Tumble Blur
Delving Deeper
Tumble Blur (dub)
Review: Adult Only celebrates the 30 mark with Dan Ghenacia & Chris Carrier delivering an ep with plenty to offer. 'Tumble Blur' is a deep,
thick, heavy-droppin' bass bomb that stays true to its title. The delicate, yet agressive heap of thick tech sounds are nicely
balanced with gorgeous chords and micro bits which create a frenzy. Ghenacia & Carrier nailed some old school techno dome
madness that brings the dome to mind and a big shot blow to the body. The next track, 'Delving Deeper' starts the hotness right
off the bat with an array of killer tons and low hummed chords glazed over a thumping kick. The kick hits into beatzie tech-house.
The guy inside the bump says, 'That's cool', no doubt on that tip- Ghenacia & Carrier got the heads bobbin' and the shoulders
poppin' on the movers. The 'Tumble Blur' dub keeps its foundation of abstraction intact, the elements are outbounded on a 'straight-
away' track. The chords and ruminating blend of beats mix for a subtle, quirkier version which is kept well in control. A nice reminder
that deep house is a globally open field for new directions.

Review: Robsoul Friends are back with a new EP! After their last track together "Real Juice" & the best track "The Acid", they delivery a solid EP with 2 funky tracks directly in line with their influences. Maybe "Sorry James" is sample from a disco classic (find it!) used by Sneak on Strictly! Still, sub-bassline & vocoder voices here, Chris & Hector have done a remix themselves for this EP! Minority dub like old Frisco track with perfect drums!

1000 Reasons
Liquid Harmony
Liquid Harmony (DJ W!ld remix)
Liquid Harmony (303 version)
Review: King of the underground Parisian scene Chris Carrier delves deep into his acid house and classic old skool rhythm influences to bring you the 1000 Reasons EP on Catwash Records. Oddly the vocal in title track "1000 Reasons" only asks for one reason? Well, the 303 bassline alone is enough of a reason to catapult it straight into record bags and onto the dancefloor. "Liquid Harmony" bends to the groovier and more sensual side of Carrier as he showcases brilliant drum arrangements and crisp high ends. On the B-Side DJ W!LD takes "Liquid Harmony" into percussive and sexy realms, a whispered vocal lifting things to another level.

Gosse De Paris LP Part 2

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3
Review: Part 2 begins in a much more chipper mood. "Calais Douvres" seems to spill a joyous attitude out of every hole. A bristling beat and hollow percussion sets the tone from the off before Carrier's signature groove swings in and sweeps the listener off their feet and on a fun filled ride.
"Quadrilette" keeps a similar attitude, but this time adds a churning bassline that is so raw you can hear it rattling away at its deepest depth. Tribal-like percussion adds the funk and the tone is lightened further by the female vocal as made famous by Til West's "Same Man." Ending with the drum led "Le Divan Japonais," the release saunters into a rhythmic groove. Sub bass murmurs beneath the percussion at first but then makes itself more prominent as Carrier lets loose.

As a child, Carrier was exposed to all the classic sounds of the 60s and 70s through his parents. Yet as an adult, he discovered the techno raves of the early nineties. Both of these influences can be heard in Carrier's music, as he attempts to bring the best parts of both sounds together into one place. He manages this task with a seemingly natural ease here.

At a time where the boundaries between genres are continuing to blur, Gosse De Paris, both parts 1 and 2 make their own conclusions on the formula of modern electronic music

Illusion
Review: Chris Carrier is one of the main producers of today's French underground scene. With more than 100 releases, his productions are played by DJ's like Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak. Here is his new EP, in our opinion it is one of his best ever! "Black Flag" is a combination of James Holden's style, acid and German electro. It sounds like a future classic. "Illusion" is a deeper track, with nice melodies which find a perfect place after-hours sets.

Just A Sin (Diego Krause remix) (7:08)
The 2nd Degree (6:53)
Just A Sin (8:35)
Review: Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier, two kingpins of the contemporary French house scene, team up for a collaborative EP on their native Adult Only label, specializing in deep, funky beats since the late 1990's. The duo serve up title track "Just A Sin" as an appetizer, a seriously pounding and head-first house banger tailor-made for the club, followed the main dish "The 2nd Degree", a deeper, more subtle DJ tool boasting a mean percussive edge. The dessert comes in the form of a remix of "Just A Sin", whipped up by Diego Krause in what the Germans would describe as being "effectively waxed". Powerful tools for the powerful deejay.

Cycle Psycho (6:54)
Dimension 5 (5:07)
Smoke And Flesh (6:36)
Flying Sausage (7:02)
Review: Slum Science's Hudd Traxx is a label that just won't quit when it comes to proper, head-tripping house music for those who like their grooves serious. That makes Chris Carrier a natural participant, and the unstoppable Frenchman steps up here with a record that proves both his and the label's long-lasting appeal. "Cycle Psycho" is a simmering tech house belter with the requisite amount of funk rubbed into its limbs, while "Dimension 5" switches stance for a nagging acid workout. On the flip "Smoke And Flesh" brings a tougher thrust to the drums and then "Flying Sausage" cools the EP down with a simply fantastic deep house bump to get heads nodding all over the butchers shop.
