Review: 53 Year Old Manuel Göttsching can easily be called a living Legend. In 1981 he recorded "E2 - E4" completely solo in his West Berlin Studio, live, in "one go" and without any later editing, over-dubs or such. Inspired by American minimal music artists like Steve Reich, Phillip Glass and Terry Riley. A piece of Music was created that would years after influence and change the whole electronic music scene.

Review: Finally we get a re-issue of the first release on the legendary Fat Cat label! Harking back to the days when the record shop ruled supreme south of the border, this release is somewhat different from the following releases on the label. "The Eva EP", by Web, is pure techno music. Think early Dan Curtin Metamorphic meets Ken Ishii with a heavy nod to Kenny Larkin. This is a techno landmark!

Chico
Review: 'Manejando Un Carrito Rapidito Por Santiaguito' is Dandy Jack's long-awaited long-player. The Chilean, Swiss by choice,
(who is one part of Sieg über die Sonne, Carabina 3030, Gonzalo Martinez, Ric y Martin..) presents the result of 2 years of
extended sound research. Perlon are inconceivably happy that he does so on their label. Dandy Jack dedicates each of
the seven (+1) tracks to one of his best friends and calls the album 'Los siete castigos' (the seven punishments). He handles
his complex sound structures with inimitable nonchalant precision aiming on your brain and your feet. This album truly takes
it to a higher level. Percussive, tricky, elegant.

Review: Shortly after his introduction to the audience the Fluxion project presents its first long play release which consists mainly of the previous 12" releases on the label. The Man Machine
Review: 'The Man-Machine' is closer to the sound and style that would define early new wave electro-pop. Less minimalistic in its arrangements and more complex and danceable in its underlying rhythms. Like its predecessor, 'Trans-Europe Express', there is the feel of a divided concept album, with some songs devoted to science fiction-esque links between humans and technology, often with electronically processed vocals ("The Robots," "Spacelab," and the title track); others take the glamour of urbanization as their subject ("Neon Lights" and "Metropolis"). Plus, there's "The Model," a character sketch that falls under the latter category but takes a more cynical view of the title character's glamorous lifestyle. More pop-oriented than any of their previous work, the sound of 'The Man-Machine' in particular among Kraftwerk's oeuvre had a tremendous impact on the cold, robotic synth pop of artists like Gary Numan, as well as Britain's later new-romantic movement.

Ricardo Villalobos - "Ananas"
Review: Ricardo Villalobos and Lucien Nicolet (Santiago de Chile) invite you to their Sense Club, where they serve us a 'Tomorrov Cocktail'
(Perlon) which unfolds its full effect by sneaking on tiptoe right into the inner of the soul. A very personal reminiscence to the sound
of Detroit in new clothes. On the flipside, Villalobos is getting deeper into the sound of fruit salads. Good appetite with 'Ananas'.

Review: There is nothing that equals Soundhack's style in building house tracks. Every track consists of ultra short disco/funk samples that were arranged in ever permeating rhythm pattern with edits and breaks to die for. This is not another French house tool nor a disco house record. Rather Soundhack reminds of the raw power of late 80s/ early 90s Chicago track works. Killer!

Let's Get...
Strut
Review: The runaway success of Metro Area 4 EP (released November 2001) surpassed all expectation, not least the Metro Area's own. The feature track "Miura" - a sinister, sparse and absolutely unique piece of dance music - captured the imagination of a broad cross-section of DJs, dancers and listeners from almost every genre. Ubiquitously charted and still played with reverence today, "Miura" unwittingly broke Metro Area's music out of the underground. Nonetheless, in keeping with the duo's low profile approach, not a single promo was mailed out to stimulate sales and the frenzy was created purely by word-of-mouth. Don't sleep on the two boogie gems that back the A-side: "Let's Get..." and the Preludesque "Strut."

Review: It seems that the first Monolake 12" for Din has been released ages ago. This explains the huge difference of 'Polaroid' to 'Occam/Arte' and it reflects the continuously efforts Monolake makes to develop his music further. The A-side is a dark techno-drum'n'bass-hybrid tune which will not fail if gets played by an adventurous DJ. The remix on the B-side tests the more unknown waters.
