Detlef Weinrich may not be one of the most celebrated producers of recent times, but he's certainly put out some fascinating music tied to the Dusseldorf scene. Under the Tolouse Low Tracks alias, he's delivered a string of intriguing albums and singles that variously touch on noise, experimental electronics, techno, weird house, electro and krautrock. Here he pops up on the admirable Themes From Great Cities label with another trio of hard-to-categorize cuts. Lead cut "Rushing Into Water" brilliantly makes merry with pulsating electronics, sparse but heavy tribal rhythms, and deliciously odd spoken word samples. He takes a similar approach on the darker, heavier and decidedly druggier "In Quicksilver", before flipping the script completely on the krautrock-influenced oddity that is EP closer "Reserves To Talk".
