Brace yourselves, here come The Flying Luttenbachers with a whirling dervish of a record firing angular math, no wave and free improv at each other across a rehearsal room. The shapeshifting band centres around Weasel Walter, and has featured all manner of noiseniks feeding into the squall since 1992’s debut releases. Cataclysm was originally released in 2006, and features Deerhoof’s Ed Rodriguez, Kralice’s Mick Barr, and Burmese’s Mike Green. As well as the blistering original album, this reissue on Improved Sequence also features the limited EP Spectral Warrior and comes with a bonus DVD featuring the Live Cataclysm concert film. If you love madcap noise rock played with serious chops and wild-eyed sense of fun, this package is nigh on essential.
