Tourist 20th Anniversary: Travel Versions CD

St Germain's second album, Tourist, is 20 years old. To mark the occasion, the man behind the pioneering jazz-house project, Ludovic Navarre, has decided to offer up a remixed version. Or, more specifically, a partially remixed version, because most of the mixes on offer are takes on the original set's most celebrated tracks: 'So Flute' and the peerless 'Rose Rouge'. This is not a complaint though, because the majority of the reworks are superb. Check for example the 'Rose Rouge' tweaks from Atjazz (bouncy, percussive, jazz-house warmth), Ron Trent (deep house-tinged jazz-funk),Jovonn ('90s US house) and Nightmares on Wax (dense, bass-heavy and full of stunning solos). Black Motion's 'Anniversary Mix' of 'Sure Thing' is deep, drowsy and detailed, while Navarre's 'Amapiano Mix' is as warming and luscious as you'd expect.
