Some of the breakneck techno in the UR back cat, although seminal, is pretty tough to fit into a DJ set circa 2011 unless your name happens to be Jeff Mills. That cannot be said about the tracks here, all of which serve as timely reminders about how eclectic the UR back cat really is. The four tracks, produced variously by Mad Mike Banks and James Pennington aka The Suburban Knight, sway magnificently between austere techno and thumping house. The raw, almost militant thwack of "Mau-Mau" is nestled alongside the jungle-tinged acid electro of "Stargate" on the flip, but it's A-Side opener "Midnight Sunshine", with those gorgeously rough key progressions, that we love most.
