Following fine outings from Inkswel and Johnny Rock, the good burghers at Oye Records have turned to Uffe Christensen for the latest volume in the occasional Oye Edits series. The Amsterdam-based producer hits the ground running on opener "No Clue", a thrillingly tribal Afro workout that boasts little more than heavy drums and occasional chants. "Strange Brief Thing" is a punchy, horn-heavy rework of a solo-laden disco-funk slammer, while "Remember To Forget" sees him playing around with a Balearic-era, clarinet-laden blue-eyed soul shuffler. Finally, he returns to the world of disco-funk via the rubbery electric bass, razor-sharp guitars and slack-tuned drums of "In Some Other Place". As re-edit releases go, this is one of the hottest we've heard in some time.
