Tangible Waves AE Modular FMOS FM Synthesis Module
Cat: 786477 Rel: 16 Oct 20

Synthesis module
Notes: FM synthesis for the AE!

The FMOS is a new digital oscillator that brings FM synthesis to the AE modular! It offers the basic FM synthesis with one oscillator and one modulator, running both with sine waves or triangle waves. The modulation depth and frequency ratio of the modulator can be set with a knob and additionally by CV control. If you want pure sine waves, this is for you too - simply set the modulation level to 0.

The module is based on a simple 8-bit microcontroller and an adapted design of Jan Ostman.

Mutable Instruments Shades Attenuator Offset Mixer Module (2020) Mutable Instruments Shades Attenuator Offset Mixer Module (2020) Mutable Instruments Shades Attenuator Offset Mixer Module (2020)
Cat: 794969 Rel: 14 Oct 20

attenuator / offset / mixer synth module
Notes: 2020 update of this versatile three-channel mixer/attenuverter. Versatile and effective, updated with a fresh look to match Mutable's other modules.

Supplier's Notes:
The mixer/attenuverter that does not get in the way.

Shades provides 3 channels of audio/CV processing which can be configured either as active attenuators or as attenuverters.

Unconnected inputs are normalized to an internal precision voltage reference, which can produce either a +5V or +10V constant voltage.

Shades' outputs are daisy-chained, allowing adjacent groups of 2 or 3 channels to be mixed together.

This 2020 revision matches the design language used in the most popular and recent Mutable Instruments modules like Marbles, Plaits or Rings.

Useful in every patch.

Mix audio sources or CVs.

Add offsets to CVs, or change their polarity.

A companion for other modules.

Transpose the output of a sequencer without compromising V/O tracking.

Attenuate/invert CVs sent to modules which do not have attenuverters on their CV inputs.

Control with a knob parameters of other modules that are only accessible through CV inputs (like Just Friends' RUN or the Dixie's PW).

Serge Modular Variable Slope VCF Module Serge Modular Variable Slope VCF Module
Cat: 793037 Rel: 15 Oct 20

VCF module
Notes: The Serge Extended Variable Slope filter (VCFS) is a unique filter of the Serge system, covering a wide range of sonic character. According to the 1983 Serge catalogue, the VARIABLE SLOPE VCF (VCFS) allows the amount of filtering to be dynamically controlled, from barely perceptible filtering to highly resonant, sharp cut-offs. With the variable slope control in the center position, the VCFS acts as a typical flat-response VCF, with high, low, and band~pass outputs available simultaneously. The slope of the cut-off is 12 db/octave. As the control is moved toward the maximum position, the resonance of the filter increases, so that the cut-off becomes sharper.

Serge Modular Smooth & Stepped Generator Module Serge Modular Smooth & Stepped Generator Module
Cat: 757124 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Multi-functional generator module
Notes: The Serge Smooth & Stepped Generator (SSG) is a complex multi-functional module which can be patch programmed to provide various slew and sample functions both for audio and CV signals. It is one of the essential Serge modules.

The Smooth section will place a positive and negative slew on input voltage transitions for lag effects, voltage controlled portamento and for low frequency filter applications. In Cycle-mode (cycle jack patched to the input), the Smooth side will oscillate yielding a voltage controlled triangle wave LFO. A high level into the HOLD input will enable the Smooth Function to be used as a track-and-hold circuit with voltage controlled slew rate.

The Stepped function can be used as a sample-and-hold with voltage controlled slew rate limiting. In Cycle mode, a pulse applied to the Sample input will generate complex staircase waveforms for control voltage applications and for use as audio signals.

The Coupler is an internal comparator which compares the output levels of the Smooth and the Stepped Generators. This output is useful for generating complex control voltages or random voltages.

The Random*Source version of the Smooth & Stepped Generator for Euro is a licensed and authorized adaption of the original Serge design that provides an increased audio range of the Smooth Generator and a bipolar ("hot") Coupler output in addition to the regular (unipolar) Coupler output.

Serge Modular Stereo Mixer Muses Edition Module
Cat: 757122 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Stereo mixer module
Notes: The Stereo-Mixer is a 2 input, 2 output equal-power panning mixer designed combine the sound of the famous Serge VCAs with the most audiophile parts available today in a special edition for Eurorack - NJR Muses op-amps and THAT2180 VCA chips. The module has 2 independent input channels (with attenuators) that can be Stereo panned between the 2 outputs. Each channel's gain is controlled by a gain knob and as Gain CV input (with attenuator) which allows to go into massive overdrive with a very organic sound. There are also two AUX inputs that allow signals to be routed in at unity gain. Both panning and Gain CV inputs have been designed to handle audio rates, making the Stereo Mixer a very powerful waveshaping and droning tool.

Beware that the module is able to deliver massive gain, resulting in output levels of up to appr. +/-11V when overdriven, so make sure your other equipment (AD converters, mixers) can handle this

Balanced Outputs, using "a new generation of monolithic audio differential line drivers offering improved performance over conventional crosscoupled designs" for low noise and distortion. These outputs can be connected to balanced or unbalanced equipment (amplifiers, A/D converters...)

NJR Muses op-amps in the audio path.

Optimized value set and easier calibration / setup.

Two Aux inputs can also be used to chain mixers. The output is available at a pair of banana jacks as well as (6.35mm / 1/4") TRS jacks (phone connectors) for connecting to external amplifiers, ADCs etc.

Serge Modular Wave Multipliers Module Serge Modular Wave Multipliers Module Serge Modular Wave Multipliers Module
Cat: 757126 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Wave multipliers module
Notes: The legendary Serge Wave Multipliers (VCM) are designed to dynamically add new harmonically-related overtones to an input waveform. Accroding to the 1982 catalogue, they alter the timbre in exciting new ways, producing interesting alternative forms of signal processing which are unique in the Serge Modular Music System. Since there are three entirely separate and different types of Wave Multipliers in this module, an enormously varied palette of new effects can be synthesized.

The top section offers two different modes, selected by a switch. In the HI position, the module functions to square-up an incoming signal, with a rounded flattening of the signal peaks, somewhat similar to overdriving a tube amplifier (with voltage control!). In LO mode, the module is a linear gain controlled VCA. This is useful for various functions such as amplitude modulation and for gating signals into the other sections.

The middle section generates a sweep of the odd harmonics (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13th) when a sine wave is applied to its input and the FOLD knob is turned up or a control voltage is swept from low to high. This effect is similar to overblowing a wind pipe closed at one end. A second input is included to allow two signals to be mixed before processing. This module can be used to explore timbral areas beyond the range of ring modulation.

The bottom Wave Multiplier performs non-linear wavehaping known as full-wave rectification, but with sophisticated level-compensating conditioning as well. The circuit uses three full-wave rectifier sections linked in a very refined controllable format. Sweeping the VC input over its range will produce a smooth timbral transition using the even harmonics (second, fourth, and eighth). Many other partials are present in this basic sound, however, and the sonorities are very rich and varied. The white output is a squared up version of the black one, resembling an harmonically enhanced pulse width modulation.

The Random*Source version of the Serge Wave Mulitpliers for Euro is a licensed and authorized adaption of the original Serge design, using best parts available today (e.g. Burr-Brown op-amps, C0G capacitors up to 220N) for optimum audio performance.

Serge Modular Triple+ Waveshaper Module Serge Modular Triple+ Waveshaper Module
Cat: 757127 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Triple waveshaper module
Notes: The Triple Waveshaper (TWS) is a non-linear modifier which can transform a sawtooth wave into a sine wave. This classic module incorporates three independent waveshapers for modifying synthesizer waveforms or for processing signals from preamplified instruments. Although originally designed as a waveshaper for early Serge oscillators, this module has been found to be a excellent modifier of electronic and acoustic sounds, and is highly recommended for subtle timbral modifications beyond the range of simple oscillator/filter patches.

The R*S version extends the classic TWS concept:

+1: An additional (4th) waveshaper has been added (right after the first / bottom waveshaper) that can be dialed in smoothly using the +1 knob. Turned down (CCW) the bottom section acts as in the original (as if that additional waveshaper would not exist). Turned up (CW) the bottom section is actually 2 waveshapers in series.

Switches to link the 3 sections - bottom to top. Using these switches all sections can be set to act in series, starting at the bottom and ending at the top, providing the combined effect of 3 to 4 waveshapers (or anything in between) using the +1 knob.

Linking only the middle and top section and turning the +1 knob up (to have 2 sections in the bottom) allows you to use the module for isntance as two independent 2-stage waveshapers (using bottom in and out for one and middle in and top out for the other) - e.g. for stereo processing.

Serge Modular ÷N COM Divide By N Comparator Module
Cat: 757140 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Comparator module
Notes: The Serge Divide by N Comparator (NCOM) is a rare, much sought-after and very essential Serge module covering a number of functions: comparator, voltage-controlled pulse divider, and voltage-controlled staircase generator.

The #N COMPARATOR consists of two sections - a comparator (right side) and a voltage-controlled pulse divider (left side). The #N output of the pulse divider sends out a pulse on every N-th comparator pulse where N is a number from 1 to 31. N can be (pre-)set with the divider's control knob (1 #N) and can by changed with a control voltage. The VC knob (attenuator)on the bottom of the left side determines how much effect the control voltage has on "N". In addition, the divider generates a staircase waveform with N steps. This can be used to produce whole-tone steps when run into the 1V/Oct input of a VCO or as a stepped control voltage to change for instance the cutoff of a filter.

The comparator provides a number of useful "housekeeping functions": Logical decisions (if the +input is greater than the -input, the output will be high, otherwise low), Level detection (whenever a variable waveform crosses the theshold, a pulse is generated ), Pulse width modulation or Rectifying a waveform (e.g. a sine or triangle wave).

Serge Modular Active Pro & Noise & CV Pro Module
Cat: 757147 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Active processor/noise module
Notes: The Active Processor (ACPR) is an accurate, linear crossfader for either control voltages or audio signals. The new version designed by Serge in 2017 offers a widely increased precision. This module provides an important link in complex patches, allowing to smoothly change from one control voltage to another. It is possible to cross- fade between different envelopes, for example, or to gradually switch control over a bank of oscillators from one output of a sequencer to another output. The ACPR also offers interesting uses in the audio range, from wave- blending even to waveshaping (with CV in audio-range).

The Serge NOISE SOURCE (NOI) generates both white and pink noise waveforms. The S/H Source output pro- duces the necessary input for a sample and hold function to produce equi-probable random voltages, similar to a 1/F distribution function and is a perfect companion for the Smoothed & Stepped Generator (SSG).

The Precision CV-Processor (CV-PRO) is also a new development that goes beyond adding and inverting control voltages. A precision input stage allows mixing 1V/ Oct voltages, e.g. to cent-accurately transpose sequences (i.e. stay in tune). A switch transposes precisely one octave up or down. The attenuverting stage offers full processing control of level and polarity of three inputs voltages includ- ing Serge’s unique diode-based wave-compression. This new version now allows using the non-linear attenuverter mixing stage with precise 1V/Oct (AUX) inputs without los- ing their precision. IN 1 is normalled to 5V and therefore can be used to add an DC offset when no input signal is present.

The new version has been developed by Serge for and in close cooperation with Random*Source.

Serge Modular Resonant Equalizer Module Serge Modular Resonant Equalizer Module Serge Modular Resonant Equalizer Module
Cat: 757149 Rel: 15 Oct 20

Equalizer module
Notes: The RESONANT EQUALIZER (EQ) is a unique ten-band filter designed specifically for electronic sound synthesis and processing. Except for the top and bottom frequency bands, the bands are spaced at an interval of a major seventh. The Resonant Equalizer is designed to produce formant peaks and valleys similar to those in acoustic insstruments.

There are three equalized outputs: the two COMB outputs provide the sums of the two alternate filter bands, while the two top outputs are the (identical) mix of all filter bands. Please note that there is no sharp separation between the bands, moving any frequency knob will have an influence on both COMB outputs. This equalizer is special in that the bands can be set to be resonant: when the knobs are in the middle position, the response at the main EQ Output is flat. When the knobs are positioned between the 9 and 3 o'clock position, up to 12 db of boost or cut is set at the band. If the knob is set beyond the 3 o'clock position, the band will become resonant, simulating the natural resonance of acoustic instrument formant structures. Below the 9 o'clock position, increased band rejection is achieved.

The Random*Source version of the filter is a licensed and authorized adaption of the legendary Serge equalizer for Eurorack. It adds an input mixer with 2 inputs that can be built/used to attenuate or amplify/distort the input signal(s) before they are sent into the EQ and a Feedback section (knob and phase switch) which allows to feed back the output signal or the inverted output signal (depending on the Phase switch). Adding inverted feedback leads to phase cancellation effects - unlike the "normal" feedback, level decreases and the signal thins out.

ALM Pamela's New Workout Programmable Clocked Modulation Source Module
Cat: 648928 Rel: 25 May 17

Compact programmable clocked modulation source in Eurorack format - 8HP
Notes: Updated version of the Pamela's Workout clock source module from one of the best Eurorack brands around. Now functions as a modulation source as well as clock, providing eight outputs of CV. Essential.

Supplier's notes:
'Pamela's NEW Workout' is a compact programmable clocked modulation source for your Eurorack modular synthesiser system. It provides 8 highly editable outputs producing various control voltage signals correlated and synced to a BPM based master clock.

Building on the original 'Pamela's Workout', this new evolved model maintains the original's form factor and intuitive workflow but greatly improves on and adds many new features with upgraded hardware, a new OLED display and rewritten software.

Each output is now able to provide not just clocked triggers but also rhythmic waveforms with many parameters controllable directly and via assigning to external CV control. Pamela has grown beyond a clever clock and now provides almost limitless synced modulation possibilities.

Improvements have been made to overall clock stability and integration with external clocks and devices. Also new are dedicated MIDI and Din Sync clock outputs available via optional expander modules.

Noise Engineering Desmodus Versio Stereo I/O Tail-generator Reverb & User-flashable DSP Platform Module
Notes: Proper creative stuff with this one. Lush, characterful stereo reverb with CV control, distortion, pitchshifting, a freeze button and more. Oh, and it's got user-customisable DSP firmware for good measure.

Supplier's Notes:
Desmodus Versio is Noise Engineering's take on a synthetic-tail generator reverb. In only 10hp, it features true stereo in and out, seven CV-controlled parameters, and three reverb modes. Desmodus Versio's feedback control sets the length of reverberation, from short echoes through infinite regenerations.

At its max, the reverb ducks when it receives input, useful for creating sidechain ducking and atmospheres for percussion. The different reverb modes offer even more sound options with clean, distorted, and pitch-shifting shimmer settings. The FSU button acts as a freeze and also creates some noise to stimulate the reverb when there is no external input.

Desmodus Versio isn't just a reverb, though: it's a DSP platform. Its firmware can be changed via USB, so users can load future firmwares onto it or develop their own with upcoming open-source support.

With Desmodus Versio, Noise Engineering continues their tradition of supporting conservation:a portion of proceeds from every Desmodus Versio sold goes to Bat Conservation International. Find out why bats are not only cool but also an important part of our ecosystem at Bat Conservation International's website, batcon.org.

Mutable Instruments Rings Resonator Eurorack Module
Cat: 596644 Rel: 18 Dec 15

Physical modelling synthesis Eurorack synth module - 14HP wide
Notes: Rings brings physical modelling synthesis to your Eurorack system, from a more modular angle than Braids' models or Elements. Instead of trying to be a complete instrument, Rings focuses on the key ingredient, the resonator, ready to be excited by envelope clicks, trigger pulses, granular noise or any other audio source produced by the rest of your system.

Three families of vibrating structures are simulated by the module, with CV control over their parameters:

- Strings, membranes and tubes as modelled by Elements' resonator section (modal synthesis).
- Strings coupled together and vibrating in sympathy, with controllable intervals between them.
- Strings with a variable amount of inharmonicity.

Rings can be configured so that each new note is played on its own virtual string, while the previously played note(s) still decay(s). This unique take on polyphony allows the module to play strummed chords.

Mutable Instruments Stages Segment Generator Module Mutable Instruments Stages Segment Generator Module Mutable Instruments Stages Segment Generator Module
Cat: 686269 Rel: 27 Apr 18

Universal, patch-programmable modulation source - 14HP
Notes: Mutable's segment generator is a one-size-fits-all approach to LFOs, envelopes and modulation. A surprisingly creative module with potential way beyond the basics.

Supplier's notes:
ASR envelope, complex 6-stage envelope, LFO, 4-step sequence or switched LFO: Stages can be any kind of modulation.

Not because all these behaviours have been pre-programmed in the module, but because it allows you to describe your own modulations in terms of basic operations: ramp from one voltage to another, hold a voltage at a set level, wait for a trigger and slew. With or without looping.

Whether you need one complex envelope, or several simpler modulations, Stages reconfigures itself according to which of its gate inputs are patched. There is always a role for it in your patch.

That's it. Really, there isn't more to the story.

Self-generating chiptunes? Very weird LFO shapes? Random gate delay? Stages probably does strange and wonderful things when patched in a certain way.

Flexible input/output layout:

The module detects the presence of jacks on its gate inputs to group its segments: whether it is configured as a complex 6-stage envelope, or 6 individual envelopes, or 3+3, 2+4... depends simply on how you patch it. Dummy patch cables might come handy!

When used as a multi-segment envelope, a segment activation signal is produced on all secondary outputs - for example to trigger an external event when an ADSR envelope enters its decay, sustain or release stages.

In case more than 6 segments are required, up to six modules can be chained together thanks to a connector at the back of the module.

Three segment types:

- Ramp segments go from one voltage to another, in a CV-controlled amount of time, with an adjustable curve (accelerating, uniform, decelerating). They are the building block used for the attack, decay or release segments in envelopes... or for LFOs.
- Hold segments stay at a constant (but CV-controllable) voltage for a programmable amount of time. They serve as the sustain or hold segments in envelopes.
- Step segments glide to a target (CV-controllable) voltage, then stay at this voltage for a certain amount of time until a trigger is received. They are the main ingredient for step sequences, but also for building sequential switches or a sample-and-hold.

Looping:

A segment, or a group of segments, can loop on itself: if the last segment of the envelope is included in the loop, the loop lasts forever. Otherwise, the loop remains active while the gate is high, then continues past the last segment of the loop. These two behaviours allow the creation of self-looping envelopes (LFOs), or the sustain stage of a good old ADSR envelope!

Single segment processing:

Even when they aren't part of any group and don't receive any gate or trigger signals, individual segments can perform interesting functions: Ramp can loop on itself and turn into an LFO, Hold can delay a CV and Step can slew it.

Now patch a trigger signal: the self-looping Ramp turns into a tempo-synced LFO, the Hold segment becomes a pulse generator, the Step segment a sample-and-hold.

ALM Pip Slope Mk2 Compact Envelope Generator Module
ALM Pip Slope Mk2 Compact Envelope Generator Module (envelope generator / function generator / LFO synth module)
Cat: 792489 Rel: 21 Sep 20

envelope generator module
Notes: The ‘Pip Slope’ (rev II) is a compact envelope and function generator. It supports both Attack/Decay and Attack/Sustain/Decay type envelopes with both direct and voltage control of Attack and Decay times. Envelope shapes can be morphed between exponential, linear and logarithmic type slopes. Envelopes can be made to loop, repeating infinitely or decreasing with time or amplitude for echo and bouncing ball type effects. An ‘End of Cycle’ trigger output further extends the envelopes functionality for both clocking and burst or fill type effects.

The improved Pip Slope adds a number of new features and updates over the original Pip whilst keeping the same size. Improvements include increased output resolution, finer control of fast envelopes, a new morphing shape control, switchable 5v or 8v maximum envelope level, additional loop modes and an additional trigger output.

Features:
Compact envelope and function generator in 4HP.
Trigger and gate inputs.
Voltage and direct control of attack and release times.
Snappy or super long envelope times – ranging approx 1ms to 7 minutes per stage.
Optional self looping ability with 3 different loop modes: Decreasing amplitude, decreasing time, and regular loop.
Shape control that morphs the envelope shape from logarithmic to linear to exponential curves.
End of Slope trigger output that fires a trigger at the end the envelope or loop cycle.
Selectable 5v or 8v max envelope level output.
Reverse polarity protection.
Skiff friendly.
Designed and Made in the UK.

12dB multi-mode filter with unique classic circuitry, based on the filter from the 70s EDP Wasp synth
Notes: Module A-124 is a special 12dB multimode filter using the "strange" filter circuit of the "EDP Wasp" (an analog synthesizer with black/yellow case built end of the seventies, manufactured by the UK company "Electronic Dream Plant" with Chris Huggett und Adrian Wagner). This design "abuses" digital inverters as analog operational amplifiers leading to distortions and other "dirty" effects that generate the specific sound of this filter. The filter is equipped with a band pass output and a combined low/notch/high pass output. For this output a control knob defines the relation between low and high pass signal. If both signals appear at the same level (i.e. middle position of the Mix knob) one obtains a notch filter. Otherwise the low or high pass signal predominates. The module does not feature self-oscillation in contrast to most of the other filters of the A-100 system.

Inputs: Audio In, CV In (2x)
Outputs: Bandpass Out, Low/Highpass Mix-Out
Controls: Audio and CV attenuator, Frequency, Resonance, LP/HP Mix

The function and operation of this module is very similar to the module SEM VCF A-106-5. But the sound of both filters is very different! The only functional difference is the position of the sockets and controls, and the function of the controls CV2 (A-124: normal attenuator, A-106-5: polarizer).

- 3U Eurorack module, 8HP wide, 45mm deep
- Current draw 30mA

Doepfer A-130-2 Dual Linear & Exponential VCA Module
Cat: 731940 Rel: 11 Jun 19

Compact two-channel VCA - 4HP
Notes: Module A-130-2 is the slim version of module A-132-3 and offers essentially the same features. But the distances between the controls are smaller and rubberized small-sized knobs are used. In return the front panel has 4 HP only which is half the width of the A-132-3. The module is primarily planned for applications where only limited space is available.

The module is composed of two identical voltage controlled amplifiers (VCA). Each VCA has a manual gain control (also named Initial Gain) and a control voltage input with attenuator. The character of the control scale can be switched to linear or exponential. All inputs and outputs are DC coupled. Consequently the VCAs can be used to process both audio and control voltages (e.g. for voltage control of the level of LFO or envelope signals). The signal input has no attenuator available but is capable to process up to 16Vpp signals (i.e. -8V...+8V) without distortion. For the processing of higher levels an external attenuator (e.g. A-183-1) is recommended.

The amplification range is 0...1. Even with a higher external control voltage the amplification remains at 1 (kind of "amplification clipping" at 1).

Controls (for each of both units):

- Gain: manual gain control (Initial Gain) in the range 0...1
- CV: attenuator for the CV input
- Lin/Exp: switches the VCA characteristic to linear or exponential, in center position the VCA is off (mute function)

Inputs and outputs (for each of both units):

- CV: control voltage input, min. +5V required for max. amplification (1) with CV control fully CW and Gain fully CCW
- In: signal input, max. 16Vpp (+8V...-8V) without distortion
- Out: signal output

Mutable Instruments Grids Topographic Drum Sequencer Eurorack Module
Cat: 569556 Rel: 03 Mar 16

Topographic drum sequencer module - 16HP wide
Notes: Take the user interface of an euclidean sequencer, a healthy dose of machine learning and graph algorithms, megabytes of drum loops, hours of intensive computations and you've got a drum pattern generator like no other.

Grids' "brain" is a map of the typical drum patterns used in (mostly electronic) music, laid out by similarity, trained on a large corpus of drum loops. The module can smoothly interpolate and navigate from one pattern to the other, at the whim of a knob move or a CV.

But Grids' knowledge of drum patterns goes far beyond what would be achieved with presets - given a position in the map, thousands of variations can be intuitively generated by controlling the "event density" of each of the 3 channels (bd, sd, hh) - gradually moving from a sparse backbone to a deliciously rich pattern with ghost notes, rolls and fills.

Add CV-control on these parameters and you can add subtle or drastic variations to the drum pattern. If you don't want to waste a noise source or S&H for that, Grids has its own internal source of randomness that can unpredictably spice the pattern, in an always meaningful way.

Building the rhythmic foundation of your tracks with Grids is fun, surprisingly intuitive, with modulation and variations possibilities that will rapidly make you forget x0x-style sequencers.

Mutable Instruments Links Multiples & Mixing Utilities Eurorack Module
Cat: 569591 Rel: 10 Apr 15

Multiples and mixing utilities synth module, 4HP size
Notes: Links provides 3 utility functions focused on signal distribution and mixing.

1:3 is a 3-output buffered multiple, with an offset error < 0.1%. It is useful for distributing the voltage from a CV output with a large protection resistor to several modules - particularly VCOs.

2:2 is a 2-input summer with unity gains. The sum of the two input channels is distributed to 2 outputs.

3:1 is a 3-input mixer with a gain of 1/3 for each channel (averager). It is particularly suitable for rapidly mixing audio sources such as oscillators, for which a unity gain mixer would have caused clipping.

A 2-color output monitoring LED is available for each of these functions.

Cat: 776823 Rel: 23 Sep 20

filter module
Notes: Proper surgical EQ in Eurorack format, with five parametric bands of filters for shaping sound. As usual for WMD, there's a lot of thought gone into making it versatile, doubling up as a morphing filter for mono, dual mono or stereo signals.

Supplier's Notes:
SCLPL (pronounced SCALPEL) is a Stereo 5-Band Digital EQ / Morphing Filter module for eurorack modular synthesizers. Use it to cut out problem frequencies on voices in your mix or to add pleasing enhancements to your stereo field.

Dual Mono and Stereo Control Schemes make it an excellent addition to any WMD Performance Mixer Setup. Add 4 SCLPL for 8 channels of EQ in 16HP. Put a 5th on the Master Bus and you have the ultimate eurorack mixing setup!

A simple user interface makes it a powerful tool for many use cases. It features 9 user-programmable preset slots that can then be "morphed" between seamlessly with CV or the Level knob in Morph Mode.

Each frequency band is set independently with the Level, Q, and Frequency knobs, and a helpful LED display aids in knowing exactly what's going on at all times.

Frequency bands include a Low Shelf, 3 Mid-Range Peaking Bands, and a High Shelf.

Klavis CalTrans Programmable Volt or Octave CV Calibrator & Transposer Module
Cat: 767379 Rel: 16 Apr 20

calibrator & transposer module
Notes: Clever four-channel utility module designed to make it easier to achieve perfect oscillator tracking and transpose CV signals. Also includes some neat quantising and portamento features.

Supplier notes:
The CalTrans solves issues encountered when playing tonal music with a modular system: tracking problems, curves unrelated to Volt per octave ratio, limited octave range, cumbersome transpose, ...

The CalTrans corrects and expands the range of troublesome VCOs and brings V/Oct tracking to anything that oscillates.

Besides calibration, the CalTrans offers live play features. Each channel can be quantized and any combination of them transposed jointly.

A pair of rotary encoders with detent allow an precise selection of octaves and semitones.

VCOs whose tracking doesn't go high enough to follow the leader will see their pitch repositioned in their highest possible octave so that the global harmony is unaffected.

You can add a pinch of portamento and glissando to each channel and save the whole in user presets.

Doepfer A-119 External Input Envelope Follower Module Doepfer A-119 External Input Envelope Follower Module Doepfer A-119 External Input Envelope Follower Module
Cat: 577771 Rel: 29 Nov 17

Envelope follower & pre-amplifier for microphone/line-signals - 8HP
Notes: Module A-119 (External Input / Envelope Follower) is designed to allow external audio signals to be integrated into the System A-100. It comprises a pre-amp, envelope follower, and comparator.

The pre-amp has two inputs: an unbalanced input for line level signals, with a gain factor of from 0 to 20, and a balanced input with a gain factor of from 0 to 500, for insertion of low level signals, for instance from a microphone or electric guitar.

The Envelope Follower reads the signal level of the input, and puts out a proportional voltage as an envelope at its own output.

The comparator generates a gate signal whenever the input goes above an adjustable trigger threshold.

Three LED's help you keep track of overload, the envelope, and the gate signal.

Cat: 577792 Rel: 06 Jun 19

Electronic switch with up to four steps - 4HP
Notes: Module A-151 (Quad Sequential Switch) is like an electronic four-position rotary switch.

It includes trigger and reset inputs, four in / outputs, and a common out / input. Each time a pulse is received at the trigger input socket, the common out / input is connected to the next in / output. After the fourth in / output, the next trigger makes it step back to the first again, and so on. A positive pulse at the reset input switches the out / input immediately back to the first in / output (see Fig. 1). Voltages in the range -8V...+8V at the O/I resp. I/O sockets can be processed by the module.

Four LEDs indicate the active in / output (i.e. the on that is connected to the out / input at any particular time).

Doepfer A-140v ADSR Envelope Generator Module (vintage edition)
Cat: 738617 Rel: 10 Jul 19

Versatile module that can also be used as a modulation device - 8HP
Notes: Module A-140-1 is an envelope generator, and, since it puts out control voltages, counts as one of the modulation devices in a modular system. As soon as the gate input receives sufficient voltage, the ADSR generates a variable voltage, changing in time, called an envelope. This varying voltage is output in normal (positive) and inverted form, and can be used, eg. for voltage controlled modulation of a VCO, VCF, or VCA, or for processing other modules' inputs and outputs.

The shape of the envelope is governed by four parameters: Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release.

The envelope is started (triggered) by a gate signal either from the INT.GATE voltage on the system bus, or, if a signal is put into it, from the gate input socket.

The envelope can also be re-triggered, i.e. start from scratch again, each time a trigger signal is sensed at the Retrig. input socket, when the gate is still open.

Module A-140 has available a three-position toggle switch to select one of three time ranges. The time ratios for the three ranges are about 1 : 20 : 1000. The absolute Attack times are about:

20uS ... 100ms (switch position L)
400uS ... 2s (switch position M)
20ms ... 120s (switch position H)
The Decay and Release times are about 3-4 times more. Because of the exponential slope and the gradual asymptotic approach to the zero level the exact specification of the decay and real times is a bit difficult.

The voltage ranges of the ADSR outputs are about 0 ... +8V for the two normal outputs and 0 ... -8V for the inverted output.

In combination with the Comparator module A-167 a free-running "ADSR-LFO" can be realized.

Doepfer A-160-2 Clock Trigger Divider II Module Doepfer A-160-2 Clock Trigger Divider II Module Doepfer A-160-2 Clock Trigger Divider II Module
Cat: 671576 Rel: 29 Nov 17

Enhanced clock divider with multiple dividing factors - 4HP
Notes: Module A-160-2 is an enhanced version of the standard clock divider A-160. The module is a frequency divider for clock/trigger/gate signals, designed to be a source of lower frequencies, particularly for rhythm uses. The Clock input will take any digital signal from, eg. LFO, MIDI sync, or the gate from a MIDI-CV interface. At the outputs, you have access to three sets of seven different sub-divided clock signals, from half the clock frequency down to 1/128. The low/high levels of the output signals are 0V and about +10V.

The A-160-2 also has a reset input. Whenever a reset signal is sensed, all outputs are set to certain levels which depend upon the selected mode.

These are the most important features of the module:

Three different sets of dividing factors, selected by a three-position switch at the front panel:
- Power of two: 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128
- Prime numbers: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17
- Integer: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

Two output modes, selected by a two-position switch at the front panel:
- Gate mode: outputs act like the outputs of typical binary dividers
- Trigger mode: in this mode the outputs are AND-wired with the clock signal (i.e. the clock pulsewidth affects the pulsewidth of the outputs)
- Clock edge type selected by a jumper on the pc board:
- Positive: the rising edge of the clock signal triggers the state change of the outputs
- Negative: the falling edge of the clock signal triggers the state change of the outputs

Reset behaviour by two jumpers on the pc board:
- Level triggered: the level at the Reset input triggers the Reset
- Edge triggered: the edge of the signal at the Reset input triggers the Reset
- Positive: a high level (> 2.5V) or the rising edge at the Reset input triggers the Reset
- Negative: a low level (< 1 V) or the falling edge at the Reset input triggers the Reset

Output polarity selected by a jumper on the pc board:
- Positive: non-inverted outputs
- Negative: all seven outputs are inverted

Width: 4HP / 20mm
Depth: 35mm (Measured from the rear side of the front panel)
Current: +12V: +50mA, -12V: -0mA

Doepfer A-138s Mini Stereo Mixer Module Doepfer A-138s Mini Stereo Mixer Module Doepfer A-138s Mini Stereo Mixer Module
Cat: 671589 Rel: 29 Nov 17

Four-channel stereo mixer - 8HP
Notes: A-138s is a simple but useful 4-in-2 mixing tool. It has four inputs available. Each input is equipped with an attenuator (Level) and a panning control that is used to distribute the signal to the left and right output. Beyond stereo mixing it is equally suited to create variable parallel routings. For example: Any of the four inputs may be routed in variable intensity to feed two filters.

You may regard the A-138s as a smaller version of the A-138m Matrix Mixer.

Inputs and outputs are DC coupled, i.e. the module can be used for the mixing of control signals too.

- 3U Eurorack module, 8 HP wide, 30 mm in depth
- Power consumption: 10 mA at +12 V and 10 mA at -12 V

Doepfer A-130-8 Octal Linear VCA Module
Cat: 765896 Rel: 28 Jul 20

linear VCA module
Notes: Lots of functionality in a compact format thanks to Doepfer's typically smart approach. Eight linear VCAs with three mixers built in for good measure. Can be used for both audio and CV signals. Versatile.

Supplier notes:
Module A-130-8 contains eight linear voltage controlled amplifiers (VCAs). Each VCA features a control voltage input (CV), a signal input (In) and a signal output (Out). In addition three mixers are included: the socket labelled "1-4" outputs the sum of the VCAs 1-4, the socket labelled "5-8" outputs the sum of the VCAs 5-8, the socket labelled "1-8" outputs the sum of all eight VCAs.

The signal inputs are able to process levels up to 10Vpp without clipping. Each CV input is equipped with a trimming potentiometer that is used to adjust the sensitivity of the CV input in question. In the factory the module is adjusted for the CV range 1...+5V but can be re-adjusted by the user for other control voltage ranges (e.g. 0...+10V).

The amplification range for each single VCA is 0...1. The signals of the sum outputs have a lower amplification to avoid distortion.

The VCAs and mixers are fully DC coupled, i.e. the module can be used for the processing of both audio and control voltage signals. The control voltage and signal inputs can be normalled by means of small solder pads (e.g. 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 and so on, or 1 > 5, 2 > 6, 3 > 7, 4 > 8 for the stereo application mentioned below).

Typical applications:
any kind of VCA application (e.g. voltage controlled attenuation of audio or control voltage signals)
two voltage controlled mixers with four channels each
voltage controlled stereo mixer with four channels each, for this the control voltage inputs have to be correspondingly patched or internally normalled: CV1=CV5 /CV 2=CV6 / CV3=CV7 / CV4=CV8
voltage controlled mixer with eight channels
add-on for the planned Joystick module A-174-4

Doepfer A-149-2 Digital Random Voltages Module Doepfer A-149-2 Digital Random Voltages Module Doepfer A-149-2 Digital Random Voltages Module
Cat: 745777 Rel: 10 Sep 19

Expansion module to the A-149-1
Notes: A-149-2 is an extension module for A-149-1. It makes available 8 digital random voltages (i.e. only low/high states like a gate signal). The outputs are controlled by the "Quantized Random Voltages" section of the assigned A-149-1 and correspond to the 8 digital outputs of the shift register that is used to generate the Quantized Random Voltages. As the alteration of the A-149-2 outputs is clock controlled by the Clk In of the "Quantized Random Voltages" section of the A-149-1 the A-149-2 can be used to create random rhythmical sequences.

The A-149-2 requires the A-149-1 and has to be mounted directly to the left or right of the A-149-1 as an internal ribbon cable connection has to be established between A-149-1 and A-149-2.

Doepfer A-160-5 Voltage Controlled Clock Multiplier & Ratcheting Controller Module Doepfer A-160-5 Voltage Controlled Clock Multiplier & Ratcheting Controller Module Doepfer A-160-5 Voltage Controlled Clock Multiplier & Ratcheting Controller Module
Cat: 745787 Rel: 10 Sep 19

Voltage-controlled clock multiplier with CV or manual control - 4HP
Notes: Module A-160-5 is a voltage controlled clock multiplier. The incoming clock signal (socket Clock In) is multiplied by a factor that depends upon the control voltage on socket CV In (0...+5V) and the position of the Mode switch. The multiplied clock signal is available at the socket Clock Out. According to the position of the Mode switch different clock multiplying factors are assigned to the control voltage. With 0V CV no clock output is generated. This state is indicated by "all LEDs off". With increasing CV integer factors (left position of the mode switch), power of two factors (middle position) or a mix of both (right position) are obtained. Nine LEDs are used to show the currently selected multiplying factor. In addition two LEDs are used to display the incoming and outgoing clock signal.

A manual control is used to adjust the clock multiplication factor manually without the need of an external control voltage. The voltage generated by this control ("Manual") is normalled to the CV In socket. As long as no plug is inserted into the CV In socket the clock multiplication factor is adjusted by means of the manual control knob and displayed by the LEDs. For dynamic applications (like the ratcheting function described below) the manually generated CV is overwritten by the external CV which has to be fed into the CV In socket.

The module can be used for all kind of clock multiplying applications. One important example is the generation of so-called ratcheting sequences. The band Tangerine Dream is famous for this kind of sequences. A normal sequencer generates only one gate signal per step. A ratcheting sequence may have also more than one gate pulses per step. This function can be obtained by using the A-160-5: one CV output of the sequencer is used to define the number of gate pulses per step. If the control of the step in question is fully CCW the generated CV is 0V and no gate signal is generated (mute of the step). When the control of the step in question is turned clockwise one, two or more gate pulses are generated depending upon the position of the mode switch and the voltage generated by the CV at this step.

Technical note: Due to the nature of clock multiplying it takes a few input clock pulses until the clock output is stable. One has to average a few input clock pulses to generate the multiplied clock output signal. Even when the input clock frequency changes it will take a few cycles until the output clock signal is correct as the module cannot foresee the future of the clock input signal. The generated clock output signal is derived from the last few cycles of the clock input signal. Consequently the module should be driven only by a clock signal with constant or slowly changing frequency.
