The latest 12" slab from Justin Vandervolgen's ever-excellent My Rules label throws the spotlight on The Creams, an Osaka-based duo and their 2012 song "Lets". A rather pleasant new wave pop cover version of Joe Moks late '70s moog-heavy afro-funker "Boys and Girls", The Creams originally released "Lets" on a NODE 7" back in 2012 but it never really got picked up outside of Japan. It clearly had an impression on Vandervolgen who got his mitts on the band's original multitracks for a pair of trademark deadly edits. Along with the blissful boogie of the vocal version, there is a superb extended dub take which shows off Vandervolgen's undeniable prowess with echo effects.
