Tarquim is a musical project that is devoted to making new songs drawn from the study of different folk and folk musical traditions. The album is lead skilfully by saxophonist, flutist, composer and producer Pau Vidal with plenty of Afro and Cuban references. The album was written over nine months in Havana and captures the lively hustle and bustle of the Cuba's capital's streets, with big flute sounds, tumbling and prickly drums and bottom-wiggling grooves to make you move. It's an ageless album that could be a forgotten classics as much as a brand new bit of world music treasure.
