Review: There's a reflective quality at work on the latest Ellum Audio release, which finds label boss Maceo Plex teaming up with emo-tech-house stalwart Gabriel Ananda. The resulting "Solitary Daze" is laden with melancholic chords and synth sweeps, featuring a delicate drum section that buffets along the heartbreak harmonies with patience and poise. Barnt gets snapped up for a remix that injects a touch more mystery and dancefloor bite into the proceedings, using a little Eastern mysticism and a punchy bassline to make for a catchy revision that will help confirm the widespread praise the producer has been garnering of late.

Review: A new white vinyl repress from deep tech mastermind Maceo Plex in collaboration with Gabriel Ananda, originally released in 2014. The original 'Solitary Daze' became an instant hit amongst Plex heads back then, owing to its deft woodblock knocks and pop-out heartstring-puller strings. North Lake and Barnt's respective B-side remixes are funkier and smokier, not keen to steal Plex and Ananda's thunder, but nonetheless playing moodier hands in their own rights.

Review: Gabriel Ananda is probably one of the last real heroes of techno music. No one else manages to ingeniously mix the precision of state-of-the-art production standards with the purest and most classic dancefloor tunes. The result: the hottest and most rocking sounds. Now he comes up with part two of his 'Bassmaschinchen' (little bass machines), and it is far from using leftovers. Part two even exceeds the well known straight and pushing beat'n'bass patterns thanks to its wonderful, Detriotishly shimmering rave arpeggio.
