'Relic of the Mothership' is the long anticipated debut album by American artist Temu Bacot on Italian label The Sleepers Recordz. His style moves effortlessly from mellow soul, to rage filled rap, to talk-box p- funk and sophisticated ballads. Moreover, it covers an astonishingly varied musical landscape in performances that are tightly focused, yet warm and human. Drawing further inspiration from soul, electro, jazz and more, the New York City-based artist masterfully stirs them all into a unique cocktail of as heard on "Scavangas" featuring Blacc El, then returning to the mothership (circa the '80s) on the electrifying tribute "Funkadophilus & The Brass Operator" (An Ode To Bootsy), while influences from UK broken beat mix and Paisley Park throwbacks merge on "Jooze!" until the drummer gets wicked on the powerful closer "Magic & Sorcery".
