Operating a dedicated vinyl-only service down under, Thug have made a smart move here in reaching out to two modern house producers with an innate feeling for how to craft emotive deep house rooted in Chicago traditions. In this chunky double pack both producers are providing a backdrop to soulful crooner Mark Rogers, offering four alternative takes on each of their productions. Tevo's original "Brainstorm" is a cool and deadly acid workout that keeps the 303 bassline bubbling at a constant, while his remix goes into a more plaintive headspace full of lush piano notes. Simoncino gets intricate with the sequencing on "Happy", but still the mood remains as contemplative one, while "Love Is Strong" focuses on a more prominent bass line to get your body popping.
