" is pure old skool electro and "LFO Bounce" is a fantastic b-boy drum box workout. Funkineven beefs up the latter hissy percussion and more melodies than you can shake a synth at.

How Bout It?
Review: Fantastic Man, otherwise known as Mic Newman, helms the debut release on his own Fine Choice imprint, a vinyl only endeavour primed to fill the needs of the more discerning deep house aficionados out there. A fixture on the effervescent deep house scene in Melbourne (he's part of the tongue in cheek Melbourne Deep House Mafia) Newman has been expanding his discography in recent years with appearances on Tsuba and Murmur complemented by the rise of his Fantastic Man alias with key drops for Let's Play House and Wolf Music. Founding Fine Choice seems like an appropriate step right now, and the two tracks on this Late At Night 10" are true examples of sample laden, beat down house at its finest, both demonstrating his deft editing skills and talent for subaqueous grooves. Recommended.
